But its also nice of kids of all ages. The art work is actually not your run of the mill kid-book illustrations. No, these deceptively simple pictures are actually very emotionally evocative. The narrative, as well, is simple but deep and well crafted. I dont usually leave reviews but I was really just that impressed. I am a therapist and bought this to add to my collection of kid resources. I will likely buy a couple more to give to kids in my practice. Review: Good book for bedtime routine with affirmations - I bought this book and it’s quickly become part of our bedtime routine. The affirmations are simple but meaningful, helping my child understand that emotions are okay and that they’re capable of handling tough situations. The illustrations are beautiful and inclusive, which I really appreciate. It sparks some really thoughtful conversations between us. Highly recommend for any parent or teacher working on building emotional resilience in kids.

Empowering Read for Young Minds!
I recently purchased this book for my 3,5-year-old son and it has quickly become a cherished addition to our children's book collection. This beautifully crafted book is an empowering journey for young minds. The mindful affirmations are a brilliant way to instill positivity and resilience in children. The language is accessible and engaging, making it perfect for my little ones to understand and absorb. The illustrations are vibrant and captivating, adding an extra layer of visual appeal to the affirmations. It opens up important conversations about growth, perseverance, and self-belief. As a parent, I appreciate the thoughtful construction of this book. It's not just a read; it's a tool for building a positive mindset in our children. It has become a staple in our bedtime routine, leaving my kids with uplifting thoughts before drifting off to sleep. In conclusion, "I Can Do Hard Things" is a must-have for parents seeking to nurture their children's emotional well-being.

Great resource for encouraging confident & capable kids!
I Can Do Hard Things is such a wonderful book for kids. It’s simple, encouraging, and really sends the message that they’re capable of handling challenges—whether it’s apologizing, trying something new, or managing tough emotions. I bought this book to read to foster kids, and it was a great fit for them. I loved how it shows kids from different backgrounds. I saw reviews that mentioned issues with the printing (like black-and-white pages), but mine came in full color and perfect condition, so it seems like those problems have been fixed! (November 2024)

Affirming for kids, not great print quality
The message of the book is affirming and positive for children, but I agree with a previous reviewer that the language and message does not always flow smoothly between pages. Also, the print quality is relatively low with white edges left on many of the pages where the illustrations should end. I knew it was a gamble when I ordered it, but overall it has good messaging so I’m not too disappointed.

This book is THE book for children. I am an early childhood educator and the impact I have seen from this book in my years working with preschool age is huge. I mean the biggest thing is that we model what it is like to “fail” in different areas because children are observers of the adults around them to see what they are supposed to be like. The whole “do what I say not as I do” does not correlate or work for children. So along with being a good role model (that’s educators, parents, caregivers, it takes a village 😊) this book is huge. It really shows children that it’s okay to make mistakes and to try again, to be themselves when the world is telling them to fit a mold, to be a friend to themselves when everyone isn’t a friend to them, to speak up when they see something that isn’t right, etc. They can do hard things! I use this at circle to talk about how hard things are sometimes and how it feels easier to give up. Maybe some friends have a hard time making it to the potty on time, or have a hard time cleaning up, or have a hard time walking away when they are in the red zone or mad, have a hard time saying good bye to mom and dad at the door in the morning, or just have a hard time taking turns. But it’s important to remember that we can do hard things and what’s hard for you might not be hard for others and that’s okay because they have hard things that aren’t hard for you. I have heard amazing feedback from parents as well. They use the saying at home with their family and one little boy in particular won my heart over recently. He went to our craft area and made his own headband to remember to do hard things and showed me his muscles haha. It was the cutest thing. He also told me I can do hard things after I realized I broke our cord to our speaker in the classroom. He told me “it’s okay. We make mistakes, you can do hard things” I literally almost cried. Children are citizens of this world and our future generations. What they are going through in their early years is not as trivial as we may think. It’s important we remember what it was like to be young and not taken seriously. The things they face are new and their brain is developing so incredibly fast. Crazy to think that we have developed 90% of our brain by kindergarten. It is so important we foster resiliency and this book is a great resource for that along with modeling. I cannot recommend it enough. Sometimes I remind myself I can do hard things too 😉 and so are you!

I got this book to read with my 5yr old who loses patience when he's faced with something challenging. It's beautifully illustrated and the message from the book is clear, with examples that children can relate to. I'm going to make it a regular read to instill it's message into my son 'You can do hard things, it's okay to be scared, to have feelings and if you try you'll get braver and better at anything you put your mind to.
