Vitacost Kudzu Root Extract -- 1200 mg per serving - 180 Capsules

It does a great job of killing your physical urge for alcohol. When I started taking this stuff, I noticed a difference the next day. The first weekend having this stuff in my system I didn't feel any physical urge at all for alcohol, which was a big change from most weekends where I always have an urge to drink some booze. This stuff dos also a great job of blocking the "high" of drinking alcohol. 3 weeks after I started taking it, I had some small bit of wine while visiting a friend of mine and while I could enjoy the flavor of the wine I felt no real physical results from the wine. When I first drank it I felt a little "warmth" in the back of my head, but this went away very quickly and I felt no other effects from it. I almost forgot to finish the wine when I had it next to me. While this stuff does a good job of blocking physical urges for alcohol, it still requires some force of will to stay off the booze. While you don't have a physical urge for alcohol you may well have some mental urges for it. I for one found myself "missing" alcohol, as in missing the fun of drinking it. For better or worse there's no pill to deal with this, just good old force of will. But these pills help a lot with the physical urges. Also, the pills aren't that large. They're about the size of your regular non-chewable vitamin. They're a bit smaller than my fish oil pills. The dosage is two of these pills a day, WITH FOOD! I'd recommend these pills. Inexpensive, they work, and no side effects I've yet noticed. ***Review Edit*** I write this a few months later, and I can tell you this stuff is still *Incredible*. When I did stop taking the pills it took two whole months before the effects wore off. Mind you I was taking the pills every day for 2 or 3 months, but even so it took another two months for it to wear off completely. I just couldn't enjoy alcohol while on it, the stuff would have no effect on me at all. If you do try to force yourself to feel drunk on this stuff, you just get the "crazy" of alcohol without any of the other "positive" feelings from it. Like any supplement I am sure the effects vary from person to person, but for me at least this stuff is Super Effective. I doubt I will stay on it all the time, but it's a good way to make myself stop with the alcohol for a while now and again when I know I should.

Quite frankly, I was looking for something to help just a bit. I read the reviews on this, some saying "this doesn't do a thing for me" and others saying, "this works great". It certainly doesn't seem to work for everybody, from the reviews anyway. I can say this, I'd had enough, and I'm under tons of stress from both work and home. I started using too much alcohol, and that was ultimately dragging me down, (a little felt good, but that moderation thing)... I started getting cravings, and I'd have too much. I was gaining weight and getting depressed. Figured, what the heck, I'll try this and see what happens, it doesn't cost very much. I took my first pair of pills a while ago now, (I take one when I get up, and one at lunch, with food), and my it's taken a big edge off. If I need to go play darts, I'll take a third one in the evening before I go. This has helped ME a ton! I can't guarantee it will work for you, but for me, it's taken a big slice off craving. It seems to have helped with sweet cravings too. I'd recommend at least giving it a try. I did a lot of searching on google for things to reduce cravings, and I found medical literature stating that this (Kudzo root) can help more than the perscription stuff, with fewer side-effects, but only if you use a dose similar to what the orientals use. The per-pill content of this was higher than any other I found.

I haven't taken this long enough to fully feel the results of this product as far as alcohol desire goes. So far though, I 've not had any reduction in consumption or desire. Maybe I'm taking the recommended dose at the wrong time? For those of you who have had success with this product, when do you take it and do you take more than the recommended dose more than once daily?

I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to stop drinking and not have HARDCORE ALCOHOL CRAVINGS!!!! I was a weekend warrior when it came to drinking...Fridays I would get two 4 Liter bottles of Carlo Rossi Chablis or Carlo Rossi Rhine Wine!!! And depending on what General Contractor annoyed me during the week and how agitated I was I would definitely run across the street to the store and grab two 40 ounce bottles of beer!!!! During the holidays I drank EXCESSIVELY...I noticed a lot of weight gain and made a vow that starting January 2nd I was going to COMPLETELY STOP DRINKING and go back on the Atkins Diet and just stay on the induction phase!!! But I knew the cravings were going to be hard and you cannot drink ALCOHOL AT ALL DURING THE 1ST 2 WEEKS OF INDUCTION!!!! I did some research and saw that Kudzu Root Extract helped with alcohol cravings...January 2nd I had my last glass of wine that was leftover from New Year's Eve/Day and I took 2 of the Kudzu Root Extract Pills!!! The next day I woke up and I took 2 more in the morning with breakfast...I noticed my brain wasn't THINKING about a glass of wine or beer!!!! I continued to take 2 pills in the morning with breakfast for the next 4 days then cut down to just 1 pill in the morning because my alcohol cravings were no longer there!!! I did get aggravated at a stupid work email and had a sudden urge to drink again...as soon as that happened I ran and took another Kudzu Root Extract Pill!!! Within 10 minutes it went away!!!! It's now been a little over 2 weeks I HAVEN'T TOUCHED 1 DROP OF WINE OR BEER...I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED ANY ALCOHOL CRAVINGS...And I only take 1 Kudzu Root Extract Pill in the morning with my breakfast!!!! I know there are some claims saying it didn't work...but for me it did!!! I've also lost 6lbs in 2 weeks!!!! So happy that I purchased them...will definitely buy again to help me stay on my weight loss journey!!!
