Surface Shields CS2450W Temporary Carpet Protection Film, 24 Inch x 50 feet, Clear

For Christmas this year my 5 year old daughter received a very nice easel and paint set, which she uses in her carpeted bedroom... I think you can see where I am going with this... This plastic has saved her carpet from turning into the colors of the rainbow, while still allowing her to be the little artist she wishes to be! The plastic has been on the carpet (a gray Berber type) for a little over two weeks now with absolutely no issues; it isn't peeling up or cracking, and to be honest doesn't even look that bad. I have peeled up a little to test for any sticky residue, and so far there hasn't been any. The packaging states for use for 30 days or less, so we will be changing it out before the end of the month, but because it really wasn't any hassle to put on, I don't mind having to change it out if it is going to keep her carpet looking nice. I would suggest having at least two people, or a large weight, available for installing it. I just had my daughter stand on the end while I rolled it out. A single person could probably install it by themselves, but it might be a bit tricky. Also, have a nice sharp set of scissors (or a razor blade if you're handy with them) available to cut with or you may cut a bit wonky. I am satisfied with this product, the price is fantastic and it appears to be working out well, if I have any issues I will come back and report them in the future. Otherwise I will certainly be buying more when we run out of this batch!

I used to use another brand of carpet tape and this is nothing like it. It sticks to itself and separates at the level it should stick to brand new carpet. Gravity is enough to make it peel or a sneeze. Also many wrinkles in my reel.

We used this in a room we were remodeling (the walls were torn out to replace with drywall). It was a messy situation that was easy to clean up with this on the carpet. It prevent dust and dirt from getting on the carpet and made for an easy clean up. Plus it's sticky, but don't cause any issues with the carpet. In addition, it's thicker than I was expecting. Would definitely use again in the future.

I bought this to protect my floors when we had contractors in the house. These worked great, stayed put and protected well.

This is just sticky enough to barely adhere to carpet... and it wont adhere to dirty/greasy carpet at all... though I doubt anything would... this works well when trying to cover up an area where pets have been urinating... thoroughly clean the area... let it dry...Completely... and apply to the affected area... use excess amount to protect as much as possible, and prevent future incidents... all the while train you pet to use the proper facilities... after one week of solitary confinement and constant babysitting... i was able to get my 17 year old cat back to the way it should be... just keep a constant vigilance and if the squatting happens... be firm... and don't yell... tell them no... and then move them to the proper area... or do what i did and keep them locked up like a kitten... and make them go in a certain area...

I never used it for new carpet, I probably wouldn't use this sort of thing if I did, because it doesn't matter the brand...it has an adhesive element to it that could damage it if you are a detailed-oriented person. I love this because I have a 12-year-old carpet that I have maintained clean by carpet cleaning and having all the family take off their shoes. Guest do it, too. However, there is a particular high-traffic area that I would clean more often so when I don't have guests over, I lay it over it. It's a tacky thing to do, but I've got messy kids that always have accidents. My MIL first used it under her dining room table for special occasions because she was tired of cleaning after my kids had accidents. Highly recommend it because of the size, too. It's easier to manage a 24*50 than it is a 24*200...it's easier to store, carry, and manage when putting it on. Now I'm highly thinking about using it for the floor of my van and for the seats to my Honda Pilot. Heck...accidents happen in vehicles....this is my solution because I can't keep up with all the cleaning little people entail.

I have purchased similar products that work well. But this plastic is very thin and will not adhere to the carpet.
