Fantastic fan that takes up little space
I love this very stylish, light weight, and adaptable fan. What makes it adaptable is it’s use of either horizontal space or vertical space. The buttons on the fan take a soft touch, not unlike the touch one uses on the screen of an iPad. That’s to say that the buttons don’t require one to press them hard at all, just lightly tap them. I could see this being a great advantage for someone with terrible arthritis in their hands having the ability to operate this fan with ease. There are 3 speed levels and it’s very quiet. I would describe the sound as a low hum. Looking at the fan, you will notice a grill that can be divided by three lengthwise. Two thirds of that area is for air intake, so only one third focuses the actual outward airflow. This is not a problem as there’s sufficient outflow of air from this small fan. The air is all channeled in one direction. Some might find this a drawback as this fan doesn’t oscillate. What one can do if they have limited space on a small table is turn the fan on its base to direct the airflow where they want it. This fan must be plugged in for it to work either via a USB port or an electrical outlet. The wall adapter (plug) is included with the USB cable which is a plus so that you don’t have to purchase one or for example, use the one that charges your phone. The fan is small enough that I could envision packing in my suitcase to take on a trip. The fan is black so I can imagine seeing the dust settling on it. A damp cloth will easily take care of that problem. The stand is silver and a portion of the stand can be removed/replaced to position the fan either horizontally or vertically as a tower fan. There’s a small amount of orange color at each end. I personally wish that the orange wasn’t there, but it’s certainly not a dealbreaker for me. The biggest drawback for me is that I can’t see how one could possibly clean the fan blades. The instruction booklet states to use a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to vacuum any accumulated dust. Lastly, the device comes with a 1 year warranty. I couldn’t be more pleased with the purchase of this Sharper Image fan, and I’m considering the purchase of one of the larger Sharper Image tower fans considering how well this one works and how quiet it is. I believe that the majority of people that purchase this fan will be pleased with the product.

Very Energy Efficient
I had purchased this for my wife, to replace a small 120VAC van she uses. It is a bit loud, but creates good (unintentional) white noise for sleeping. I saw this fan that also had a built in light and figured it would be a great replacement for the old fan. It is much quieter, and the two speeds are great (High 423cfm, Low 240 cfm). It moves a lot of air. We enjoy the vertical and horizontal orientation options. We recently took this fan camping and it performed well. We were able to run this two night on a 120Wh power bank. I will probably purchase the 12-inch version for dedicated camping use. As expected, another quality product under the Sharper Image brand. My only complaints about this product would be the ergonomics on the buttons. There is no tactile feedback on the controls. In the dark you don't know what button of the 4 you are pushing. Easy enough to memorize I suppose, but some texture on some of the buttons or convex instead on concave shapes would have gone a long way. I think they might even be capacitive buttons, as you can operate them with zero physical contact, just a light hover of the finger.

I like the idea of a tower fan vertical on your desk.
Ok this might be long one, but might help people that buy this. So I need this fans little brother at Wal-Mart a week ago. From the package I didn't know it was sharper image.... But looking at the box I noticed that this was a desk tower fan. When I say tower fan, I guess its the only way to explain that this fan is using a type of blade that is long and in a cylinder configuration instead of just your typical round fan type. Sounds weird I know. Most tower fans that are used in your living room have a similar working idea. I wanted a fan similar to this thinking, but for my desk. Then I see the little guy. I bought it. Love the idea of this fan blade type on my desk in a horizontal position right behind my keyboard. It pushes air across my desk and at my chest and lower part of my head in the position that I currently have it in covering the width of my shoulders. Most desk fans in the past have only really been good to cover my face or neck area. This one is like putting 3-4 fans pointed directly at me. Its what I always wanted in a desk fan. So Now I purchased the bigger brother, and it does the same but with more coverage. Almost want to get the 47 inch one, but that would be crazy and cover my whole desk. I hope other companies follow this thinking. I would also like to see a air evaporator version of this for the mid summer when its hot and stale in Southern California. You can live without AC in Cali, you just need to know how to circulate the air.Pros: Great fan area coverage. Unique concept that I have not seen from other brands....yet.... Has that sharper image build quality. Plastic feels strong and construction is tight.Picture shows both the 12 inch and the 16 inch Airbar for comparison.Cons: No way to service it around the blade area as it looks glued shut. Only can clean around the grills. Will see over time if this is a problem, they used metal for the fan blades so it might be ok.The light is a waste. Its position is wrong and not useful in most situations. I would have honestly preferred maybe a RGB light strip that can be controlled to set a "mood" light rather then a desk light that doesn't do its job correctly
