I got this for my 5lb 9week old chiweenie as we live in an apartment and she's not fully vaccinated yet. This thing works wonders! The grass came so perfectly i was honestly shocked it was lush and green! My girl immediately did her business and loves it! Like any dog/puppy she wants to bite and dig into it as long as you watch them it'll be fine. Loved this so much i ended up also ordering the XL with tray knowing she'll love it! Yes its pricey but yes i think with the quality of the grass its so worth it! The size was perfect for her! Cleaning the solids is easy just pick it up. I haven't noticed it smelling at all even with a few days of use it still looks perfect and smells fine!

‼️UPDATED TIP FOR STUBBORN DOGS‼️ 👇🏼BELOW REVIEW👇🏼 I have a stubborn 7-year-old chihuahua who goes potty outside most of the year, but every winter she refuses to go out in the rain and sneaks off to find hidden corners of my carpet instead. I tried everything to save my floors like crates, potty pads, even fake turf and nothing worked as well as Fresh Patch. Some people may feel the cost is a bit steep, but I have a few tips that more than double the typical lifespan of each patch 👇 I order the Standard size (24x16”), and with my 8 lb chihuahua I can stretch one box to almost an entire month by running a small, inexpensive grow light over it for a few hours a day. It keeps the grass dry without killing it and helps control odor for weeks, far longer than the expected lifespan. The size is perfect for my little dog, and it even worked for my 60 lb German Shepherd when we were snowed in. It definitely wore out faster (totally expected for a big dog), but in a pinch it still worked. If you have multiple dogs, I recommend tucking something absorbent underneath the grass inside the box. It prevents the patch from sitting in pooled urine and noticeably extends the life. The box itself is extremely sturdy. I’ve never had issues with leaking or mess. Even when it starts to look worn, the liner stays sealed and durable. The only time I ever had a problem was due to a mishap I witnessed upon its arrival, causing slight damage in the box (seen in images) but it was absolutely no fault of the seller or product itself and they immediately sent a replacement. By the way, their customer service is AMAZING and they were very quick to respond. Overall, this has been the most reliable solution I’ve found for picky, stubborn, or hard-to-train dogs. It’s absolutely worth the price and if you can extend the lifespan, EVEN BETTER. Most dogs naturally prefer real grass, so mine needed zero training. They sniffed it and went right away. They wouldn’t use it at all, not even sniff it! 👇🏼 So I tried something new:👇🏼 I brought the patch to my house and let my dogs use it once or twice. When I brought it back to my mom’s house, BOOM!!! Her dogs’ “territory marking instincts” kicked in the moment they smelled another dog’s scent, and now they use it perfectly every time. I know not everyone has someone who can “pre-mark” the patch for them, but you can still try something similar. If you have a friend or family member, anyone who has a dog that doesn’t live with you and your dog: You can use a paper towel to dab spots where their dog normally goes potty, then gently wipe that scent onto the grass. It’s a simple trick. Then REWARD your dog so they know they are the GOODEST puppy dog EVER!!

I recently adopted a 2 pound Pomeranian puppy. She’s extremely small...I didn’t want to use puppy pads with her because the fabric and texture of a pad feels like a carpet and would confuse her when it came to her training consistency. That’s when I found this product! I was super excited especially after seeing a lot of positive reviews and seeing that she could easily climb into it since it’s not very tall. When it arrived, it arrived early which was nice. I took it outside to my porch to open it just in case it was a mess. It wasn’t. It was nicely watered and very moist, tall, green grass...(some people complained about it being watered but the best way to ship plants is to saturate them in water.) I ran my hands through it to see if there were any bugs and nope! No bugs! ...Then I lifted up the grass to see the dirt underneath it and...BUGS...LOTS of bugs!! All kinds of them! It was like a science display of them. At first it was just little ticks or mites that were too small and tan colored to capture on camera. Then a maggot-like worm or maybe a caterpillar...also another larger mite...There was absolutely NO WAY I’d be able to put this in my home let alone her play pen where she also sleeps! I’m not sure if many owners using this indoors lifted their grass mats to see if there were any bugs but I’m glad I did!! I would rate this TWO stars since the grass is nice and this can still be used on a balcony! BUT since the seller clearly listed this product as a pad that can be used INDOORS, I find that pretty deceiving and therefore am obligated to leave a one star since this item is now completely useless to me. I’m just extremely glad I checked it before putting it in her crate. Had they listed this as an outdoor product I’d have never bought it and never had to worry about potentially exposing my 10 week old puppy and my home to mites, worms and ticks. I also would never had to worry about figuring out if I should return it or dispose of it.

Fresh Patch is useful and convenient in potty training our Miniature-Schnauzer puppy! We use it inside our home, in his fenced area, and placed on top of washable puppy pads. This product was recommended by the puppy's breeder, and we have been using it daily in our home for just over two weeks ago. With the arrival of our eight week old puppy, you can imagine the use this Fresh Patch Standard Size (15lbs or less) has had! Due to already having an older mature Miniature-Schnauzer in the home, our puppy has to be kept separated since we are awaiting the necessary vaccination period to be fully protected. This means no outside walks or bathroom breaks on our back lawn. As you know, per breeder's advice, the puppy is not allowed outside on the ground, nor mingling with his older sibling Miniature-Schnauzer. So...Fresh Patch it is! This product is highly convenient! The puppy is already familiar with using it, as the breeder had started potty training him with it weeks before his arrival! In the meantime, this product works has worked well and is durable! It arrived to our residence within four days. Fresh Patch is a compact patch of grass, in a waterproof box. This Fresh Patch with frequent daily use has lasted two weeks and three days. I wished I would have ordered another Fresh Patch sooner, as two weeks is pushing it with a young puppy and time has flown by! I can see how this might last a small mature dog longer since they are not peeing and pooing as frequently as a puppy! Be sure to pick up the solid waste quickly and gently from the grass to keep it in the best condition. Even with the many clean ups this Fresh Patch has had, it does not need to be watered. You can lightly mist it if need be. Remember dogs don't like walking on soaking wet grass to pee or poo! One thing in particular, keep an eye on your puppy as they will surely show interest in the patch, and begin to chew on the grass or pull on it. Even then, very durable. Be patient! With positive reinforcement, we encourage the puppy to stay off of it and distract him from it with toys or play time. If he is really persistent, then we remove it from his area for short periods of time. Puppies chew, so yes they will show interest in the box, but not for long if they are told no and given positive reinforcement! With that said, the box does holds up well. In case poo or pee comes in contact with the box, and it surely will. Glove up, grab a few paper towels, and wipe the sides down with puppy-safe cleaner or safe homemade cleaner periodically to freshen it up and keep it sanitary. I haven't had to do it too often, meaning lots throughout the day, as the puppy uses the Fresh Patch well. When the time comes, dispose of the Fresh Patch box in the trash.
