I need to stash this ncg box on end. are the ends square to the sides?

I have several of the exact NGC boxes that you are asking about. You will have no problem standing them on end. Even when full.

Will this hold 1oz Silver Bars?

Haven't tried. I'm sure it will. May not be snug. They have plastic ones that hold 20 bars. I have a few. They are like $1.00 and change at local coin shops.
