Saltwater aquarium set up is full of hoodoo vudoo. Some people may want to set up their aquarium over many weeks or months. I've heard it all toss a dead shrimp in the tank and wait for the magic to happen. Hum. That's not my idea of science. I hold a science degree with extensive work in biology and microbiology. My tank was set up with RODI water Carib live sand and rocks as well as dr Tim's nitrogen fixing bacteria. Water salinity and ph all within the appropriate ranges. Temperature was 78. degrees. I tested all aquarium parameters with the master test kit. I added 2 clowns a carpet anemone and some hermit crabs. After acclimation to tank temp and salinity these animals have done extremely well. The clowns and anemone have become acclimated all fish are eating and doing well and all critical tank tests show no dangerous levels of ammonia, nitrite or nitrate. Dr Tim has the correct nitrogen fixing microorganisms specifically for aquariums so does the sand and rock. I do have years of aquarium experience but this is my first saltwater tank. Dr Tim has experience setting up huge commercial aquariums and has a PHD in microbiology. You are free to choose hoodoo vudoo or science. I'll take science every time.

This is the best bacteria in a bottle you will ever find for the purposes of saltwater aquariums. It cycles your tank in a very brief period of time. Your tank will cycle in days, not weeks. You will not be disappointed to find that after dumping the entire contents of the bottle that the ammonia levels do not drop like with other brands. If you have an ammonia spike, this is the product to buy. DO NOT buy SeaChem Prime to safely lower your ammonia levels in your aquarium - especially if you already have livestock in the tank! That is the WRONG product! I forgot the chemistry behind SeaChem Prime, but DO NOT follow that HAZARDOUS aquarium trend - your ammonia levels will read 0 ppm on your test kits, but your animals will still show the same symptoms of ammonia toxicity and still end up dying. Use Dr. Tim's Aquatics One and Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria to SAFELY lower your ammonia levels in a freshly setup tank and an already stocked tank. Speaking solely about reef tanks, there is no such thing as overdosing this product. All corals have the ability to eat nitrifying bacteria to some degree or another. For me, there is no other brand of bacteria in a bottle - there is ONLY Dr. Tim's One and Only Nitrifying Bacteria! This stuff works, and it is safe for animals. And, no, I was not paid or bribed by anyone to write a stellar review for this product. I write good reviews for good products, and bad reviews for products that need to be struck down hard!

Used this product, so far so good a week in. Update. This stuff just works turn off skimmers and no filters or carbon and let it run through your tank system for 2-4 days then start back up your devices. Will overflow skimmers for a few days. UPDATE! Second time using product and this stuff is amazing! poured it in and placed fish in tank! Bam no waiting and now watching my fish for the second time loving the life! I will buy again! This stuff is the best in conjunction with the Dr Tim's ammonia. Cycled a 88 gallon red sea in record time. Trust me and just buy it

I like the results. I have a 75 gallon tank that was heated to. 82 degrees! However, I did not give it five stars because I only got one suction cup holder. Why not at least give me two holders?deposit

Always use this when starting a new tank

I ALWAYS use Dr. Tims for starting a new tank. I have seen amazing results tracking levels during a new tank start up before using Dr. Tims and after... all I can say is that after using Dr. Tims it cuts down the time drastically. The biggest key factor here for me is the need to keep some on hand incase of a crash or something where I need to setup an emergency tank. I keep this handy so that I know from a safety stand point, my fish will be fine. I have used many different products claiming to do what this does and I can say, none of the other products out there give me the same confidence with testing multiple times a day that Dr. Tims does. Skip wasting your money and just buy Dr. Tims, you will be glad you did!

I started a new saltwater tank and wanted to cycle it with two damsels, live rock and live sand. I had heard great reviews of this product, so I added it and it really helped speed up my cycle process and kept the ammonia spike lower. I reordered this and will keep using it after tank cleaning and the addition of new fish. Shake it really really well before using it.
