Suples Fitness Bulgarian Bag

Over the years, I've always had a "home workout" game. Started out with free squats, bridges and push ups; later progressed to burpee ladders. Handstand push ups are also old friends. There's the obvious chin up bar. Then I got into kettlebells; a tool I still love and use regularly. Chest expanders and rubber bands are also helpful tools for working odd muscles, shoulders, upper back, stretching and particularly arm hypertrophy. At least the way my physique is constructed, curls are much better with rubber bands (aka the peak contraction is at the top; something it is difficult to get with weights, even with a preacher bench). I've thrown some indian clubs in for shoulder health.I bought the bulgarian bag to add some rotational strength and awkward shapes to the mix. Sandbags are generally good for grip and wrestling type moves. This one works in ways I'd never think of on my own. It hits the grip pretty hard, as you'd expect, turning into grip endurance. This would have been a great tool for brazilian jiu jitsu, both for extra grip endurance work, and the rotational strength you need for throws. The main exercise is the spin and variations on it. The snatch is also pretty intense; surprising as I can easily 1-hand snatch 88lb kettlebells for sets of 10 or more. I guess it is the odd shape and size which does this.As with other tools, I tend to go for something a bit bigger than "beginner" size; even if I am a beginner with the new tool, I am no beginner. This one, I picked right. 37lbs will remain a challenge for a while, but after a week or two it was easy to do sets of 20 spins with it. It's turning into a sort of finisher HIIT training session as is demonstrated in most of the videos. I suspect adding a few sets, or rotating in more of the challenging exercises, this size bag will always be productive used HIIT style.The bag is well constructed and despite abuse, it hasn't sprung a leak yet. They're expensive, but I suspect it will last me many many years of hard use.
