Great pair
These are great. The size is quite convenient and smaller than the porro prism alternative. They are a little heavier than I expected, but they are fine for what I use them for. The caps are excellent, especially in comparison to the Nikon series. I tried the Nikon's initially and the caps just fell out of the objective sockets. On these, image is very clear and clean. There is some barely noticeable purple fringing around certain features during bright daytime viewing, as well as some light spherical distortion which is apparent when panning, but neither to any extent that bothers me in the slightest. The field of view is nice and wide, and the eye relief and exit pupil is a major upgrade from the 10x32's I've been using. I have been using these partly as astronomy observation binoculars and they are just what I've been looking for. I can see a lot of detail in the sky.My chief complaint is minor but is regarding the objective lens caps, whose stretchy retention ring (should stay permanently affixed to the outside diameter of each objective's housing) is not tight enough to hold itself on. I solved the problem by wrapping a zip tie over each of these bands and tightening it such that it can never slip off. Someday, functional lens caps on binoculars will arrive, but apparently not too soon.

Remember those really great binoculars we took to Alaska?
These binoculars are great! I bought them for my Mother's bucket list trip to Alaska to view the glaciers, wilderness, wildlife etc. The clarity and detail was spectacular, all the way to the edge of the field of view! The binoculars were very popular for this trip, and have been quite useful at home and traveling locally as I like to pull the car over often and do a little bird watching. (Eagles are very grand!)I especially like that the thumb pads have a soft (padded) quality that eases the grip from that naturally excited viewer behind the lens. However, the front lens covers have a rubber ring that keeps the lens caps from falling off and getting lost when that excited viewer wants a quick look. These rings seem to be more of a hinderance. I'm not too keen on the rubber rings, but not a deal-breaker for me.... If I had to do it all over again, I would purchase them again. Definitely Recommend. Enjoy your trip! Make (clear, crisp) memories!

Great optics. Possible lens cap fix.
Great optics. I'm glad I purchased the 8X instead of the 10X. Even the 8X is a little hard for me to keep steady when trying to resolve fine details at a distance. I like the weight and size.I deducted one star for the oft-complained-of front lens cap retainer rings and the small case. The retainer rings pull off with almost no pressure. Just picking up the binoculars with the lens caps off results in the rings falling off the barrel. I was ready to get out the rubber cement, but discovered that you can wrap a tight rubber band just in front of the retainer rings and problem solved, at least temporarily. The case could have been 2 cm larger. As it is now, you have to really stuff the binoculars into the case if you've attached the neck strap. Both minor complaints, but why have to hassle with something like this on a new purchase?

Great binoculars. Very easy to use and clear glass
Great binoculars. Very easy to use and clear glass. The focus lock is handy. I used it more than I expected. I can attest to the ruggedness of the binoculars...my patrol partner left them on top of my car when we were switching out vehicles. They were found later by another officer in the middle of an intersection...apparently run over by a car. The casing on the left tube was cracked and the left eye piece came off. The right tube was fine and completely functional. Granted, there might be binos designed to handle that type of punishment and still work flawlessly, but for the money these are great, quality binoculars that are tougher than their price point.I plan to send them back to Bushnell to see if they can be fix. If they can't be fixed I'll buy them again.

Remarkable.
These are remarkably good binoculars, and I believe they represent the highest value in the market today. These aren't the previous generation "EX" bins, which apparently had some quality issues. They are a new generation of Excursions with modern optical glass & coatings mounted in a rugged, well-designed body. Everything comes together beautifully on these. I compared both the 8x and 10x version of these with the Nikon Monarch 7, and while the Monarch was very slightly better, they cost over 3x as much as these Bushnells. Despite the Excursion's lack ED glass lenses, there was no discernible chromatic aberration when viewing in bright sunlight (definitely a rarity here in Portland during January!) . The image is wide, bright and sharp. I don't believe you will find better binoculars for anywhere near the price. You won't be disappointed.

These are excellent binoculars for the price
These are excellent binoculars for the price. I have a pair of Alpen 10 x 42 and they are optically similar and I think make by the same Chinese company. The Alpens from Costco were a tad cheaper and, therefore, slightly better buy. Chinese binoculars have vastly improved in the past 5 years. Phase prism-coatings are more common now and buyers should demand them. I have an older Nikon Monarch binocular, which is no better optically. Bushnell is a progressive company and tries to offer good products for price. I trust this company's medium and better grade products.

Great find
Sturdy.Plenty light.Excellent clarity.Easy to focus. I wear either glasses or contacts and the differential changes in each case, so I need to check it every time and it's very smooth. The lens caps don't stay on, but I knew that from the other reviews. I lost one my second time out, but managed to retrace my steps and find it. I put rubber bands on temporarily. Some sort of simple lanyard would be ideal.I'm not a binoc expert, but my mom has $1600 Swarovski's that I have used and I can't tell the difference. I have a couple of older pairs of Bushnell glasses that are crap, so these surprised me greatly.Got another pair for my son after I saw how nice they were.

So Delighted, bought second pair
First pair was a gift which we "test drove" first. So delighted we bought a second pair for ourselves. Admittedly we have never paid as much for binoculars, nevertheless these are outstanding . We have old(er) eyes and these add much detail and enjoyment to bird and critter watching from the back yard and at the feeder. In frequently cloudy , low light Maritime conditions we find the image is still sharp and clear. I considered 8X due to comments re shaking hands and images, but these are great. Also like the large field of view. Close up and distant images superbly sharp. Weight for our uses was not noticeable. All day users might notice size and weight, but would be making a tradeoff probably for image vs portability.Further note - easy to focus and stay in focus.

Best binoculars for £200.
These binos are superb the image clarity and brightness is amazing, I don't think you could get better for this price range. Just one minor complaint the rubber end cap retaining rings are to loose letting the caps fall of easily ,a little annoying as I like to keep mine on all the time. Overall very very pleased.
