I first saw one of these when my brother-in-law used one to sharpen one of his knives. I was amazed at how easy it was. He suggested I buy one. It is so easy. You rest the knife on a surface with the blade up and tip pointing off the edge. Start at the handle of the knife and pull while applying pressure towards you. You can repeat if once is not enough.

I keep this in my packbasket. Super easy to use and a great time saver.

I'm sure this works great for the correct application, I have several Accu Sharp sharpeners and they are excellent, but it actually ruined my auger blades. It's really my fault for not noticing because the blades on my auger, and many augers, are only supposed to be sharpened on one side and at a particular angle. This sharpener sharpens both sides, similar to sharping a standard knife blade, which makes the auger unusable. It created a cutting edge with a slight rounded up face which basically eliminated its ability to cut. It took me about a half hour of rubbing up ice shavings to get through 20" of ice. The only fix was replacing the blades.Long story short, be sure your auger blades need sharpening on both sides before purchasing this product.
