Q: Can you use this machine with your own personal design to embroider.

In order to create your own designs, you will need embroidery digitizing software to convert images to embroidery format. Once created in the Brother .pes format, you can then use the design in the machine.

Q: Can you import other fonts? Increase the embroidery area?

The maximum embroidery area of the machine is 4 x 4 and this can't be changed. You can't add additional fonts to the machine, but you can download fonts and transfer the individual letters to the machine and embroider. You can also use embroidery software, which includes additional fonts, where you can type in a name/word and then save as a design and embroider as one design.

Q: Can you make custom patches with this machine?

Yes, you can create custom patches with the Brother SE-600.

Q: Is it good for a first time user? This will be my first machine but I need it for personalizing clothes.

I can’t think of a better machine for a first time user. For the price you will be amazed. Easy to learn, elegant & classy size with the ability to create your own designs from jpg to pes, with additional software such as SewArt, you will be able to create your own designs for endless fun! A wonderful machine, no doubt.
