No Need to Experiment! I Did For You!
Hey, everybody! Extreme researcher and mixologist here, so I looked for the best Taro in the business - this is what I've landed pretty solidly on! I've experimented with a bunch of different bases, so here is how it will work with your favorite milk ... * cow's milk: 4/5. best with honey as a natural sweetener, the level of creaminess depends on your milk (whole vs skim vs half & half) * almond milk: 5/5. great creaminess and taste balance! Easiest to work with across different providers (translation: you'd get consistent results no matter what brand of almond milk you use) * oat milk: 5/5. my personal favorite! wonderful creaminess and taste balance, especially with a bit of added sweetness (I recommend agave) * soy milk: 3/5. wouldn't recommend 100% as soy is too creamy for this Taro to fully dissolve, and it will be difficult to taste Okay, now with these bases we start to get into some of the "chalky" notes some reviewers have mentioned ... I'd say these bases a produce a "powderier" effect, but again this is COMPLETELY dissuaded by picking a milk-based base. * milk powder: 3/5. Tried this for going camping. Not everything dissolves since the water is over-saturated, even when boiled. Still has a bit of creaminess to it, though! * chai concentrate: 3/5. Why in the world did I try this? I'm a bit crazy, that's why. This taste is VERY different, and the color changes, but it is comparably thick to the milk (and substitute) based samples. * chai powder: 2/5. Tried for camping again, does add a bit of creaminess but still changes the color and tasting notes, as well as not dissolving completely (like the milk powder). * water-based tea: 2/5. if you plan to make TRADITIONAL, then this powder may not work for you as it is clearly meant for mainstream (westernized) production, but that is literally the ONLY contingency; in this case, the color is less vibrant (think: mulberry) and has a bit of a powdery aftertaste * water: 3/5. Color doesn't change this time, but you still get a bit of that aftertaste. Okay, crazy over-testing aside, this was the best quality for the price I could find (keep an eye on pricing trends as it will experience spikes). A whole bag gets me through ~46 drinks (1 cup + ice, not venti), so would definitely recommend. Let me know if you have any questions or want photo references for the comparable bases! Bottom line: Get this. Easy to work with on milk-like bases and has a naturally delicious flavor, especially with the recommended honey or agave!

This is the best taro powder on the market and the amount you get is well worth the price!
Has some troublesome ingredients so look at those.. but really good. Don’t use water. Use any type of milk and or tea. Don’t add sugar. High sugar content already. True taro taste. Can be used for anything, bubble tea is perfect with this and you don’t need anything else to make it; I didn’t even have to put bubbles and will drink it alone with milk sometimes. Easy to mix into anything you want. Have used it to make Taro ice cream and with white chocolate melted and mixed with the taro powder for taro chocolates... This taste so amazing. It has a very strong familiar taro taste. The same stuff most shops use. It’s good and it doesn’t need anything added to it. I add it to milk, not water. You mix it and then add in your boba. It is the perfect sweetness, the best texture and dissolves so easily. I can even mix it into ice cream, cookie dough, anything I want to flavour. I also bought honey dew from them and it was great too. It’s addicting almost. The bag is large and heavy and full to the top and last a long time. You can customise how strong tasting you want by adding a small scoop. I do 1-2 table spoons to a huge glass with cold milk and half a cup of cooked and sugar marinated boba. I don’t buy bubble tea out anymore because I can just make it at home and it taste exactly the same for a fraction of the cost. This last and last and last so you end up saving so much and realising how much money places make on bubble tea. Most places charge nearly 5 bucks for one and it probably doesn’t even cost them a dollar to make if you calculate price per cup. This taste so very yummy and I’ve found so many uses for it. Taro ice cream was really good. The honey dew is excellent and it’s worth the cost. If you ever had taro bubble tea before then this taste exactly the same. It has the same exact flavour.

This is my favorite brand of Taro Powder
This particular Taro powder is exactly like the one used at Sencha Tea shops. It’s very purple, isn’t clumpy and it is sweet. It is NOT the kind used at other tea places such as Tea Garden where it is lighter purple and more “natural”, and has actual pieces of tarp root in it which gives theirs a texture. This one is smooth, purple and yes artificial like. And if that’s the one you prefer, As I prefer it, you will like this brand. Of course it contains artificial purple coloring and non dairy cream, because this is not a health food, it is used to create bright vibrant looking purple tarp flavored bubble teas. Real Taro root is NOT bright purple, it only has purple lines in it. They color most Taro drink mixes. If you dislike artificial colors then look elsewhere. This tarp powder has the wonderful “ sugar cookie“ scent and essence Of the sweet wonderful taro drinks from Sencha. And if you make it at home you can use as little or as much as you prefer, add into it the toppings of your choice like Black tapioca boba, popping pearl boba, flavored jellies or egg pudding. We bought egg pudding powder To go into the drinks and it is exactly like at the Local Bubble tea places make. The ratio of tarp flavor to non dairy cream in this brand is perfect. Some brands are mostly non dairy creamer, and taste mostly like creamer too. They are also lighter purple, probably because they contain more creamer and less taro. This stuff is not healthy, and it has a ton of sugars. A person should know this prior to buying and already realize that taro drinks are not health foods, I am not taking away stars from my review based on it “ being unhealthy”, because of someone is that health conscious, and worried so much about sugars, then why would they even be buying a product like this? If you love sweet taro drinks and want to make them at home, yes this powder does cost more than I think it maybe should cost, but it’s still a whole lot cheaper than going to Sencha or other local tea places, and this powder will allow you to do that at home. Just get yourself some brown sugar tapioca boba balls and some egg pudding powder and your all set.

Very good Taro Powder
I read quite a few complaints about the lack of directions. There are no directions because this is a BASE and it's sold commercially. You make your own recipe. If you go to a Bubble Tea shop, they all have their own method for using the powders. This is not an "add water and drink" sort of deal. No shop owner uses their powders like that. Every shop has their own method for making it and that's precisely why there are no directions on the bag. Here are a few pointers and tips....First, Taro Tea is almost always served blended...not on the rocks.... so forget your shaker. Bust out your blender and blend it with ice like a smoothie. Secondly, to the folks suggesting milk...I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but traditional Asian milk tea doesn't have milk. They use non-dairy creamer (i.e. Coffee Mate). There are two main reasons for this: First, Asians suffer from lactose intolerance at a much higher rate than other races and they don't want to make their clientele sick. Second, it's cheaper to use non-dairy creamer than milk in a commercial setting. Yes, you can mix milk in with this powder, but it won't taste like the bubble tea you get at your local bubble tea shop. As appalling as it may be to long-time drinkers of Bubble Tea, that's Coffee Mate you've been drinking at your high-end Bubble tea shop all these years. That's not a bad thing, either....that non-dairy creamer plays a critical role in getting your home-made Taro tea tasting like the stuff you pay $5.00 a cup for at the shop. Bottom line: you will not achieve the same taste as a commercial bubble tea shop using real milk. To get the perfect Taro tea, you're going to have to do some experimentation because no two shops use the same proportions and I'm certain your local bubble tea shop proprietor isn't going to give away their secrets. What one person expects may not be what another does. So know what the powder is and experiment. You might be able to make it even better than you're used to. Know that this is a 3-in-1 powder that contains creamer, tea powder, and sugar. It is just like the powders used in professional shops. In fact, Q Bubble sells this very formula commercially. I see no need for additional sugar beyond what's in the powder, particularly if you're soaking your boba in simple syrup before putting them in the cup. The sweetness is just right to my taste, but some shops to add sugar or fructose so if it's not sweet enough, add to taste. I make mine like this (for a 16 oz cup). I use 4 oz of Ice, 10 oz of water, 1/3 C Taro Powder, 2 tbsp Coffee Mate. Blend well, serve with Boba soaked in simple syrup. It comes out fine for me. More powder/less water = stronger. More coffee mate = creamier. You can alter your recipe for size but there's no recipe that's going to satisfy every taste. Having used many powders I can say that this taro powder is as good as any on the market.

Just like every boba shop! My ratio is detailed in my comment.
So this tastes just like the mix they use in the majority of boba shops, I will say the mix already seems like the perfect sweetness to me, but if you like your taro tea on the less sweet kind you may not like it, I typically get normal sweetness at every boba shop I go to and this seems about right. I also do not add tea to it, I believe theres enough tea flavor as is, my go to ratio is below for anyone like me who was curious, will add instructions if you want more tea. I found for me the perfect ratio is 1 cup of milk to 1/4 cup of mix. And to mix you will want to get the milk steamy in a sauce pan over medium heat and then mix with the powder in the contianer of your choice, obviously if its not heat proof maybe mix in a bowl that is and then when cool pour into it. I found whatever liquid your using needs to be hot for it to blend easily. I heard people mix it with 1/4 cup of hot water or 1/4 cup of hot black tea, then pour that in cold milk so they don't have to do dishes or wait for milk to heat up. Also a possibility, like I said earlier I found it already had enough black tea flavor that it was unnecessary. Your own ratios may be vastly different than mine! Expiriment, I hear people put in some half and half or nondairy creamer as well. I'm happy to keep mine simple but don't rest until your happy with it! • 1/2 cup of Qbubble Taro Mix • 1 cup milk • 2 cups of heavy cream • 1/2 cup of sugar (May want to try 1/4 next time) • 1/4 tspn of kosher salt or 1/8 tspn of table salt (salt enhances flavor! Will not be salty trust!) • 1 tspn of vanilla extract Heat Milk in a saucepan and when it starts to release steam add the mix and sugar whisk until fully incorporated. Then remove from heat. Let cool and add the taro milk mix with the rest of the ingredients, whisk until incorporated then keep in fridge until cool enough for your machine.

Very addicting!!!
We love this powder! I had my first "Taro" Bubble Tea last Saturday with my husband at a new local Asian restaurant. The food was delicious and when we went to get desserts we saw the Taro Bubble Tea. I had watched a YouTube video by Angel Wong the morning of and since I adore Angel I told my husband we had to try. We got one and it was positively delicious, so we ordered another. I told him when we get home I'm going to order the Taro powder Angel recommend on her vblog. He said get two bags because we're going to be drinking this at least twice a day (the bag does not come with instructions on how to prepare). I ordered with Prime, we got it Sunday. How I make Taro tea - take 8 oz of milk (16 oz for 2 teas). Bring the milk to a simmer on the stove top in a sauce pan. Add 2-3 tablespoons of this Taro Powder (because my husband likes it sweet I use 3, I can get away with just 3 teaspoons). Stir until powder is dissolved, make take a few minutes as the powder sinks to the bottom of the sauce pan. Pour over ice (cold for hubby) or in a mug (hot for me). I only use the Boba on weekends as I usually make coconut boba tea. We are addicted! We have at least one Taro tea a day, but I made it for my husband three times yesterday, morning, lunch, after dinner. I use the warm milk to dissolving as the consistency of this powder is like sugar. Smells delicious! How I make Peaks milk powder milk (love this stuff, so creamy, I make a 32 oz batch three time a week and keep it in the fridge). Take 3 heaping tablespoons of milk powder to 32 oz of hot water (this is why mine is so creamy, you can get away with 2 tablespoons). Put the milk powder/water in a large mason jar, seal the lid and shake it up for about 3 minutes. Unscrew the lid some and let cool on the counter for about 1/2 hour, then screw the lid back on and shake it for a few seconds, seal the mason jar and put it in the fridge to chill - its the only milk I can stomach as Lactaid milk and milk period makes me sick. Its what I use for coffee creamer, tea creamer, cereal, custards, cakes, bread, etc.

Best
Sooooo good! Just like the taro I get at the boba shop I go to out of town. 3 tablespoons of powder, some almond milk and blend in blender. Serve over ice. THATS how to do it

Product has changed and not sure I will purchase again
I have purchased this product 10+ times now and really loved it compared to others. Unfortunately, this last purchase, the formula appears to have changed. The powder has a distinct blue color which wouldn't be a big deal, but it really affected the taste. It doesn't taste good and has a very chemical flavor. I am so disappointed and pray it is just a bad batch.
