Overall I'm happy with this. My definition of "renewed" for a computer means it's been opened up, inspected, dust and dirt removed, cleaned, tested. I had reason to open this and I doubt it was opened. It still had a lot of dust in the fan. It works though. It's very quiet until you really make it work. Bigger issue, after the installed Windows 10 was activated, it posted MANY warnings about viruses on the machine. Glad I hadn't installed the included wifi adapter with which Windows could have connected to my home network and possibly wreaked havoc. I ended up booting this with a Linux flash drive. Machine runs well. It's fast enough to play 4K 60fps video with just a very minor amount of stutter. I haven't bothered running an anti-virus on the installed M.2 drive yet. I don't use Windows much so I don't really need it. I'll get to it eventually though. The 3mm headphone port on the front is flaky. I have to pull out and push in the plug every time I boot it. Fan did start winding up when playing the 4K 60fps videos. Fan doesn't get annoying when it's on. I really like the compact size. For the money it's just about an unbeatable deal. I will put a one terabyte drive in this once I've run it a while and have tested it thoroughly. (ETA: 5/2/2024) Reinstalled the M.2 drive that came with this. Neither Microsoft Defender nor Avast anti-virus could remove whatever was on it. It was almost like any ability of these two programs to do anything was stopped. I pulled the drive and snapped in. No one needs that kind of issues. Scary stuff.

Excellent for the price. The EliteDesk 800 G5 was clean, no fingerprints, dust, or dents. There was an actual Intel WiFi and Bluetooth card installed with the antenna connected properly. The SSD was Samsung, although a bit well used. Even the fans were clean and the keyboard and mouse were decent quality. The only very minor complaint is there was no original HP RAM. It had one Kingston module and one from Ramaxel, so not matched modules. Everything is present and works though, which is well above average for a refurb at this price. I've purchased at least ten refurb mini computers over the past five years. This is the first one I've received that didn't have any case damage or missing components. At six cores and with good power management, it's a perfect media center PC, and can be used as a primary desktop if you don't plan to do any gaming or 3D modeling work. I've even got one setup for my wife with additional RAM and a larger SSD for music production and photo editing.

I purchased three of these for a home lab project. All three worked without any issues. Things I noticed: - They were all clean (no dust inside) with minimal scratches or damage to the case - The BIOS was unlocked (no password to modify/update) - They all had different BIOS versions - They all had Wi-Fi cards (one had an antenna ripped off - one star deducted from the review) but they were different brands - They all had different brand SSD's (storage capacity as advertised) - They all had different brand RAM (memory capacity as advertised) - They all came with VGA connections on the flexible expansion port - There were 3 USB Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapters, 3 keyboards, and 3 mice included but they were all low quality. They probably work (I didn't test them) but I would not expect them to last long. - The computers were packed in nice heavy pneumatic plastic bags. Think industrial bubble wrap. They all booted right up and ran through the Windows setup process. After a few minutes and answering a few questions the Windows 11 desktop came up and they ran great. Since I am using them in a home lab I broke them all down as soon as I had verified everything was working. I pulled out the VGA expansion card, Wi-Fi cards, and Wi-Fi antennas. The thermal compound on all three processors was dried up, while I had them apart I cleaned it up and put new thermal compound in them. I added second NVME drives to all three and upgraded the RAM in all three. The new hardware was immediately recognized and ran as expected. After testing them I reset the BIOS, updated the BIOS, and reloaded the operating systems to something more home lab friendly than Windows 11 (Proxmox). As long as you know what you are getting these are great little computers. Awesome for someone that just does web browsing, email, and light document processing. They are even better for folks in the home lab community. Don't expect to be doing any heavy gaming or intense applications and you will not be disappointed.

This is the third HP mini I have seen renewed by Amazon. The first is a G3 and is very good. The second, a G4, was awful and sent back, the OS was corrupted and physically very sloppily renewed. This G5 is great, everything fell into place nicely and is now running Windows 11. It did not come with a HDD caddy. A nice touch is that the 16 gigs of ram is in one module. I believe that buying renewed computers is a bit of a crap shoot, some will be bad, and will need to be sent back, but most will be good, in need of a little work, but well worth the effort. Do your home work, check which CPUs will do Windows 11. Read the listing carefully, plain "SSD" is likely a off brand SATA device, etc. good luck

I ordered one with hdmi, Bluetooth5, and wifi6. This computer did not have any of these. It had two display ports and a vga connector. It does not have hdmi anywhere. The bluetooth and wifi come in the form of a usb dongle that they put in the box with it that will use up one of the usb ports. It was also put into a box with no padding, and that box was put into a larger box with no padding so it could just thump around will being shipped. I can't say if it works because I didn't open it, but with the lack of padding who knows. Don't buy from this seller, they either don't know what they are selling or they are scamming you.
