Stealthy and powerful
Daiwa never disappoints with quality. This reel isn't as high end as their usual but it still is one of the smoothest reels you can get for the price. Beginner friendly and worth it. Barely makes any noise too. Came greased and ready to use out the box.

Real Nice Reel
I have a couple of Penn Squall conventional reels and I wanted to add a spinner to round out my surf rods... Since I haven't yet finished building the spinning rod to match with this reel, I can only give my review on the reel without having taken it to the water... My first impression was what a beast of a reel; and this is just the 5000 model... It's probably more than I need, but I think it's better to go a little bigger, just in case you get Godzilla on your hook instead of a perch... The reel looks beautiful and feels solid and smooth... I think this is absolutely the best bang for the buck for a surf capable spinning reel... I don't believe anyone would be disappointed in buying one... Of course, there's always someone that has something negative to say, but I think most anglers would be hard pressed, not to like this reel... Buy it, you'll like it... I may update this review, once I get the rod finished and throw a few cast with it... But I expect it to perform well and bag a lot of fishies...

Work of art
Daiwa bg 4000, I was looking for a inshore reel that could double duty as my cat rod for flatheads and blue cats. This reel fits everything I look for in a good spinning reel, it’s one of the smoothest spinning reels I’ve ever felt there is literally no resistance. Partly do to the reel is not sealed but I’m ok with that I don’t plan on going swimming in the ocean with this. Let’s be realistic I would not do that with any reel under $600 sealed or not. I opened this reel up to see this “digi gear” aka big a$$ gear. Everyone is raving about and yeah it’s ginormous for the size reel. I also found ample amounts of grease saw no need to have to add extra they even coat the inside of the body housing with grease for a extra touch of corrosion resistance. I like little touches like that and it show Daiwas attention to detail. The reel spooled 30 braided line on perfectly right out the box but dose include 3 shims if needed. The drag is smooth as silk and is sealed probably one of the best drags I’ve felt. Casting is beautiful, no wind knots at all and I have this thing filled right up to the lip of the spool. Reeling in fish and or the weight of your rig this thing feels like a winch it’s so effortless do to the giant gear. It almost feels like cheating. Cons (I have to find something) The 4000 and smaller models have a reverse switch that I wish they would do away with I’ve never used them and don’t care for a auto trip bale. I also wish they would do away with the chrome wire bale wire, The entire reel is black and gold and don’t get me wrong it’s a beautiful but it would have looked killer with a thick black aluminum bale. That being said I don’t think them cons are enough to take a star away and this reel is Probably the best reel available right now in this price range and rivals reels that cost 2x the price even there own saltist. *Update: The only thing I found better then the BG 4000 is two BG 4000’s That’s right I now have Twins!! And I think I might as well get the BG 3000 next.

Great Reels if purchased below $100. Slower gear ratio. Spooling Line is a challenge
Purchased 3000 and 3500 size . Excellent reels for price. Great value and performance. Sizing is larger with line capacity when compared to Shimano Stradic or Symetre. Slower gear ratios. Better feel than Penn Battle 2( I have 3 of these ) Only drawback is the way the line ( 832 Suffix or Daiwa J Braid) spools initially but this evens out if you use the included washers . Otherwise you get a bottom heavy spooling. These were spooked unfortunately at local tackle shop on machine .13 cents a yard so take advantage of free backing if offered. I put 50 yards of Trilene XT green on it enables me to get 125 yards on 3000 Model. 150 yards on 3500 Model

Mulinello che non ha bisogno di presentazioni, arrivato nei tempi dichiarati, ben imballato e ad un prezzo incredibile: media di mercato 120, pagato 85!

The BG is simple excellent, even though it doesn't have many of the fancy high end features like airbail or magseal, the simplicity brought the price down so much, the value you get from the BG is just incredible. Yet still, the standard features offered by DAIWA is still surpassing most brands on the market. BG is a direct competitor to 200+ gbp product with only half of the price tag. It's salt water ready with high power sealed drag and full aluminum body. Digigear rotor system offers excellent line twist management which is only matched by shimano's dyno system. And screw on handle on a reel sales for 100 pounds, this is unheard in the past for big brands. Through the decades of my fishing experience, I had more than 2 dozens of reels, from cheap sub 50 to mid high end 250 pounds priced ones. I'm not a pro fishing man, my buying intention is always to get the best value out of every pound I spend. I've seen how products changed over the last two decades and knows very well what matters and makes the difference. I always tell my friends to buy shimano because they put on their best spool system on every reel they make even it's the cheapest alivio range. In the recent year though, I'm favoring DAIWA over shimano because: 1. DAIWA is now putting their same high end spooling system on cheap reels as well.I have a ninjia as well spools just the same as the BG and just the same as the saltiga. 2. Daiwa reels are so smooth, while you argue if shimano does the same what makes choose daiwa over shimano, I can tell you it's the smoothness, even at 150-200 pounds range, shimano just doesn't do smoothness as well as daiwa. Arguably shimano may feel more balanced and probably have more high tech offered. e.g. Aero FA4000 and Stradic fk is an excellent reel in comparison with similar price range, similar feature offered and in similar weight cat. 3. Salt water or fresh water, I often find shimano's reel with the BG's price range often isn't salt water ready, this goes true for the Aero FA4000. 4. Price, yes again price. I would be happily to buy a shimano stradic over the Daiwa BG if they are in the same price range, Right now Stradic FK costs 30% more than the BG, for that price I chose the Lexa with oil seal, upped one size to Lexa 4000 and paid exactly the same price of a Stradic FK. (Stradic FK is still an excellent reel, it offers other features that you may care more than I do.) I know my arguments may down to my personal preference a lot, but I hope writing down my opinion on them gives readers a good variety of viewing angles.
