Will this work on nylon carpet?

I used it on an oriental-style rug and a braided rug. The braided rug was definitely more work to push the blade through; however, to be fair, it was done secondly so the blade may have dulled in the process a bit.

where can you buy reolacement blades ?

Can’t answer that , but you can turn the blade to get longer life

how thick a carpet will this cut? Mine is about 1/2 inch and I'm not sure that this product could accomodate it?

It worked on our carpet and pad. Our carpet was 1/2 inch.
