I purchased this small, thin recorder simply to practice my speaking skills. I've been using it sort of like an audio journal. I take it with me in the mornings, on my way to work and record my thoughts. I do the same on my way home and when I get to about five recordings, I delete them.I record my dreams and insights, then use them as reference when I'm writing. Well, the other day ---and this is what inspired me to write a review --- I had arrived home and placed the recorder in my pant pocket, as I normally do. I took off my pants and took a shower, again, as usual. I came out and realized that I had to wash clothes.When I transferred my clothes from the washing machine into Thedrier, I kept hearing a thump! My recorder! It's done! I thought! Oh well, at least it was inexpensive.Lo and behold, IT SURVIVED! I instantly remember how one reviewer had described it as a TANK! Because it is so well made! It feels heavy, solid. I've dropped it several times, but it has always kept working!I could NOT believe it! I had to have gotten completely soaked while in the washing machine! The water had to have entered through the speaker and mic holes!However, it turned right on and the five recordings that I hadn't yet deleted were still there! Perfectly audible! No distortion! And I could still record! All its functions PERFECTLY intact!It PROVED to be a TANK!I HIGHLY recommend this little tank!

A few serious problems.1) Holding down the fast forward moves in tiny increments, like 5-10 seconds per second. I tested and it took 7 seconds to fast forward 1 minute. At that rate, fast forwarding an hour would take ~11 minutes. That's ridiculous, it's totally unreasonable. I'll have to transfer the files just to be able to navigate.2) It really should be able to record while plugged in. It's already wasted some of my time waiting for it when i could've been recording3) the forward/next button and rewind/previous button are backwards from how it should be. If i hold it upright, the buttons go, from top to bottom: volume up, volume down, rewind, foward. That makes no sense. Why would down be forward? But especially, why would volume up be above down, but rewind be above forward? Hard to remember because it obviously should be reversed. (Edit: this isn't unique to this product--it's common.)Other than that, it's pretty good. Good record quality and all that. I'll continue using it... with a little frustration.Tl:dr rewind/forward too slow, doesn't record while plugged in, and the buttons are switched

I was hesitant when I read the other reviews here, but I figured I didn't want to spend too much on something I was probably only going to need half a semester. Now that I've used it over the course of the semester I must say I have no idea where the other reviews about bad battery life/ sound quality are coming from. I have to record an hour-and-a-half lecture every other day. Using the default settings (mid-sound quality and noise cancellation) it maybe goes down like 5% over that time. This thing could go all day if I let it and it picks up my professor as she moves around the room just fine. I always download everything from the recorder to my computer so maybe the battery and sound issues are for those who listen through the speaker? Not sure, all I know is this thing was a lifesaver and works great.

I bought the COCONISE 64GB digital recorder about six months ago, to record brainstorming sessions instead of using my phone. It worked well for a few weeks, then started depleting the battery very quickly (maybe 30 minutes) on a "full charge". A couple of weeks ago, it wouldn't turn on at all. I've left it on the charger overnight, tried different cables and charging blocks, and it just will not turn back on it take a charge.It is stylish, modern, and useful - until it stops working. Well past the return date, now it is only a small paperweight.

The sound quality is great; easy to use...battery life is horrible. I don't see how I could use this for a lecture. I used for an hour and the battery drained to almost nothing. I would send it back, but it not worth my time and it was 20.00. I also needed an input for a microphone, that was on me for not reading the description. I'm able to use it for short lectures and trainings that are an hour or less, but beware if you need it for something that's over an hour. Maybe it's user error on my part, but the battery life is short.Edited...after some thought I will be returning the device. It has lots of memory but what good is it if the battery life is only 30 or so. Sorry, I wanted to keep it but will be returning.

When it first arrived, I was very surprised at how small it was, which is a good thing. It is very user friendly and it has great features.

Was very surprised by the quality of this item. For the price I paid (on sale. 1/2 off) I expected lightweight plastic. What I got was a little tank of a recording device.The instructions that came with it were not very clear which is why I deducted a star. However, I was able to figure out how to use it within a matter of minutes just by playing with it. I am not "smart device" inclined either. I get easily frustrated by "smart" electronic device.I have charged it twice since I received it and don't really think it needed the second charge. The battery life is phenomenal.The audio playback is good for voice playback as long as you don't speak to close to the speaker. I have not used it for any sort of music because that is not what I bought it for.Overall I would recommend it.
