TOP NOTCH Light-Feel, Non-Chemical Sunscreen
Good Molecules Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 I've been through hundreds of sunscreens in the last few years to find one that's fragrance-free, non-endocrine disrupting, and free of known problematic chemicals. Balancing that with no thick, greasy, or sticky after-feel, no obvious white cast (med to light skin tone), & proper UVA/UVB SPF protection has been almost impossible. This is the best I've found after an exhaustive search through all types of formulas & applications (lotions, sticks, sprays). PROS • Broad Spectrum, SPF 30 • Free of EWG's stated endocrine-disrupting chemicals, known at time of posting • Absorbs quickly, Non-pilling under makeup • Light Feel: approved by Sensory members of the family (to date, the only other approved sunscreen is a dry-touch, chemically-laden spray) • Great for most Sensitive Skin: non-nano, zinc oxide (13.3%) based, fragrance-free formula. No: titanium dioxide, silicones, or heavy ingredients to clog pores note: for individuals sensitive to chemical filters (found in most sunscreens, including mineral & many "natural" sunscreens) butyloctyl salicylate is an ingredient, so do a patch test. • Light formulation: can rub-in easily to prevent obvious white cast, but may see some lightening effect. For those with medium to dark skin tones: you will likely notice a white cast. • Small travel-size tube to try out product & for carry-on or small bag CONS • More noticeable white cast the darker your skin tone, due to the higher concentration of zinc oxide • Higher cost per ounce than other sunscreens available • No larger tube option I continue to look for a formulation that doesn't cause the lightening effect on darker skin tones & that's more cost effective. For now, I highly recommend this sunscreen for light to medium skin tones, given my exhaustive search & that I haven't found a better sunscreen that fits all the above criteria.

Honest review
I purchased this with my own money and this is an honest review. I really love this mineral sunscreen. I am on prescription tretinoin hydroquinone cream and have to wear sunscreen every single day in the morning and reapply during the day if I’m out in the sun. My list of things I’m looking for in a sunscreen are: 1) good for sensitive skin 2) at least 10% zinc 3) non greasy 4) blend-able minimal white cast 5) reapplies easily 6) no pilling 7) wears well under makeup 8) easy to dispense tube that doesn’t leak and is easy to carry in my bag. 9) at least 30 spf This sunscreen checks all my boxes for an every day sunscreen. For reference I am in my 30s and had combo skin prior to being on this prescription medication but now my skin is leaning more dry and sensitive. Every morning I apply my moisturizer, then this sunscreen on top and then layer my foundation and makeup over it. It looks really nice. I can’t even tell I’m wearing sunscreen. The formula of this sunscreen is very easy to blend, soft and smooth. It doesn’t leave any gross film on your skin. Like I mentioned I normally apply a second layer during the day and it works well. No weird pilling. It doesn’t sink into my pores or make my skin dry and flaky. The formula is hydrating but not too hydrating to where it’s too slick and greasy. They did a beautiful job with this formula. I normally use supergoop for my every day sunscreen but have tried tons of sunscreens. Good molecules is the best for every day, and also the best price! I love how affordable it is. I have a couple of their other products as well and they don’t disappoint. I think this formula would work well on *most* skin tones because it’s so easy to blend. I have a light skin tone though so I can’t speak for everyone. Use moisturizer first to make it easier to blend on top. The most important thing about this sunscreen is that it protects my skin. I can confirm this because with the prescription cream I’m using I would get adverse reactions if it wasn’t. Using my prescription cream paired with this sunscreen I can tell you for sure my dark spots are really lightening up and my skin tone looks more even. It’s mostly the prescription cream but the sunscreen plays a huge part too! The only time I switch to a different sunscreen is when I’m in direct sunlight for hours on end or getting wet (like at the pool or beach) in that case I wear elta md spf 50 water resistant or mdsolarscience spf 50 water resistant. For every day casual in and out of places and running around town good molecules is my #1 go to!

Good but not great
I really enjoyed this sunscreen though it smelled weird (kind of like plastic). No white cast and no stinging my eyes, for the price this is a great mineral sunscreen option

Lightweight sunscreen that is easy to spread and leaves a faint white cast
***UPDATE 07/04/2024*** I continued to purchase this sunscreen for the reasons I mentioned in my original review. I purchased more of this sunscreen in May 2024 and noticed that the texture of the lotion changed from when I originally purchased it back in February 2024. The original texture of the lotion was watery / goopy, which made it very easy to apply to the skin / face / facial hair / a beard; the new texture comes out thicker and worm-like from the container. This new texture corrects the issue I mentioned at the end of this review of having to hold the container sideways when applying and when not in use because it is no longer runny. It also corrects the issue of accidently squeezing out more lotion than intended. The downside is that it leaves a more noticeable white cast, particularly on facial hair / a beard. The lotion is still easy to apply to the face, skin, facial hair, a beard. I prefer the old texture of when it was runny / watery / goopy. ***SEE ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW*** ⬇️ The TOP REASON I WOULD RECOMMEND this sunscreen is that it is very lightweight and very easy to spread to the skin, including to facial hair / a beard, without stretching the skin. I have tried many mineral sunscreen lotions, and this one, so far, has been the easiest to apply to the skin and facial hair/a beard. Other mineral sunscreen lotions are thick and sit heavy on the skin, which is potential for stretching of the skin. I WOULD ONLY recommend applying this sunscreen to the face; use another sunscreen for the rest of the body. This sunscreen is ideal for incidental sun exposure and short periods of time out in the sun - driving locally in your vehicle, sitting near windows, or being outdoors where buildings are covering the sun. I WOULD NOT recommend for long periods of time out in the sun. Some of the reviews mentioned that this sunscreen left a white cast and left flakes on the skin - I did not experience a heavy white cast. I would say it left a faint white cast. It did, however, look flakey after it had dried. This is the primary reason why I wouldn't recommend spending long periods of time out in the sun with this sunscreen, while the other reason would be the moderate concentration of zinc oxide. The flakiness did not completely wash out. The flakiness only occurred on my face and forehead; it did not occur on my neck. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS (04/27/2024): As I previously mentioned, I highly recommend this sunscreen because of how easy it is to apply to the face, without stretching the skin. The ease of application is a main factor one should consider when purchasing sunscreen - your skin is like a rubber band and stretching it over time causes it to remain stretched. It also contains an adequate amount of zinc oxide to provide moderate UVA protection. This sunscreen is only meant for the face. Considering the amount of zinc, it only leaves a faint white cast. I am not experiencing the amount of dry flakes as when I first started using this product. Because this sunscreen is runny, do not leave it face down. Instead, lay it flat. Be careful when opening the product and when squeezing the contents out, as sometimes more lotion than desired may come out.

This is a Keeper!!
This mineral sunscreen makes my post menopausal, sensitive skin happy! Moisturizing, but not greasy. Do not use a large amount when applying or it won't absorb well and will leave a white cast. I used this around my eyes and there was no stinging. Will definitely keep purchasing this!

Decent texture and finish, but I wouldn't buy it again. Not for hyper sensitive skin.
Short review: Mid-tier sunscreen, pretty clean ingredients with mineral actives only. No white cast (or minimal), rubs in well, liquidy texture. Somewhat waxy feeling, satin to matte finish. NOT for hyper sensitive skin, especially if oils bother you. Causes mild burning sensations for a bit when applied. Longer review: I've had this sunscreen a while, and it was ok. I've had it for almost a year and didn't finish it off, if that says anything. It does blend in well, white cast sinks in quickly but the texture is... kind of waxy? Definitely somewhat tacky at first, but not in a sticky way. That goes away after a while, and ultimately the finish is somewhere between satin and matte. I prefer dewy or dewy-satin, so others might appreciate the more natural finish. Semi-moisturizing, but nothing special. I'd basically only reach for this if I knew it was gonna be really sunny out, and even then - extra sunny days I'd just go for Banana Boat. Very liquidy, which I did like because I hate thick sunscreens that are hard to rub in. But in the end, my main gripe with it is it causes burning and irritation on my hyper sensitive skin. I have to tolerate it in order to not get sunburn, but generally the irritation lasts 5-10 minutes, it wasn't too bad. (But your skincare shouldn't burn, but I hate wasting products!).

Good for highly allergic people, or sensitive to zinc
This is one of the few American sunscreens I can use. I have dry, sensitive skin. I am highly allergic to the chemicals in American sunscreens (both of the main ones that are in literally every product on the American market, even the coveted ELTA-MD fancy business). They give me hives. I am also EXTREMELY sensitive to zinc sunscreens. My skin can tolerate them better than the chemicals, but I dry out significantly. I will turn into a desert after wearing sunscreen for a single day. Good luck trying to wear mineral sunscreens all day, every day. I start to get red and flakey and gross. This is one of the only zinc sunscreens I can tolerate. It dries me out, but not nearly as much as other mineral sunscreens on the market. I can actually wear this for several days in a row without seeing my face flaking off. It feels nice to put on, blends in smoothly, doesn't leave a white cast. I love the texture. I HIGHLY recommend this product for American protection. The only other sunscreen I can tolerate is PURITO DAILY SOFT TOUCH, which is my current HG, except it takes forever to order. It does dry me out, just not as bad as others. It has higher SPF than Good Molecules, which is the only reason I use it more. Honorable mentions are SKIN1004 AIR-FIT SUNSCREEN and BEAUTY OF JOSEON RELIEF SUN, but I can't use either regularly because my skin also hates niacinamide.
