Vida Alegría REACH Solid Brass 18-Inch Shower Head Extension Arm (Chrome)

This is a great product!! I got it as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend last year, because he is insanely tall, and his shower head comes out of the wall and hits him square between the pecs. I got it during their cyber Monday sale, so I got it for a steal! It is very high quality, all metal. What else... 1) It was really easy to install. I have never installed a shower head before, so I was nervous before sneaking into BF's house to install it with the help of his roommate. Turns out, I didn't need any help at all! (well, maybe someone to help hold things.) The instructions are very clear, and it even comes with plumber's tape. The only thing I will say is, make sure you coat all pipes in a damp rag before clamping the wrench to hold in place--my helper didn't use the towel, and the wrench made one scratch through the finish--so now we have a tiny, brass-colored dent on the base. 2) It works really well for directing water upwards. I was worried because it appears to have been designed more for "rain" shower heads, where it branches horizontally out from the wall. We use it in the straight up position most often, and it doesn't affect the water pressure at all. 3) The adjustable knob on the side works great, even when the water is on. You have to be careful not to move the knob very far, or it will unscrew and fall, but even when that happens, the water doesn't spray everywhere, and the arm stays in place. You just have to screw the knob back in. We have been using this shower for 9 months, and he adjusts it all the way up for himself, and then also all the way down, when he washes his dog. I like it somewhere in the middle. So we have been adjusting and re-adjusting and it hasn't gotten any looser so far. All in all, I am very satisfied with this product so far. I paid way too little for a high quality product, and I am one happy customer!

OK, this is one serious piece of hardware! As soon as I lifted the package out of the Amazon shipping box I could tell it was high quality just by the weight. Taking it out of the box, it's just a beautiful piece of solid chrome-plated brass that reeks of quality. I was replacing a similar unit but that one was chrome-plated plastic. This one is the real deal. Since we have a large walk-in shower, and the water outlet comes out of a side-wall, this arm perfectly places the new Rainforest rain shower head at the center of the space. I purchased this arm to attach the new Vida Alegria Rainforest 14 x 8 inch shower head, and it's a perfect complement to it. I'll have more to say about that head in a separate review. So, after admiring the flawless finish and heft of the arm for awhile, I went to install it. Having purchased a couple of Vida Alegria products before, I expected the instructions to be easy-to-follow and complete, and I was not disappointed. Included in the package are two small rolls of Teflon tape, which are probably way more than you'll need ( I used less than one) for the two connections involved. Including the tape is a nice touch that this manufacturer does, and can save you a trip to the hardware store. The fittings were machined perfectly so the arm screwed onto the outlet easily. Hand tightening, then "snugging" it into the correct alignment with a wrench (make sure you cover the fitting with a towel first to avoid scratching) got it tight with no leaks. To adjust the curved arm higher or lower, I just loosened the thumbscrew a little and raised the arm to the position desired and then tightened it. The faces have detents in them so when tightened they lock into place and don't slip. All in all this is a really beautiful, high quality, heavy-duty shower arm that should give many years of service. I notice on the package that the company backs it's products with a 3-year satisfaction guarantee as well. You can find cheaper shower arms, but if you're looking for a new shower arm that is really high quality, I think it would be difficult to find a better one than this.

I used this product for about 2 months and share my experience with you. This shower head extension arm is made with high quality. The installation was easy. The entire piece was made from chrome plated brass which feels heavy and it gives you a feel that it will last for a long time. You do need to take everything apart to start installation but this is easy. You install the connection part first and then screw on the extension arm and then the shower head. The connection mechanism has teeth to lock in place once you decided the height of the shower head you would like it to be. The teeth will ensure it stays in place and not become loose after using it for a while. You can use the thumbscrew to adjust the height and then tighten it and it will lock into place without slipping. Many shower head arms become loose after a while because it lacks of the teeth to lock into place and it is an annoying problem. The last thing you want is the shower head keeps dropping down while taking a shower. The product also includes 2 small rolls of Teflon tape which is a nice touch. One challenge during the installation you may face is to adjust the connection part to its proper place so that the extension arm can be attached at its correct angle. Since you have to tighten it so it does not leak and it may not sit at correct angle when it's tightened. One easy way I found is to try and error with the layers of the Teflon tape. You may need to get additional Teflon tape if you have to try several times until you get to the tight position and correct angle. I am happy with this purchase and hope this review will help you to decide.

A bit expensive, but sturdy and worked really well with my rain shower attachment. Overall good product.
