Works like it should
This is a second one I bought. First one was much cheaper off brand and it was horrible. I should not have tried to save money. First one covered my presto pressure lid with rust after just 1 canning! It wasn't well made stainless steel probably. So I bought this one and it worked great! My presto pressure cooker came with pressure gauge. First one broke after 2 canning times. Then a few months later the second one got stuck on 5. I didn't want to spend $20-30 every few months on pressure gauge. So I bought this weighted pressure regulator and I am never going back to gauges. Less babysitting needed and the weighted presto regulator doesn't just inform me of the pressure I need during canning, it actually regulates the pressure. I love it!!!

Exactly what I needed!
I honestly don't understand why Presto doesn't package this as standard with their pressure cookers and pressure canners instead of the fixed 15 pound weight. This weight lets me choose between 5 lb, 10 lb, and 15 lb. It is perfect for me. When I can tomatoes at 11 pounds, I use the 10 pound weight and it works perfectly. The pressure rises to 11 pounds and starts releasing. This way I don't have to be quite as diligent with my flame since it will exhaust the excess without generating excess pounds. BTW, I process/can tomatoes with a pressure canner instead of water bath because it's faster (uses less natural gas) and the pressure canner fits on the stove better than the big water bath pot, especially when I'm using the other burners. If you have a Presto pressure cooker or pressure canner, you really need this. It's a shame they don't include it instead of the fixed weight that comes with their equipment. Also, I should note that my Presto pressure canner has a port for the weight as well as the dial gauge. I recommend the canner with a gauge. That way, you can use the weight to regulate while also viewing the pressure so you know exactly what is going on. You are also able to tell that your gauge is calibrated or not based on how it reads with respect to the size weight you are using. If you are buying a pressure canner, make sure you get the model with the gauge. It's only a few dollars more. Be careful, the model at WalMart may not have the gauge. I bought my canner on Amazon. It's a model 1755.

This is a must-have accessory for your Presto canner
I can hundreds of jars a year, as well as teaching some classes, and have used this gauge for about a year now as an alternative to dial gauge testing, since my local Extension offices no longer offer the service. I have a #01781 Presto 23-quart dial-gauge pressure canner ( Presto 01781 23-Quart Pressure Canner and Cooker ), which comes with just the 15-lb. one-piece regulator when you buy it new. I spoke with one of Presto's home economists this morning and she confirmed that you *can* safely use this three-piece weighted regulator with the 23-quart dial-gauge canner, provided you go by what the weighted gauge is telling you, NOT what the dial gauge is telling you. They do not consider it safe to use this to test or verify your dial gauge, but you may use it instead of relying on a untested dial gauge. So if you have purchased the commonly-available 23-quart dial-gauge Presto canner, but cannot find a source for local testing, this is a good option for you. Just remember to judge your pressure based on the jiggling of the weighted gauge and not based on the pressure reading you see on the dial -- the dial may be incorrect! If you have any questions about using the weighted gauge, please call Presto's free help line: 1 800 877 0441, and they can advise you. For those who are looking for more detail on how this works: this weight comes in three parts. The center piece is equivalent to 5 pounds of pressure, and there are two rings at 5 pounds each. So if you're canning at 10 pounds of pressure normally (or the 11 recommended for dial gauges), you will use the center piece with the black handle with one of the two rings on it. If you are canning at 15 pounds, you would use all three. Please remember that the guidelines for adjusting your processsing for high altitudes are different for weighted gauges than for dial gauges (since you can only go up in increments of 5 pounds with a weighted gauge), and call Presto or your local Extension office if you have any questions about how to do this safely. This is a pretty simple product, so there's not much else to say about it except that I find it easy to use and easy to clean. As others have said, it's helpful if you've had trouble keeping the pressure exactly where you want it; I find using it to be less fiddly than dealing with the dial gauge. Because I'm not fiddling with the heat on the stove as much, I can do other things around the kitchen while I'm waiting through the processing time, and be reassured that the pressure is consistent by the sound of the weighted gauge rocking rather than by constantly looking at it. If you're buying the 23-quart canner, this is one of the two accessories I consider essential -- it's worth it to spend the extra $20 or so to buy this and an extra flat rack for stacking jars.

Good quality, worth the price to me
Much better quality than the oem one, or at least the one that came with my gently used stainless steel Presto pressure cooker. The original one is severely corroded in the pocket and all around the outside surface. That one isn’t adjustable though I don’t see myself ever using that feature. I just wanted good quality SS.

Great Regulator for Dial Gauge Canner
I got this regulator to replace the Presto Pressure Canner regulator out of the box. I have not looked back. It is easier to hear from the next room or count the jiggles. Highly recommend not trusting just the dial gauge on any canner. Especially, if you haven’t had it checked at the extension office this year.

Perfction!
This is perfect for folks who preserve food in jars who do not have the ability to have their pressure gauge on their Presto pressure canner tested yearly. Plus, you no longer have to constantly check a gauge. 10000000% recommended upgrade.

No More Dial Watching
This weight takes the stress out of pressure canning. Instead of constantly watching the dial one listens for the gentle rhythmic rocking. It allows you to do other kitchen tasks during processing.

I bought mine awhile back and found out my sister didn't have this so I thought I'd ease her mind. This works so well.

It's an essential item for anyone with a Presto pressure canner, very happy with it. Although Presto sell this 3 part jiggler weight with smaller canners as standard, they only sell the 23 quart canner with a 15lb jiggler and you have to buy the 3 part one separately 🤷♂️ which makes no sense Presto.

Get this. It will make canning so much better and easier.

Tengo dos ollas de presión Presto. Ambas usan manómetro así que este regulador me va a ayudar a mantener la presión sin estar cuidando el manómetro para envasar conservas.
