Top of line Handheld PC. Does not beat Z13 but thats not really a handheld to compare.
After having it for 5 days it was easy to setup. Somehow I didn't need to re-install windows. It did take awhile to update but seems it had May 2025 version updated for Windows 11 Home. This handheld does not come with the N version of Windows. It comes with full version of Windows 11 Home. I will upgrade to Pro to get rid of the Home junk. I installed Xbox, Steam, and some other games and runs flawlessly as if I am gaming on my machine. Since I didn't need to re-image the machine when I received it everything ran smoothly. I see a massive difference in performance from the Asus ROG Ally X. The screen is massive but it works perfect for me. The machine runs smooth on 32GB of memory and please get the 2TB version which is 100 bucks more unless you know how to upgrade it. The controllers are amazing. Something you have to get use to which is not hard. I actually like the feel of the handhelds unlike the Alley X or the OneXPlayer Pro Mini. The keyboard quality is spot on and feels luxury. The track pad is smooth but the pushing of the left and right click buttons are very hard to do but I won't deduct a star for this. If you got the money for something you don't need a laptop and you play games on controllers this is the machine you need to buy. Its expensive but it has the most up to date hardware out there. There is the Z13 handheld out there but that feels like a regular laptop even though its considered a gaming tablet. You can use any controller on the Z13 but this handheld PC works flawlessly. The screen is in 4k and is very crisp and you throw anything at it. Anyways it runs all of my games on 60fps after tweaking settings. The OneXPlayer does not auto load any settings so you have to load their software before gaming but I actually like this as sometimes I don't need to run the software as settings do save. Also the best part is you can use Steam as if you are using it on a desktop. It does not go to full screen mode. You can tell it to do this instead. Overall 5 stars for me. I can not be any happier to get this. It was well worth the investment and looking forward to the gaming in next 5 years. I don't need a big laptop or do I need anything past this handheld. It works for me. I highly recommend this if you got the funds for it. I would say top of line for a handheld PC that actually has real Windows 11 Home on it and does not load much bloatware. You do have to update the handheld through Windows 11 setup and takes awhile but does not corrupt anything. I do not see how people say to re-image it. You just let it update as it takes awhile to update. After update the machine runs flawless. I didn't re-image the handheld or need to but that is up to you if you want a fresh install. The handheld does not come with bloatware except for the systems drivers and OneXPlayer software, Steam, and standard windows features that comes with a fresh install.

4.5 stars for the right person!
If I could give this device a 4.5 rating, I would. For the price and compared to its competitors, the One XPlayer X1 offers a great value. The device is well-built, with a solid tablet and a keyboard that feels well-constructed. However, the touchpad could be improved in terms of quality. It’s smooth but small, and clicking requires excessive force, making it more suitable for tapping rather than clicking. The controllers are a mixed bag. The design is great, they are easy-to-snap-on and the buttons have a satisfying click to them. However, they feel hollow and light, with little resistance from the joysticks. Adding more weight to the controllers could have improved their feel, but the tablet itself is already quite heavy for a handheld device. The display is fantastic, with a fast refresh rate, plenty of brightness, and great colors. The panel is natively portrait, which is disappointing but not a major issue for me. The speakers could be better, but they’re not bad. Good for most tasks but I’m not listening to music through the X1’s speakers. The port selection for this form factor is impressive. It includes two USB-C 4 ports, a USB-A 3.2 port, a MicroSD port, a 3.5mm audio port, and the lesser-known OCUlink port (primarily used for external GPUs but it frees up the USB4 ports in that use case). The performance of this device is excellent. It’s incredibly convenient to adjust the TDP of the device on the fly. I often disable the CPU’s turbo boost, set the TDP to 10W, and adjust the brightness to around 30-40%. This combination provides great performance for light tasks while ensuring good battery life. For gaming, enabling image scalers like FSR significantly improves the performance of AAA games. Ghost of Tsushima runs well on this device and for less demanding games like Balatro and Peglin, I was also able to achieve excellent battery life. I highly recommend this device to individuals who are in the middle of their device choices or those who want to consolidate their portable devices. Perhaps you own or desire an ROG Ally and a Surface Pro; I believe this is a great option for you. Alternatively, if you need something for school but also enjoy gaming, this could be a suitable for you. If you strictly want a handheld for gaming and DON’T prioritize having a portable large screen, I suggest exploring other options, but if you have a mixed-use case scenario like mine, I believe you will be satisfied with the OneXPlayer X1.

Good on paper, but riddled with issues.
Seemed like a great device on paper. In reality, software issues, cooling, and real world performance are severely lacking. Buying through Amazon significantly limits the amount of support you will from OneXPlayer. I got good use out of this device, but the performance, cost, and longevity means I cannot state that this device is a good value or high quality. The website drivers page links to Google Drive and Dropbox links that are frequently broken, and Windows frequently provides virus warnings for “OneXConsole”. The device only became somewhat decentralized after doing a full install of bazzite and tinkering. Some issues include: frame rate instability to easy to run titles, controller rails breaking down, “controller wireless units” (2 since I bought and extra) breaking, thermal throttling, lack of customer support. I had also purchased the Egpu2 unit from OneXPlayer directly but the performance was not as good as advertised, and the EGPU has stopped functioning after 2 months of light use.

Good idea but at this stage not worth the price
I wanted to love this but it was disappointing. Screen is great. Form factor is good. Keyboard is fine although would be nice if there was some latching mechanism to keep it closed maybe a magnet in the future . Controllers are very small and flimsy. The left trigger kept activating by itself. If you want to use the right thumb stick your thumb will either have to do some gymnastics or you need to move your hand position. Performance is about the same as rog ally and legion go. Buttons and placement are best on rog ally but the screen is too small. Legion go has cramped controls as well but they are better than x1. It's surprising at this price point not to make a premium controller that is comfortable. Specs are great I think it was a big oversight to have 16gb on go and ally as the GPU uses main memory. That being said in reality it didn't seem to have an impact on the games I played. The software is not good. It didn't detect games. If you closed out it would also close the app linked to the hotkey. Changing resolution in games and device caused some bizarre issues. Games would randomly load like it was a PC from 2001 stuttering and so slow it was brutal. Unsure of the cause. Temps were good. Upgrading the SSD would be a pain vs the x1 mini which has a back plate to easily swap. Lots of odd oversights for the price. Also the defect. I returned it sadly. Maybe the X2 will address these issues.

Best 3 in 1 out right now
Now let me say this device isn’t perfect, but this is the best handheld 3 in 1 solution you can buy right now. I’ve been through a steam deck, rog ally, legion go, and ayaneo flip ds and I can confidentially say this beats them all out due to it’s versatility. It’s convenient having a handheld until you need anything done on windows or just want to use your device to browse the internet or watch something. With this you throw on the keypad like a surface pro and boom problem solved. Connecting external usb is easy too so you can use a mouse instead of the trackpad. The keyboard is sturdy and feels good I just don’t like the trackpad but I don’t care for trackpads in general. This is also a direct competitor to the surface pro and minisforum v3 and it blows the surface pro out of the water as far as price to performance, I would never recommend it over the x1. As far as the minisforum they are very much on par with each other, but with this device you get to have controllers on the side as well. My biggest gripe is the controllers only due to the sticks not being firm enough for my liking and the placement of the right one, but other than that they are great and have Hall effect sticks so no drift. Performance wise you’re gonna get the same as you would on any 7840u and 8840u devices, but the battery life is very nice on this and the screen is amazing I wouldn’t take the vrr screen on the ally over this it just looks too good and tearing is not very noticeable. I also needed help setting the vram and I got help in the OXP discord very quick from the community so it’s nice to know a lot of people care about this device. If you’re considering needing a replacement for a tablet, handheld, or laptop. This is the solution congrats onexplayer you have earned a loyal customer!

The best gaming handheld, but…defective right thumbstick
This is an absolutely amazing gaming handheld. In my opinion it is the best handheld you can get right now. Even against the steam deck and legion go. The weak point is the controller. It’s very cheap feeling and the thumbsticks are way too loose. I wish they were tighter. Unfortunately my right thumb stick is slightly defective. If I am pressing to the left or the right I can feel it lift out of place. When I am in the middle of a game it’s very noticeable. I wish I could get a replacement controller. It’s playable but annoying. Other than that, it’s a great handheld. Buy it. You won’t be disappointed. Overwatch 2 1200p at 20 watts you’ll average 90-120fps. Elden ring 55-60fps 1200 at 20-25 watts. Cyberpunk 60+fps at 20 watts fsr set balanced at 800p. If you set it to 30 watts you be hitting 80-90 fps solid. Battery life is decent. Between an hour to 2 hours depending on the games you play, the resolution and tdp. I did have a problem not having the resolution options. But this happens with all onex devices. All you have to do is go to the one player website under support. Download the drivers package. Find the app folder and install the edid file. It will add a registry file. Restart your device and boom. It works. Multiple resolution to choose from.

BRAVO ONEXTEAM (X1 Pro)
I ordered the x1 pro due to a sale.. I already owned the mini so had good feelings when it came to onexplayer products.. Considering this is the newest AMD chip, i was curious to how much better it would be than my current system. I was a little skeptical though because of the massive size of this system. Let me tell you, i am completely sold.. This thing is just a heavy as the mini, but with a larger more beautiful screen.. This thing actually plays everything i have thrown it with no issues.. Amazing product.. So far so good, I am testing the hell out of this thing but so far, i am very impressed.. With a hefty price comes hefty specs and hefty performance.. I am truly impressed.. I will continually post as i keep testing, but so far so good.. Bravo onex.. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.. The best thing about the onex team, is their customer service.. At any time you can reach out to them via their website, and the minute they start working, they respond.. Very Important.. Thanks Onexteam.. Doug

Best handheld
I had the Lenovo legion go first and even though that was a fantastic device. The one x player is just so much better. I can play AAA games down to 5% battery and it still runs smoothly. The fan set to auto is barely noticeable. I highly recommend anyone that is considering getting a handheld to get this.
