Dorman 76106 Tailgate Handle Bezel Compatible with Select Chevrolet / GMC Models, Textured Black

This is my second third-party replacement on a now 20 year old truck. Each time it was due to repairing a broken clip for the tailgate handle release rod. Symptom is you can no longer unlatch the tailgate, but fyi it’s not the fault of the bezel. My truck is onyx black which is a gloss. All of these brands are paintable and come as a textured matte black. I don’t bother painting them. They match close enough. They break easily at the black internal clip (after years of exposure to weather), as you pry this to remove it so you can access the handle release mechanism to replace the green or red rod release clip. The bezel is a one piecer and comes with foam tape already applied to the inside of the bezel. The tape is aligned perfectly like the picture in this ad. I don’t trust a picture if it has things misaligned, I take it as a warning that when you get one misaligned from whatever brand, it was just like the picture, and in essence they told you so. So I’ll pay the extra few bucks and demand mine be like the one in the ad if it’s not. After all, my money wasn’t misaligned. This item is so well made. Not a single burr, sharp edge, or anything unfinished, scratched or cracked. The tape was perfectly placed. None of the adhesive peel-off backing was pre-peeled. Having been through this repair and not having the OEM bezel anymore, I just break off the old third-party bezel by prying the clip to the point of failure. It’s a challenge to pry the clip (there are two on top and two on bottom) and the tape keeps the bezel stuck / locked in 3D orientation. So why not break it off and start fresh for another $10? I use rubbing alcohol and a plastic scraper to remove the adhesive residue from the tailgate. Wipe with soapy water paper towel, rinse with clean water paper towel, dry. Do the clip fix, then install the new bezel. I’d buy this product again and again.

This was an aftermarket item. It looks great and fits. But I did put a little silicone on it because it was a little loose,, and silicone keeps it nice and firm

first one i received was broken, i was immediately upon notice sent a replacement! fits good, easy install in under 1 minute but does seem warped a little as it doesn't sit flush all the way around but functions. i was super happy that i was issued a replacement as soon as i notified amazon of the broken one still in the package. over all 4 out of 5.

My previous tail gate latch bezel was stolen off my 2003 Chevy Silverado so I bought this as a replacement. My package came earlier than expected and I was happy to see they shipped it with lots of foam and padding around to protect it. It’s very easy to install just wipe the grime off your tailgate, peel the adhesive, and snap it in. Fits like a charm and if I ever needed to I would buy this again. The only down side is the price, it is the cheapest I’ve found but seems a little pricey for me; 100% a great product though.

I was replacing the little plastic retainers that hold the tailgate latch actuator rods to the tailgate latch. Well, it broke when I was removing it. Probably old age or mechanical failure due to over exertion of an old man with a screwdriver. Well anyway, it broke and I got this replacement from Amazon and it worked flawlessly. Lubricate the retainers to aide in installation. I know it don’t sound right, but it’s the truth.

It snapped in and fit perfectly.I tried a cheaper replacement that broke as soon as I put it on. I should have started with the Dorman.

Fit on my 2005 Sierra. Install it on a warm day. The snap on edges are rough so take some fine sandpaper and clean them smooth. I waited until it was warm outside and set it on my hood in the sun to let it get real warm then slowly installed it. Push it in place, do not pound on it. It has sticky rubber tape on each side just like your old one. It is not a perfect real tight fitted form. I think the rubber tape for mounting it is a hair to thick but it is not loose or sloppy looking. Fits well for a thin plastic replacement at a good price. We will see how long it stays in place. Remember you do not have a perfectly new tailgate.
