Awesome
This is an awesome toy! The white one is really cool looking – it has awesome cool-blue LED lights, fender bumpers, LED battery power indicator and you can use it indoors or outside. I actually bought this in white and blue for both of my kids – they’ve wanted one for a while. I didn’t get them one when these first came out mainly because of the issues of them catching on fire and exploding – so like with most technology I didn’t jump on the bandwagon initially and waited until some of the kinks were worked out. One reason I bought these particular hoverboards was because of the manufacturer. I’ve had several Razor products including electric scooters and I’ve never had an issue, so I trusted the name brand. Another reason is that it’s UL 2272 certified which means that it meets the industry’s highest electrical standards which put my mind at ease about this thing not catching on fire. The Razor Hovertrax 2.0 Hoverboard Self-Balancing Smart Scooter is well built and so much fun. I bought these as Christmas gifts, so I had to test this out myself – and it is not as easy as it looks! I honestly almost took out one of my cats on this thing! Riding this takes some coordination and skill – but I eventually was able to successfully ride this after a little practice. There are actually some YouTube videos on tips on how to get up and going on one of these pretty quickly. It also helps that there is a training mode and normal use mode – I definitely needed the training mode. The smart balancing technology helps as well and it automatically levels for an easier mount. I like that the Hovertrax 2.0 is pretty quiet and the speed is pretty good too. You may not think that 8 to 10 MPH is fast, but when you are cruising on this thing it feels like you’re on the motor speedway. Charging this is pretty easy and you can ride for about an hour in between charges. I also like that you can get an extra battery and change out for extra riding time. Overall I am happy with my purchase – the price is decent. I’m sure that local stores may have these available for a little less on Black Friday, but I’d rather get one now and ensure I have them versus fighting someone in Walmart or taking a chance not being able to secure one online. That happened to me last year with a TV – I bought it on Black Friday online and got a receipt and pickup time – but two days later my card was refunded because they ran out! I can’t wait until Christmas so I can see the look on my kids face when they open this present and finally get the hoverboard they wanted.

Solid buy
I was reluctant to spend this amount of money on a relatively unknown commodity, but my 11 and 6 year olds wanted one more than anything for Christmas, so we obliged. Now that we've opened them and have had a chance to see what they're all about, we are extremely pleased with the product. Safety and durability were our main concerns, the safety part we are happy with, I'd say they are much less dangerous than a bicycle, but the fact that you can use these indoors increases the risk of accidents, but I do not feel that is due to the hoverboard, at least not this version from Razor. The hoverboard self balances as advertised, when the machine is turned on, it stands straight on its own. Does not mean you can just stand there with it like you're on a step stool, but does add a level of stability that bicycles or standard scooters do not have. There is a training and regular mode, the kids stood on them in training mode while holding onto the kitchen counter to get a feel for it and then within a few minutes they were standing on them without much support. Both the 11 and 6 year olds were able to ride them as advertised within 10 minutes with a little practice. They were already multi-tasking on the units by the end of the night, it's basically like they float around the house now, they have complete control on them. I'm surprised how easily our 6 year old girl was able to pick it up. It is too heavy for her to carry up and down the stairs though, the 11 year old boy is able to transport the unit without issue. Christmas was an absolute success and the kids ride the hoverboards for hours everyday. Easy maintenance, ready to ride out of the box, and apparently relatively low learning cover. Note: Their 40 year old mother tried to stand on it and fell on her butt within 30 seconds:) Not made for adults, great for kids though!! I'll update the review later in the year to confirm durability, we should know how much stress these can take once spring rolls around.

Easy to learn, safe, fast or slow when you need it.
My daughter loves to ride this hoverboard. Before, she only went outside to play about 15 min like,5 times a week if there were no friends around. But now she does it 1 hour DAILY!!! Its safe to ride after 5 min with help.its kinda bumpy outside where there is sticks and rocks.but its as fun as riding a bike.
