I got this for shifter firmware update
As you may have known, you are unable to update shifters firmware wirelessly. However, you can connect the shifter to the battery for firmware update. This extra cable will be used for updating firmwares.

Does the job but absurdly expensive
The cable does the job, and won't need to be replaced often. My primary complaint is how much it costs, but with a proprietary connector you don't have any choice but to buy from Shimano.
