You can get 3 levels of loudness by varying the speed you depress the keys. If you combine that with changing the volume while playing you can simulate the 5 dynamic levels. Try 7 for pianissimo, piano, mezzo piano 8 for piano, mezzo piano,forte 9 for mezzo piano, forte, fortissimo. Although clumsy it does let you work on dynamics without spending several hundred dollars more for a. unit with a working damping pedal.

This does have a usb port to connect to your computer to record music to the computer. We bought this for my son who wanted to make music for video games he was making and it works perfect for him. Hope that helps.
