Q: Does the head spin and does R2 beep and have a hologram?

The head on the R2 D2 does move from right to left but I do not believe it will turn a full 360 degrees. It does not "shoot" holograms but if you download the free App - you can choose a "Hologram" on the App and it will interact with "hologram" through movements and noises. I believe the holographic projectors and the process status indicator on R2 D2 are motion detectors and indicator lights. Also, the center foot on R2-D2 will push forward or tuck back in depending on the mode or activity he is doing.

Q: Does anyone have problems with it using the remote to go forward or backward? This king of returning it for the millennium falcon drone

No problem, just a little bit slowly.
