Targus Versavu..Excellent cover
I've been carrying a 7 inch pad for over two years. Everyone said Apple would never go 7inch. They were wrong. The 7 inch form factor is portable, the 9.7 not so much. Being portable, you need to protect it and the Apple covers do nothing to protect the back of the pad. Since this is basically a 16X9 situation you WILL want to be able to go portrait mode and not hold the pad.Great for stock tickers. Thats where this versavu cover comes in. I read the negative reviews saying it won't stay in place...not my experience. If you want to type, flip over to the the steady landscape mode which literally locks the thing in place. It has two landscape positions(one locks, one doesn't) and one portrait position. Very nice typing experience using this Targus versavu in the locked landscape mode.Very well made, minipad fits snug in the case.No harder to put in than it should be.I've had 3 iPads and 3 7" pads, so you know I've bought some cases. This is the best so far.

Wonderful and Versatile Case
This case holds the ipad snugly and securely. I love the ability to rotate my ipad in any direction. I was worried about the elastic strap that is used to hold the case closed, but it is very strong and I am sure it will last. The case is not bulky and I know that I can drop it into my bag and my ipad is protected and doesn't take up a lot of space. The case has great texture and feels like a book in your hands. I just wish it had the capability to wake and sleep the ipad like the smartcover does.

Excellent case!
This case was the second one I have ordered for my mini. The first case was a Snugg case. That was ok, but it looked much better online than it did when I got it home and was not made as well as I thought it would be. The Targus however is wonderful, and nicely designed. It doesn't add much bulk to the mini but still keeps. The best feature is its ability to rotate. It is durable, protective and stylish. Being able to see the Apple icon is appeasing. I would highly recommend this case.

I like it, just a few gripes
I've had the Targus Versavu for iPad mini for about two weeks now. Overall, this is a great case for the 1st generation iPad mini. Fits perfectly, so I'm not sure what these other reviewers are talking about with the fit issues -- my guess is that they're not very with it and have an iPad, not iPad mini. Ignore any review that says the iPad mini doesn't fit this case -- they're flat out wrong. I will say that it did take a few minutes to really get the iPad mini to snap in all the way, primarily in the top right corner next to the sleep button, but I promise you it fits perfectly and stays in securely. The rotating back is really a great concept. The construction of the case is solid, stitching is near perfect, and does not look cheap in any way shape or form. I also really love having the elastic band -- it wraps around the back of the case to keep it closed tight when not in use, a really great feature. The case, despite seeming very tough in construction, is also very light, which to me is essential feature with the iPad mini. I hate cases that add so much bulk to the device that it takes away from what the device manufacturer did to make it small -- this case complements the size of the iPad mini very well. All of that being said, I have two gripes. First, the notches that are used to adjust the viewing angle kind of stink. I had an 1st gen "regular" iPad with a case that had dips in the case instead of notches; dips was way more effective. This Targus Versavu case has very small plastic ridges that come up. The three most upright positions sit very well, the third okay, and the last two almost never stay put -- in other words it slips out and goes flat. To be fair, it only happens with the last two on unstable surfaces, such as a couch, your lap or stomach if you're laying on your back, or on a plane. If you're sitting upright at a desk all positions are okay and stay put. Still, it's kind of frustrating because I am rarely sitting at a desk with this a 90% of the time am relaxing with it. My second gripe also pertains to the notches. Because they are raised and plastic, they leave lines on your screen when you close it. It's annoying to open it and see them every time. Not as noticeable when the screen is on but very noticeable when its black -- takes away from the beauty of the device in my opinion. This is with and without a clear protective film on the face of the device. Had they made the case with dips rather than ridges, there would be no contact with the screen. Overall I do like this case and I think when you look at the iPad mini cases currently available and the pricing (especially on Amazon), you'll be hard-pressed to find a medium-duty case better than this one. Despite my few issues with it, and let's be honest nothing is ever 100% perfect, I would definitely recommend this case.

Designed for the original iPad Mini, not 2,3 or4.
This is the third one I've had. I use my iPad mini everyday so the case gets a work out. The swivel works perfectly to switch between portrait and landscape. I use the tab on the outside cover for support instead of the rubber lines. I purchased this because my previous one had worn from use. This is a sturdy, user friendly option for keeping the mini safe with all of the features easily accessible. I am revising my review. The previous case I had worked perfectly. This one did for a few weeks then the iPad started popping out of it. Very disappointed. Update: Because this case doesn't fit my iPad mini 2 Model A1489 and because I had one that did fit and that I loved, I called Targus customer service yesterday. I gave them the model number of this case and my iPad mini. In short order they were able to inform me that this case was designed for the original iPad mini, not for any other. This makes sense to me because the first iPad mini I had fit a this case perfectly. Not so for the iPad mini 2 Model A1489. Model numbers for the iPad mini are on the back of the device. This also explains why so many reviewers have had the same problem.

Would be great if my iPad actually stayed put
I was very happy with my Targus case for my full-sized iPad and was optimistic about the mini version. PROS For the most part I like it. The case color is what I expected. The case seems well-built and I have confidence that it gives my precious mini the protection I hoped for. The case holds my mini securely without any part of the screen obscured. Some complained about how tight the fit is. I don't have a problem with that. It takes a little effort to get it in and out, but for me that is a good thing. It is nice that the case allows me to rotate from a portrait or landscaping standing position, although I use the portrait standing position very rarely. (I like reading books in portrait, but not from a standing position - I just turn the case in my hand.) I am also happy with the headphone jack. Unlike the Kindle case for my kids' Kindle Fire, this mini case has a generous cut-out for the headphone jack, allowing me to plug my headphones in all the way. CONS My primary issue is that the 6 rubber stops designed to hold the mini at a variety of angles when propped on a table are too flat. It is the rare occasion when my mini stays in the position I placed it in. Throughout out my day at work, I find myself constantly propping the thing back up. Another complaint, though quite minor, is the design of the Apple logo cut-out. While attractive, the flap makes it look like you are supposed to open the case from this side. I intially tried to open it there and feared that I comprised the strength of the adhesive. So far all appears to be well, however. Overall - If protection is your main concern, I highly recommend this case. But if you expect to use it in a propped up position most of the time, I suggest trying to find another case.

Love my new case
Just received my new revolving case. This is the 4th revolving case I have purchased for my mini and so far, it is the best. It is a very sturdy, hard cover, not like the other ones I've had. The iPad stands easily without falling down, even when it is on my lap. It does not have the sleep/wake feature like some other iPad cases, but I am happy with that. My last case would wake my iPad while the cover was closed and run the battery down. As far as lines on my iPad, that other reviewers mentioned, I have not seen that on mine. Good price too. I would definitely recommend this one.

Protects the iPad nicely
I like this case, as it preserves the reason we have an iPad - it lets you keep the tablet experience and still it protects the equipment. I bought two of these casees as gifts for covers for my 5 year old grand children's iPads to preserve them. The kids love them. They turn the tablets sideways and use it as an easel for FaceTime easily. It is still easy for them to take photos and video, read books and play games. The best thing about this case over the others, and the reason I bought it is that it covers the corners and protects them. If it is dropped, that is the most likely place it will be broken. Kudos for coming up with a cover that preserves the tablet experience and protects it so well.
