Now I get what all the fuss is about
I've read more than I care to admit on lots of forums and reviews about the benefits of clay bars. My first foray was using a Farecla G3 clay mitt which did indeed remove contaminants but also marred the paint finish despite my following the instructions to the letter. I purchased the Bilt Hamber clay bar out of curiosity as much as anything, could so many reviews be wrong? To the point. I came to wash my Discovery (Santorini metallic black) only to find that some personage had covered it with paint spatter, you know the sort of spatter you get from paint rollers when applying emulsion. I tried T-cutting, which did remove it eventually but took ages, then I tried more aggressive mechanical means but also they took ages and marred the finish. I then tried the clay bar having convinced myself that there was no way that this would remove what appeared to be dried on magnolia emulsion or masonry paint. Initially I tried the clay bar (about a tenth of the bar) on a less visible side panel and then the bonnet using a speed detailer as a lubricant. I wanted to minimise the risk of stuffing the finish up and having to look at it every second that I drove the car! I needn't have worried. It took the spatter off with very little effort leaving a glass like finish that demanded to be touched and absolutely no signs of marring. I then went over the treated areas with a cheaper carnauba wax ( a Carplan product from Wilkos). The depth of shine is amazing and really brought out the metallic flecks. I then tried it on the rest of the car including the lower areas of the car doors which were heavily contaminated with tar - contamination that bad that Auto Glym tar remover had barely touched it. Again the clay bar lifted the tar off with very little effort leaving glassy smooth finish. I then tried the clay bar using a fairly strong solution of Bilt Hamber shampoo (5 mls in maybe a quarter of a bucket of water) and the results were equally impressive. I'm not quite brave enough just to try plain water and for the cost of a bit of shampoo, why would you risk it? Long story short, I'm delighted with the clay bar and the results achieved using it. I can certainly attest that it easily removes dried on emulsion/masonry paint and tar using both a quick detailer or just soapy water as a lubricant. The results are spectacular. I wonder if it is just as effective at removing the idiot that got paint all over my car in the first place!

Bilt and Hamber = quality.
Bilt and Hamber make quality products...period. If you care for your car then the little bit of extra expense is worth it. It definitely removes dirt, even after you have washed the car. Its very easy to use but I suggest you have a look on YouTube as to EXACTLY how it is used.

Overall , gave an excellent result.
Instructions ok but need a little more advice for first timers. Soft seems good, you can easily slice into small blocks at a time and for one or two car panels you can fold over and kneed in to keep 'fresh' and not introduce particles to scratch. Will quickly look 'brown' even if car is new/clean if there is a any suggestion surface of paint is less than smooth/little "goose bumpy". This is as expected. Keep checking no scratching, change to new piece if in doubt. End result - excellent. Super slippy smooth even before you start to wax for protection. Note - my car was just one year old. Ford special red paint but had probably only been cleaned with wash and go products. This product bought back to showroom smoothness. I do not know how older paints would be. Note: Only 4 stars because instructions could be better especially if not used before. Some help from You Tube videos but a good one needed for real help.

Just works brilliantly
These clay bars are great. My car had lots of tar and stubborn dirt that did not wash off. The clay bar lifts it off effortlessly (no pressure required as it is the side to side movement that lifts tar and dirt off). You can really see and feel the difference, working one panel at a time. I pre-washed the car and washed/ polished afterwards (the bar does leave some streaks). You can actually hear it as tar and bits are lifted off the body work. It's very easy and satisfying. I used a quarter piece so I think you would get four uses on an average car. Just kneed It's a product that really deserves a 5 star rating, it just works so well and is actually worthy of the hype. The paintwork looks and feels almost brand new now.

Easy and quick to use.
After spending an hour trying to t-cut my car I decided to give up, my paintwork was very rough to touch, kind of sandpaper like. I did some research on the best way to solve this problem, still a bit dubious I ordered this clay bar, on arrival it was packaged in a tight fitting plastic box, the bar itself is approximately the size of a bar of soap, I washed my car thoroughly was a degreasing shampoo, I then cut the bar into four pieces and started on my paintwork, I had a hose to hand for the recommended lubrication. Within two minutes I was totally amazed. The clay bar was effortless to use and removed everything on my paintwork which made it feel rough and look matted. There was a lot of dirt present on the bar when being used and because the clay bar is white it clearly shows you what it was removing. The paintwork was perfectly smoot to touch, it took me approximately 40 mins to go round the car with the clay bar and a further 45 mins to apply a good quality car wax. My car looked and felt superb after this treatment, I don’t normally write reviews, but after trying this clay bar I was that impressed with it I had to write one.

Decent Clay Bar
Another quality product from Bilt Hamber. Really good value for money. As others have said, this is really good as a top up clay bar, I've only given it 4 stars as because it's softer it can take a bit longer before it lifts all the contaminants off. But it is really easy to work with and only needing water as a lubricant is another plus. Very happy with this and would recommend.

Warum diese Knete? Es gibt so viele verschiedene Produkte für die gründliche Lackreinigung durch Kneten - Meguiar's, Petzoldt's Chemical Guys und wer nicht alles stellt die Dinger her bzw. vertreibt sie. Alle haben eins gemeinsam: Sie brauchen ein Gleitmittel, damit sie keine unschönen Anhaftungen auf dem Lack hinterlassen. BiltHamber braucht kein teures Gleitmittel, es reicht einfach Wasser. Reichlich aufsprühen, die weiße Knete ist extrem weich und nimmt den anhaftenden Schmutz perfekt auf. Weich wie die weiße Meguiar's, aber effektiver in der Reinigung. Welten besser als die blaue Magic Clean, die auch sehr schnell bei kühleren Temperaturen zu hart wird. Diese BiltHamber kann man sogar um den Gefrierpunkt einsetzen, sie ist dann immer noch halbwegs weich. Die Kosten der Nutzung sind also geringer, weil das Gleitmittel nicht benötigt wird. Sie kommt in 200 gr, das ist natürlich ein ziemlicher Brocken. Mit dem Messer vier gleich große Stücke - das ist dann ausgewalkt die perfekte Menge für leichtes Arbeiten und macht die Anschaffung vergleichsweise preiswert. Wie bei allen Kneten gilt: Berührt sie den Boden, ist sie Müll. Die Knete ist so "klebrig", daß wirklich sofort Dreck dran klebt und damit will niemand seinen Lack verschandeln. Beim Kneten gleitet sie ohne jeden Druck perfekt über den Lack, so daß auch bei mehrfachem Abfahren derselben Fläche keine Spuren im Lack zurückbleiben. Das Durchkneten bei "Dreckaufnahme" geht der weichen Konsistenz wegen sehr einfach. Da der Preis auch noch in Ordnung ist - fünf von fünf Sternen.

Compré este producto porque me encontré el coche con puntos de pintura blanca, de alguna obra o vaya usted a saber. Al ser azul oscuro, tenía la opción de dejarlo así y que pareciera una noche estrellada; sin embargo, opté por ver cómo podía quitarlos..... Por supuesto, antes pregunté en carrocerías y la solución era pulir el coche (de 300 para arriba) o pintarlo (más aún). Así que me puse a buscar soluciones más económicas, y es cuando di con este maravilloso producto. He tardado algo así como 4 horas, pero ha quedado impecable. De hecho, sólo he usado 1/4 (creo que incluso algo menos) de los 200 gramos que trae, aunque eso ya es cosa de cada uno, porque yo he apurado cada trozo, pero lógicamente podemos coger uno nuevo cuando el anterior esté ya sucio de todo lo que arrastra. Yo lo he usado así: en una mano, un pulverizador con agua (que hay que ir dando para humedecer la zona) y en la otra la arcilla para ir borrando las motas de pintura. Y digo bien lo de "borrar", porque es como si se usara una goma de borrar. Hay que darle con algo de vigor, claro, pero tampoco hace falta deslomarse (sobre todo si el trozo es nuevo, que limpia todo casi sin esfuerzo). Y vale tanto para la chapa como para los cristales. En los plásticos no tenía muchos puntos, pero me da la impresión de que le cuesta más. El caso es que según pasas la arcilla notas los puntos "ásperos", que van desapareciendo a medida que la pasas (y sí es cierto que va dejando muy suave la zona, como creo haber leído en algún comentario. Yo, de todas formas, no lo quería para eso, pero bienvenido sea). Y, como digo, es aún más veloz cuando el trozo es nuevo, mientras que si ya llevamos un rato usándolo éste se ensucia y le cuesta algo más seguir quitando motas de pintura, pero lo sigue haciendo. En definitiva, que en 4 horas he dejado el coche como antes de la "lluvia" de pintura y está absolutamente perfecto. De modo que me he ahorrado no menos de 300 euros, ha quedado igual y además con el indisimulado orgullo de haberlo hecho yo. Recomendable 100% para aquellos que se vean en la misma situación de tener un coche a lunares, por minúsculos que sean, y les apetezca volver a tenerlo como era antes.

Me habían hablado de estas clay bar. Compré esta que indica que es suave por si acaso estropeaba la pintura. En mi caso es suficiente. Suelo limpiar cada poco el coche, encerarlo y demás mimos, pues bien, pasé esta clay bar, echando agua con jabon con un spray y en la parte trasera del vehiculo y en los bajos de las puertas delanteras es increible la suciedad que quita. Al pasar la mano por encima de la chapa se parecia que está totalmente lisa. Es suficiente cantidad, lo podré utilizar para realizar este procedimiento varias veces, es laborioso y se tarda tiempo pero el resultado merece la pena. Me recomendaron después dar cera, el resultado final es como salido de fabrica.

Produit superbe pour effacer les pollutions de carrosseries. Une fois lubrifiée la carosserie a un aspect superbe après passage. Produit facile a nettoyer et solide et maleable.
