The Best Entry Level Tool…Ever
The media could not be loaded. I bought my SainSmart Genmitsu 3018 ProVer v2, June 28, 2023. I can’t imagine a better entry level CNC unit, for beginners and hobbyists. I included a recent video of the unit just beginning a prototype carve, and also a pic of the finished prototype on mdf. After a couple of setup changes, I’ll carve the final plaque on a nice hardwood piece. The setup for this CNC machine was very easy because of pre-assembly of the wiring harness to the system board and other components. Nothing was missing and the small parts were extremely well marked and organized. Everything went together perfectly. The setup and initial use documentation was exceptional and perfectly helpful. This CNC machine has performed perfectly and is EXACTLY as SainSmart claimed in their marketing. I have upgraded the unit with a longer Y-axis and a more powerful spindle-motor. Both upgrades went flawlessly. The engineering and construction of this unit and add-on parts is perfect.I have needed to reach out to SainSmart support a couple of times for help on something that was my fault. SainSmart Support is outstanding in every way; easy to contact (email in my case), very quick to respond, knowledgeable reps, and the same rep stays with me throughout whatever “thing” I’m working through. Simply excellent support and obviously a well run business.I give this product and the SainSmart company my highest possible rating and recommendation.

I like it!
While the offline controller isn't intuitive this is a pretty great little machine.Setup was a breeze.Pretty rigid, pretty flat. enough torque thanks to screws instead of belts to slip out on you.Bought specifically for 1 PCB, but genuinely liked it and kept it instead of giving it away or reselling it.Added the Y axis extension upgrades and the 20k RPM spindle (please note don't go from 0-20Krpm without ramping up or you could fry the board. I've dumped a Fusion postprocessor with configurable ramp parameters in the Fusion 360 forums ages ago, I think I might have also sent it to the FB group.)I may have also dumped a DXF of the bed holes, but SainSmart will provide a pdf if you ask them.

Started rough but customer service saved the day, Thank you Skye!
It isn't often where I feel like I have to change a review so people know that even when the product fails on multiple fronts, customer service can always save the day! My original review is below so you can see how bad this started out. I want to thank Skye, a customer support rep for Sainsmart, for their efforts. She saw my review and the original emails and jumped in. She started off by giving me a significant amount on a gift card from my troubles and offered solutions. She saved this entire process and I will happily recommend them to anyone who wants to dive into CNC. The original machine had two issues, missing wires and both Y and Z motors did not work (I wonder if it was a return or it got hammered in shipping?). Because of Skye's efforts, I reluctantly decided to try and exchange the units and I am glad that I did. The new unit works great and I have completed multiple test runs and one project. I made a tray to hold our salt and pepper bowls out of old Oak Plywood from original 1977 cabinets (see pic of unfinished project) and I love how easy it was to do. I would recommend to anyone who wants to get this unit, buy the upgraded spindle, dust collection attachment, collet set with 1/4" collet, and good bits (both 1/8" and 1/4" shanks).I still say they need to improve their instructions and update them. When Windows XP and 7 are the two choices offered for configuring the COM port, an update is needed.. If you search their support site you can find the updated info for Win 10,11 and I understand this is an inexpensive entry level product with limited profitability. I would argue that the owner's manual is the first impression customers get and when their product isn't working, there is nothing more frustrating then zero help from the instruction manual and bad translations with typos! The instructions for assembly are fine.Thank you Skye! Now I can get the aluminum spindle mount.ORIGINAL REVIEW - I can't give them 0 stars but I would like to! If you want customer service, don't buy this product. They forgot my Z-axis motor wire and expected me to pay $50 in shipping costs to get the cable.....they gave me tariff excuses... I responded that this is unacceptable and they should come up with a better solution. Their response was to lower it to $25. I will have to fix it myself since they can't seem to get me a basic serial computer cable, and I will make my own cable...Furthermore, their instructions for software installation are terrible. I have experience with 3d printing and servo motors so I will be able to track down what is wrong with the software (both y and z axis aren't working).I recommend to newbies entering the CNC world.....spend a little more and get something from a local company that will support the product. Buy at your own risk!

Nice little unit for a beginner
Easy setup but the software is not compatible with Mac OS so I just use easel for now.

Don't do it; just don't
First let me say that this product is VERY deceiving. I ordered this bundle of the 3018-PROVer v2 with the brushless motor. I watched several YouTube videos before I decided to buy. In those videos, they show it coming with a nice variety of bit. Well first let me say that the brushless motor shipped separate & from the opposite side of the USA. It was not a bundle or a kit at all. After arrival, I found that the directions do NOT match what I had purchased. The website & Amazon show different stuff other than what I received. In my opinion, they aren’t compatible. Next up is the fact they give you a bunch of soft wood bits. All are the same, so you’re forced to immediately buy more. Then once they arrive, you learn that they only gave you 1 of 15 collets! That’s more parts you have to buy. Throw on a spill board, dust shoe, and you’ve just about got $500 in a “beginner” machine… which for me doesn’t work or spin up. I never even got to try a test piece. This has left me with buyer’s remorse and I’m returning it all! All this waiting only to have disappointment after disappointment arrive to me. I can’t suggest this product or name brand to anyone! Sorry, but move on and don’t think twice! -- UPDATE: Support just emailed me and let me know that I would have to SOLDER points onto the board to make the brushless motor work! Who sells a kit that doesn't work and requires advanced modifications like that!? They do! Here you go, some soldering and modification required!
