Q: is vibrations simular to tens unit

Absolutely not! I'm very disappointed with this product. For the price, the functions are very limited. this item should cost no more than $40.00 the heating mechanism is fine, however, by no means is this product similar to a tens unit. The product offers a large wide belt but other than that, I've tried cheaper products that do the same job. This product is totally overpriced.

Yes, you can sit in a chair or couch while using the pad.

Touch the on off button, then push the temp button on the top. There is a temp up and a temp down button. I usually set it at 115 to 120 and put it over a shirt or towel and not directly on the skin.
