What is a surprise - no soap!
I decided to try this but was skeptical. Pop the egg with beads into the wash - no laundry soap, no softener, no stain boosters...just the egg. Cycle over, you pull out fresh, clean laundry. Totally surprising and totally amazing. The box comes with the egg, packages of beads, and more to refill over many months. We do 1-3 loads of laundry per week and I've had this for 4 months and just added a second package of beads. Will see how long before I need to purchase refills, but will not be going back to regular laundry products!

Works like magic!
I LOVE my eco eggs. As a full time RVer, I need to have products that don’t take up very much space. And this small egg meets that requirement. But does it work? Absolutely! My clothes are clean and fresh smelling. I sometimes add a scoop of Borax or Oxyclean if I need to boost the cleaning power, but the egg works great all by itself, and it doesn’t leave any nasty residue in the washer like so many other laundry products.

Very effective
I was skeptical before I first tried this but it really does work effectively and saves a lot of plastic being used on the planet and also saves you having to lug big containers of heavy liquid detergents. For super grimy stuff (like after working on your car engine or after camping), I use the egg but add a little bit of detergent or just baking soda and vinegar and it's always worked great.

It's Unscented....
Seems to work pretty good. I use it, along with baking soda to wash pet bedding for a dog with what seems to be every allergy known to man. I appreciate that her stuff comes out clean and with no scent. It asked for a 'scent' rating, but since I bought the unscented, I left that clear. I CAN say that there is no scent with the 'unscented' and I DO like that. I've tested this one against a different brand of the same type of washing system (Bought from Amazon) and can say that they both perform pretty much the same, with the other option costing about 10 dollars less for the same amount of washes.

Love the Egg
Been using these eggs for years and love them. If I want to brighten my whites, I very infrequently will wash in detergent and add a whitening booster. But for daily use, I use the Egg!!

can be great! but might not be good for laundromat use or shared machines
I have a front loading washer that tends to get "stale" and so I really had to clean it well and get the smell out of it before I could tell if the laundry egg was working. Part of the problem with regular detergent is that it builds up and makes washers not clean as well. I have tested this with notably dirty items with dirt or food on them and they do come out clean. My kids' basketball shorts and other items of that strange synthetic fabric seemed to get the mildew smell from the washer more often than other items and now they come out without that smell. I don't think it would work as well if I were using it in a washer that had detergent residue, however, so it might not be good for laundromat use or shared machines.

Pellets wear down too fast
It does a great job but the pellets are wearing down very quickly

I wouldn't buy again
I am not thrilled about giving a bad rating to an eco-friendly product but I have no choice. I mean I'm all about the environment. I make my own grocery bags out of old shorts, reuse plastic produce bags, will take several minutes braking down packaging and putting the pieces in their appropriate recycle bins, etc. I had high hopes for this product but I have been disappointed. I've been using the Egg for several months but wasn't really sure it was doing anything. I don't get my clothes soiled and I'm not a stinky fellow. So it was hard to tell. The other day though it became clear that the Egg isn't doing the job. I had dropped a couple drops of olive oil on a microfiber t-shirt. After washing with the Egg the oil stain was still there. This should not have been a problem. Olive oil on microfiber should be the easiest thing to clean. Olive oil breaks down easily and while microfiber wicks moisture the fibers don't stain like a cotton would. So, I splashed a little diluted dish soap on the stain (I dilute the dish soap also for eco reasons), briefly rubbed it and stain all gone. Easy peasy. So I contacted the Egg people and asked what's up. They responded right away and said that I needed to make sure that there was plenty of the cleaning pellets in the Egg (there were more than enough), and that I may need to pre-treat stains. So, a product purporting to eliminate chemicals from the environment may need to use chemicals to actually do the job. What!? We are not talking about a tough stain like wine, or blood, or grass. It was olive oil on microfiber. Should have been the easiest thing thing ever to clean. So if it can't get olive oil out of microfiber I no longer have any confidence in it being able to actually clean any better than plain water. Ecoegg people, if you read this, don't contact me with this or that to appease me to remove this review. Your product doesn't work, and I really wish it did.

This is a great product. We have been using it for a month now and it cleans our clothes fine and leaves them smelling cleaned. We pick unfragranced so cannot comment on fragrance but I do know its cleaning well. You should not use it above 60c temperature water and you should not overload the washing machine or use it to clean heavily stained/dirty garments. I also don't leave the egg in the machine between washes, I put it to dry out in the egg holder (bought separately); I would imagine leaving it in the machine might not be good for it. For us, we clean at 40c generally or lower and we know to put a prewash or added cleaner in for heavily soiled items. Great value and saves us £££s plus environment and feel happier knowing its not full of awful chemicals. A win all round!

Toll:-)

Somewhat puzzled by reading some of the negative reviews on this product, I purchased this at the end of April and have never looked back. No more washing capsules in our house, and I’m saving a fortune. So delighted with it that my son has now got one, and now my daughter too, who has three young children. She is finding it a godsend, being on a tight budget. I have only ever had one wash I was less than happy with, and all entirely my own fault, as there was too much in the machine on that occasion. As per the instructions, it is really, really, really important not to overload the machine, as the egg must have adequate room to move about, but other than that, no issues whatsoever. It says the pellets will cover 210 washes, they come divided into three bags, we’ll I’m still on bag one and have done more than 80 washes. And we live in a very hard water area. I wash mostly at 30 degrees, on an everyday wash, unless I know there is a particular stain to be removed, then at 40 degrees, and that has proved more than capable of getting things clean. I note some people have commented that it does not remove odours, well, again, I can only speak from personal experience, but I am very particular about my washing, my husband and I both use the gym regularly, and all my washing in the last few weeks has passed my very keen nose with flying colours. Something that did not always happen when washing at 30 degrees with ordinary detergent capsules….. In addition, I frequently used to complain that my washing machine had an unpleasant odour, and was forever putting it onto an empty hot wash to try and keep it smelling sweet, since the introduction of the egg into our household, this has ceased to be an issue. All in all, my experience of the product has been an entirely positive one.
