Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer

A great read for kids or adults. I especially recommend it for teens. A painless way to learn some law and read a good story at the same time. I didn't like that Grisham didn't finish the story. He assumed we knew how it would end but I still wanted to read it - without telling the story.

I am a tutor, and my younger guys love this series from John Grisham. This book is, and as are all the following, great vocabulary builders, have great insight into lawyering, and are riveting novels. Okay, I am a devoted John Grisham fan and it is hard to keep this review under control. However, this "new" series is a quintessential for anyone who loves a good read, and wants to know how lawyers really function. Reading about Theodore Boone is an easy inside look at the intelligent minds that are out there in the lawyer world, not to mention their quirky antics. Then Grisham wraps the whole thing up in a solid story with interesting thoughts about kiddos and how the clever little stinkers function in an adult world. A GREAT READ. Over and Out! And no, JG did not pay me one dime to write this, in fact he hasn't a clue who I am. I'm merely a retired administrative assistant to a couple of high powered Dallas corporate attorneys. Who, by the way, paid me a very handsome salary to do their grunt work. Go buy yourself a copy for your Kindle, and add the audio to the ticket. It's sooo nice to be lazy and let someone else do the reading...

Good Book specially for teens. Wonderful atmosphere. Very clearly detailed. Although Have to say one have take care the area and time this book is written.

E lo fa attraverso la figura di uno di loro, Theodore Boone, un ragazzino americano di 13 anni, figlio di due noti avvocati civilisti e come tale, appassionato del diritto.Theo da grande vuole diventare un grande avvocato penalista e, nel frattempo, si diletta a fornire consigli legali ai suoi coetanei ed a frequentare le aule dei tribunali.In questo primo episodio la comunità di Strattenburg è sconvolta da un grave fatto di sangue: il ricco Peter Duffy è accusato dell’omicidio della moglie, strangolata nella propria lussuosa villa vicina al campo da golf della cittadina. La polizia e la città tutta sospetta che il signor Duffy sia colpevole, ma l’accusa fatica a mettere insieme le prove giuste per inchiodarlo.La città si ferma per il processo che si preannuncia molto avvincente. Anche Theo, ovviamente, è elettrizzato e, per quanto possibile, non si perde un'udienza.Il processo del secolo sembra volgere ad una favorevole conclusione per l’accusato, quando Theo viene contattato da un testimone, che ha visto l'uxoricida sul luogo del delitto all'ora del delitto. Ma il giovane, cugino di un amichetto di Theo, rifiuta di testimoniare perchè è immigrato clandestino. Ce la farà Theo a convincere il ragazzo a rendere la sua importante testimonianza, che manderebbe sicuramente in prigione l'omicida?Questo libro si legge tutto d'un fiato e ci fa conoscere via via gli eroi di questa "saga": April Finnemore, la strana amichetta di Theo; Ike Boone, zio di Theo, un tempo noto avvocato, poi radiato per via di gravi eventi che Theo ignora; il giudice Granty, che presiede il processo Duffy, e il cui stile è fonte di ispirazione per Theo.Nella sua versione inglese, addirittura, non occorre nemmeno una conoscenza avanzata della lingua, proprio perchè il libro - essendo indirizzato ai ragazzi - è scritto in uno stile molto semplice e comprensibile.Sicuramente un ottimo libro, per quella che è un'ottima saga.
