Aoyue 863 Infrared Preheater with Variable Temperature for reworking PCB's

Initially I thought this preheater could be expenisve compared to some cheaper alternatives, but when I dug a bit deeper into a) the PID temperature control b) suitability for UK power sockets (some of the others had issues with the power cable getting hot due to the product being designed for regions with different mains voltage). I have only done limited testing so far, but the unit seems well made and the large hot plate area allows you to work on large pcbs like motherboards as well as smaller graphics cards. All in all, I am please I spent the extra on this product and was happy to benefit from fast shipping (many products take weeks to come from China) and the safety of purchasing through Amazon (some of the Chinese products area excellent value, but they are sometimes hard to judge in terms of quality, Amazon would allow for hassle free returns).
