Title. Simple to install SSD from crashed computer and explore files using Windows. Two gotchas - the screws are tiny, and I wish there were a LED to tell you if it is getting power.

These enclosures are great. The usb c cables are worthless though. They won’t work on any of my devices and it auto disconnects from all my pcs. Honestly just use better usb c cables with it and you’re fine.

Worked like a charm with an older M2 that I was replacing in my desktop. They even provided a new mounting screw.

Really impressed with this little enclosure. Installation took less than a minute—just slide in the SSD and plug it in. My laptop picked it up instantly, and transfer speeds have been excellent. The aluminum body feels sturdy, and the silicone sleeve is a nice bonus for protection. Overall, it’s compact, reliable, and does exactly what I need.

The drive works for a few minutes and then completely disconnects. The thermal solution for this is basically nothing so the drive is overheating and disconnecting to prevent damage making this enclosure a dead product. The thermal pad provided isn’t going to save anything as it isn’t thick enough to make contact with the aluminum chassis, but even if it was the chassis couldn’t close so no matter what it is a horrible design. Can’t use this at all. Complete waste of money. I don’t recommend buying this at all. Go with a sandwich design enclosure; those are built to make full contact with the drive via a thermal pad directly to the enclosure so it should perform much better with thermals. For reference, I’m using a crucial gen 5 NVME 2 TB. Also, if you have a drive that has chips on both sides, this enclosure won’t work; physically can only support chips on a single side as the standoffs throughout the enclosure will make contact with the chips and bend the PCB. Terrible design.

I purchased this specifically to be able to initialize and format the newer PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD devices. For that purpose it does the trick. It can handle multiple sizes from 2280 to 2220. If you ever need to replace a dead M.2 SSD you'd have to physically install the new one in a working Win 11 PC and go thru the steps. This can be a hassle if the PC you are using has a dead SSD. This device is a great option for getting the initialization done on any PC with a USB connection.

The product description clearly states that this is a tool-less model, but I can clearly see a screw in the housing that I need to remove first! So, in my experience, this isn't tool-less, and I'm also questioning the other specifications. It's a shame, because I've always been very satisfied with Ugreen products, but this one is going back!

Comprado para reutilizar un viejo SSD NVMe como unidad para copias de seguridad. Viene con destornillardor y tornillo extra para la carcasa. Ligero, buen diseño, material aparentemente de calidad. Incluye almohadilla de silicona para el SSD. Todo bien explicado y fácil de preparar. Probado con puertos usb 4 gen 2 de tipo C, con estos no se obtiene una conexión estable, se pueden estar conectando/desconectando continuamente. Aunque puede lograrse pasar un pequeño volumen de datos.
