This isn’t my first one, I had the same model before but accidentally dropped and broke it. Still, I liked it a lot and bought the same again.

I planned to (reluctantly) retire my 10 year old PC and move on to a newer system or laptop. I wanted to transfer all the important files and data from my old PC to a new storage which could be installed in the new system or laptop. I was unsure if I should be going with a PCI-e SSD or a SATAIII SSD. Doing a bit of research, I ended up purchasing a Crucial MX500 1TB SATAIII SSD. As I would be working with my PC till the new one (system or laptop) arrived, I wanted to ensure that the SSD has some sort of protection while being plugged as an external storage device. My past experiences with external drive cases and drive connectors are bittersweet. I had some which would not work straight out of the box and some which would just randomly chose not to work (even though the HDD was fine). Therefore, it was with a lot of apprehension that I chose the UGREEN USB C Hard Drive Enclosure. The enclosure comes in 2 options: 1. the one with USB 3.1 Type C to SATA connector (this one), and 2. the one with a USB 3.0 Type B to SATA connector. I purchased this one as I could use a USB Type C to Type C cable which would offer (theoretically) higher transfer speeds and bandwidth. Also, it meant that in case I lost the cable which came with the enclosure at some point, I could still try or be able to use the one from my android device. The enclosure comes in good packaging with a simple instructions manual. This is a tool-less installation enclosure, so to install and use, you just: 1. Slide open the cover of the enclosure 2. Match the SATA ports on the SSD or 2.5inch HDD 3. Slide in your SSD or HDD till it snaps fit with the SATA connector 4. Close the rear cover 5. Plug in the cable to Type C connector on the enclosure and to a USB (3.0 or 2.0) Type A port on your PC/laptop The drive starts to or should start to work immediately. In case it doesn't, check the connection between the SATA connector and your SSD or HDD. The enclosure comes with foam padding on 3 sides - 2 longer sides along the length of the main enclosure and one on the rear (fixed inside the cover). This ensures that the drive doesn't move around and has some shock absorption. This is not a water-proof and dust-proof enclosure. I would categorize it as a water-resistant and dust-resistant enclosure. As my system is older, I have plugged this into a USB 2.0 port. I haven't run any performance tests with my SSD plugged into the enclosure, as my intention was to save the data on priority. Overall, my impression was that, the transfer rates are on par with the speeds the connectors support. I have waited a couple of days before writing this review, just to be sure that there are no misleading first impressions. I am absolutely satisfied with this enclosure and it's performance. For this it gets top points.

It's the best enclosure for the price. Loses one star because it could have been more sturdy.

I like the product. Compared to SATA to USB cables, the risk of fatigue failure of the SATA connector on the cable or the storage drive is greatly reduced.

Excellent for ssd ,,, love it

Got a sustained 380 MByte/s read speed with it, using its original cable. With the usual cables I got with phones etc., it was 30..40 MB/s (yes, about 10%), so I cannot stress it enough: use it with a quality cable (like the one it is shipped with), a lot depends on it! It's a plain plastic box, no screws, just plug the ssd into it, slide the cover on, and ready to go. If you use it with an hdd, handle it with a bit more care, it's not much of a mechanical shock protection, it's designed for ssds.

Work as intended and also fast enough that you will be getting sometimes more than 100mbps data transfer.

Acheté pour remplacer un boîtier entrée de gamme Seagate (1To 5400trs) J'apprécie l'arrêt de la rotation après 15mn sans activité :) Je peux l'oublier, il fera pas le tour de la terre. Bonne électronique. C'est mon 3 ème, pour faire des disques baladeurs. J'ai aussi un excellent boîtier Ugreen de 3,5", (le seul à avoir pu discuter avec un disque dur planté :) qui drive un 6To 7500trs et ça va (4 ans, onduleur). Ces boîtiers s'ouvrent sans outils, on peut changer rapidement de disque. Zéro souci pour moi, je conseille. C'est pas bien les soucis :) Livré avec un câble USBA/usbC de 50cm.

Acquistato per il riuso di un HDD interno dopo l'upgrade che ho fatto da HDD a SSD. -Spedito neii tempi di consegna stimati -Confezione originale del produttore che garantisce una buona protezione durante il transito. -Robusto -Ottimo il contenimento dell'HDD al suo interno grazie alla splendida funzionalità Anti-Shock -Ottima qualità dei materiali -Viene riconosciuto quasi all'istante dalla maggior parte dei PC (sia tramite la porta USB 2.0 sia, ovviamente, da quella 3.0) -La trasmissione tramite Porta USB 3.0 funziona perfettamente; questo l'ho riscontrato tentando il passaggio di 20 GB di materiale sia tramite la porta USB 2.0 che tramite quella 3.0, con una straordinaria differenza di quasi il 50%. -Rapporto Qualità/Prezzo: 100% Sembra di avere tra le mani un HDD esterno di quelli che si acquistano già assemblati dai produttori nei negozi. Sono molto soddisfatto di questo acquisto e lo consiglio tranquillamente a tutti quelli che hanno intenzione di non accantonare un eventuale disco interno e sfruttarlo al meglio non spendendo cifre esagerate. P.S. Funziona Benissimo con qualsiasi Hard drive di diverse generazioni...ma è giusto precisare, date le specifiche tecniche di ultima generazione di questo Case Esterno, che avrà un maggior rendimento se l'HDD (o SSD) che viene inserito al suo interno sia anch'esso (a livello di scrittura/lettura, e più in generale, di tecnologia implementata) di una recente generazione.

works great with my 860 evo, easily secures the hdd and uses usb c cable.
