Incredible Board for an Incredible System
This was written for a MSI Rewards Program Redemption This is only my second PC build ever, my first one was back in 2017 and I built a 6th Gen Intel system with a 1050ti. Back then I used a Gigabyte board and had a lot of issues with the BIOS and Gigabyte's utility programs, so much, in fact, I let the system stay at the default orange for much of the last two years just because I didn't want to go through the hassle. I digress, I decided to go with MSI this time around and highly recommend this board for a DDR4 12th Gen build. It has a small bit of RGB by the chip heatsinks and then the dragon logo, but nothing that will illuminate your entire house, which is what I was looking for, but the quality and BIOS are leagues above my 6th Gen Aorus. It's the highest end of the DDR4 boards, but very worth it over a lot of the other ASUS and Gigabyte options for the DDR4s. Pros - Great Quality Heatsinks Beautiful RGB Dragon Easily Labeled headers 4 M.2 slots and 6 Sata Ports Seems very DIY friendly Great I/O panel selection Perfect amount of on-board RGB for me Awesome Accessories - USB Support Drive and Screwdrivers came in very handy! Cons If you were looking for a super RGB board, this isn't it Mystic Light isn't the greatest, but the rest of the utilities are great Still trying to figure out how to overclock but that might just be my under-experience not the BIOS/Utilities I/O doesn't *Quite* line up with my case, but that could be an issue with Phanteks' case, it wasn't anything egregious, maybe a few millimeters Lastly, the PCIe ports are a little close together. My 2070S and USB expansion card are mere millimeters apart. It doesn't seem to effect anything during heavy loads but if the mini PCIe slot could be at the bottom instead, it would've been MUCH easier to install those two cards, I can't imagine what I'd do if I was SLI bridging two 2070Supers. Overall, I'd give this thing a 9.8/10. It's an incredible board with incredible quality, for an incredible new system. Great motherboard, tips for updating the BIOS to work with Intel 13th gen (13700k etc)
This is a great motherboard. It feels very sturdy, the PCIE slot for the GPU is extremely stable, and the motherboard runs nicely. Instructions below for how I updated BIOS easily for 13th gen Intel. My only complaint with this motherboard is that the front panel connectors, which are already hard enough to plug in, are extremely hard to find on the motherboard due to TINY out of place writing and also it didn't come with anything to make it easier to plug them in. That was a pain. Otherwise this motherboard has performed very well and the BIOS interface and MSI support page/website are great. If you're trying it with a 13th gen Intel CPU it won't work until you update the BIOS. The best way to do this to avoid errors is to do the BIOS update IMMEDIATELY, before installing CPU or anything, really. First, using another PC, format a USB 2.0 32 GB or smaller as FAT32 with a default allocation size. Download the correct, recent BIOS from MSI's site (currently it's 7D31v19). Extract the main BIOS file directly into the USB with NO FOLDERS (don't leave it in its folder) or any other files and rename it to MSI.ROM Now once you get the motherboard out of the box, connect it to the 16-pin power to your unplugged/powered off PSU, and also to the CPU power to the PSU (use the plug on the left, CPU 1 / ATX power 1). DO NOT CONNECT ANYTHING ELSE, NO RAM OR CPU OR ANYTHING, JUST THOSE 2 plugs TO THE PSU. Then plug the PSU into the wall, and power it on (do NOT power PC on with PC power button, just flip switch for PSU power). Hook your USB up to the Flash Bios USB slot in the Motherboard. Push the Flash BIOS button once. It will flash red for a few seconds, then main motherboard lights will come on, including the fancy dragon. The red light by BIOS button will keep flashing for about 3-8 minutes and then you will see the motherboard power off then on again and the Flash Bios button red light will stop blinking and go dark. Wait another 1-2 minutes and then you can unplug everything and assemble the Mobo into your PC. If the light doesn't blink red initially but instead just stays solid read after a few seconds when you first try this, you need to fix your USB formatting / BIOS file or use a different one. For me this happened when my BIOS file was in a folder instead of directly in the USB with no folders.

Fantastic Board
Install was fantastically easy to install and the M.2 clips worked great. Made for a quick build that included all the features I wanted such as integrated graphics, WIFI, and the ability to support 13th Gen CPU's. Bios was a breeze to flash on before installing all my hardware on the board and then into the case. Everything slotted in easy on the board and went into the case easy as can be. The BIOS itself offers a very nice EZ MODE for those with little knowledge and an advanced mode for making all kinds of nice little tweaks. One thing that felt like an oversight to me was that the fresh board when booted for the first time had my CPU running unregulated which caused it to thermal throttle rather rapidly once I started using the PC. Easy enough fix in the bios though especially with the search feature saving a few seconds from scrolling! Would definitely recommend this board to others and while it is my first MSI board it definitely wont be my last with how good this one was. Ya tengo varios meses con esta Motherboard trabajando con un i5 12600KF y todo muy bien, si van por un procesador de la 12a o 13a gen. consideren un buen enfriador líquido, de 360mm preferentemente
