Wow - I'm still trying to process what, exactly, it is I just read, but in the best way possible! This was a truly original read - it' s been a while since I've tackled a paranormal romance, but I can confidently say I don't think I've ever read anything like this before! This is my second read by Colleen Hoover & I'm absolutely in love with her writing - she draws you in right from the beginning & keeps you glued to the pages throughout. I don't want to say too much about this because it's insanely difficult to accurately discuss everything without delving into spoiler territory. I will say this, however - I liked it a lot when I finished it, but as I sat with it more, I realized just how effective the story really was, turning this into a love for me. There was something about the way everything played out that really struck a chord with me, I don't think I expected it to have as big of an emotional punch as it had. I can't wait to go back & give this another read at some point - I think it'll be fascinating going into this again once you know how everything plays out. I hope this isn't her last time dabbling into paranormal romance, it really felt like a much needed breath of fresh air!

A hauntingly unique mix of romance and the supernatural. Colleen Hoover delivered an eerie yet emotional story that kept me turning the pages. The suspenseful atmosphere and unexpected twists made it stand out from her usual books, and I loved the way the relationship developed despite all the strange circumstances. It was a little slow in some parts, but overall a captivating read that blended love and the paranormal in a really fresh way.

Despite that - this book is NOT "Verity", but those who loved it, will probably enjoy this book as well. 😍 The story was interesting, creepy and weird at the same time (well, it still a paranormal romance 😂) - and starts with a big BANG that made me so curious - but the plot was too slow and there were moments I got bored... if I would have read and not heard the audio, I probably would have skipped a few parts - because as a thriller, it needed more suspense... and as a novel, it needed more romance... 😬 📚 “𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. I had some ideas, but I certainly did not expect what happened there. 😱😱😱 To sum up, this book was good (well dah, CoHo wrote it! 😂👑) But it wasn't amazing... I recommend it if you like suspense and paranormal romances.

This is my first ever calling Hoover book. I have never really gravitated towards her stuff because contemporary romances are not my thing. I know a lot of people consider her stuff “dark and disturbing“ because some of her books have themes of abuse in them. No offense, but that is not what I consider dark and disturbing. It’s just too mild in comparison to what I normally read. Basic romance books are so boring to me unless there is some exciting or mysterious plot surrounding it. The only reason I gravitated towards this book was because it was labeled as a romantic suspense and paranormal romance. That sounded a little more intriguing to me. So I figured I’d give it a go and I’m glad I did because I loved this book. I honestly wish that she would dabble more into the genre of paranormal romance or thrillers, because this was done very well. It was a very engaging book, and I think that she could appeal to a whole separate group of readers if she would lean more in this direction from time to time. There are only two other books from her that I would consider reading, which are Verity, and Too Late. And again, it’s because they are the only other books by her that I could find that were labeled as psychological thrillers or suspense. Anyway, I really enjoyed this book. It had me hooked from the beginning to the end, and I read it while tandem listening to the audio, and the audio was done great as well. I highly recommend this book. Especially for people who consider most of Colleen Hoover’s stuff to be to fluffy, boring, and mild. Well done! 👍🏼

This book was nothing like I expected—in the best way possible. Colleen Hoover blends romance, suspense, and a touch of the supernatural into a story that’s completely captivating from start to finish. The pacing is perfect, with just enough mystery to keep you hooked while still delivering the emotional depth her books are known for. Leeds and Layla’s relationship is intense and complex, and the twists had me second-guessing everything I thought I knew. I loved how the story kept peeling back layers until the very end, and when I finally got the full picture, it hit me hard. It’s eerie, emotional, and completely original—a book that lingers in your mind long after you’ve finished. If you like your romance with a dark, mysterious edge, Layla is an absolute must-read.

4,75 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Zuallererst möchte ich kurz sagen, das ich seit ich als Kind den Film ‚Ghost- Nachricht an Sam’ gesehen habe zu einem Fan der Fantastischen/Paranormalen/Supernatural Geschichten geworden bin. Was sich in meiner Film und Bücherauswahl niedergeschlagen hat. Ich liebe Geschichten die von Geistern, Monstern, Dämonen, Hexen, Göttern und vielen anderen Kreaturen handeln. Bücher aus dem Genre Contemporary Romance habe ich erst durch Colleen Hoover lieben gelernt. Als Colleen verkündet hat das sie eine „Paranormal Romance“ veröffentlichten wird, die irgendwie in kein Genre so wirklich zu passend scheint wurde ich neugierig. Nun endlich zum Imhalt des Buches! Achtung Spoiler! Bei einer Hochzeitsfeier in einem Bed & Breakfast lernen sich Leeds und Lalya kennen und stürzen sich in eine Beziehung. Alles läuft perfekt, bis es zu einem tragischen Zwischenfall kommt. Danach ist Layla nicht mehr die alte, um die guten alten Zeiten wieder zu beleben organisiert Leeds eine Reise zu den Anfängen ihrer Beziehung. Gleich nach der Ankunft in dem B&B kommt es zu unerklärlichen Vorkommnissen. Die Geschichte wird aus Leeds Perspektive geschildert. Anfangs wechselt die Geschichte zwischen Interview Szenen und Leeds Erz In den Diskussionsgruppen und auch hier gibt es viele die Leeds nicht mögen und ihn aufgrund seiner Gefühle und Handlungen als A*** abstempeln. Einer der Gründe ist die vermeintliche 3. Person die sich in Leeds und Layla’s Beziehung schiebt. Meiner Meinung nach ist dies aber nicht berechtigt, da es in Wirklichkeit nie ein Liebesdreieck gibt. Leeds liebt Lalyla nicht nur einfach sie ist seine Seelenverwandte und sie haben es nicht nur einmal oder zweimal geschafft sich in den ‚Realmen‘ zu finden sondern ganze dreimal! Ich gebe dem Buch nur deshalb keine vollen 5 Sterne, weil ich es irgendwie falsch und unrealistisch (😅) finde das Leeds in Bezug auf Sable keine Schuldgefühle hat. Zwar wird Kurz angemerkt das er in dem Moment in dem „Es“ geschah es wollte, aber das ihm keine Zweifel und Schuldgefühle plagen finde ich irgendwie schrecklich. Was für mich auch nochmal am Ende der Geschichte unterstrichen wird. So nachdem Motto der Zweck heiligt die Mittel und Sable trägt selbst die Schuld an ihrer Zukunft. Ich habe die Lektüre sehr genossen und hoffe viele von euch sind offen und geben dem Buch eine Chance! :)

Bellissimo

This story was breathtakingly beautiful. It deals with after life. It's something which is difficult to comprehend. However the way the events have been mentioned, the storyline, it just keeps you glued on to kindle. Like various other novels of Collen hoover, this one also leaves you mesmerized once you reach the end. Additionally her style of writing is very refined. Her ability to express emotions through words is exceptional! Needless to mention the strong story lines. Enjoyed the book.

No sabia que esperar pero la verdad me gustô mucho la historia, es un thriller y me pareciô original, super entretenida y facil de leer, si lo recomiendo
