The Very Best Snap Caps on the Market
A-Zoom snap caps are probably the best on the market. I have sets in .308 Win., .30-06, and 7.62x39 and they are most definitely worth the money. They are made out of metal, unlike cheaper versions that are made out of plastic. This may not seem like a necessity on something like a snap cap, but it is an indispensable feature when trying to diagnose why a semi-automatic rifle is jamming. Semi-auto rifles' recoil springs are very strong and if one is not feeding ammunition reliably, that usually means damaged ammo, which could mean wasted money. These snap caps can take a lot of abuse and keep right on working. They load and feed just like live ammo and where the primer would normally be there's a small clear rubber pad that the firing pin will hit that makes dry firing the firearm safe. Over time, and also depending on how hard a rifle's action is on the casings, the paint will wear off but that doesn't affect how they perform. Even after they are all beat up they still function just like they are supposed to. I'm glad I bought them and I will be purchasing more in different calibers in the future.

Work for the intended purpose, just slightly smaller ...
Dimensions are slightly smaller than the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI) specifications that are a worldwide standard that includes the .44 magnum and .44 Special cartridges. There may be a reason for this that evades me. They do, however, work for the intended purpose.

a great training tool
To be fair and honest, I will use this same review for all the snap caps I have purchased, nothing changes just because the caliber does. Snap caps are an inexpensive tool to use for training your trigger pull and reaction when pulling the trigger of your pistol. Before you take your pistol to the range, throw a few of these caps in pistol and practice squeezing the trigger so you get the feel of how much force you need and where it breaks when firing. Next, place a nickel or dime on the front of the barrel (on a semi-auto, this won't work on revolvers), close to the front site. Find a target to aim at, squeeze the trigger until the hammer fires, all while trying to keep the coin in place. Many people will flinch while pulling the trigger in anticipation of the of the upcoming shot. This practice will help minimize or eliminate this problem. The best part about this practice is you're not wasting ammo at the range, now when you get there you can feel more confident. These caps are used to protect the firing pin from bottoming out in its bore buy absorbing the impact when the trigger is pulled. You don't have to use them, but if you break a firing pin and have to have a gunsmith install a new one, the price for these caps would have been a real bargain.

Works perfectly in Ruger American
I was actually a little skeptical about these snap caps because I have the same brand in 40 caliber and have had problems with them...just the usual thing, frequent failure to feed and the edges getting all chewed up. Given that the dimensions on this are not quite right apparently (the bullet part is shorter than it is in a real 308 bullet) I was concerned. However, I'm happy to report that these work completely flawlessly in my Ruger American rifle. I think the mechanisms in a striker-fired pistol are harder on snap caps than those of a bolt-action rifle. I don't see any damage to these snap caps from repeated usage in my rifle and they always load and eject perfectly...completely flawless. My only beef with these is the same as my beef with all snap caps. They are just too expensive. For only two caps. Luckily I don't cycle them nearly as fast in my rifle as I do in my pistol so I guess it's ok. For a pistol I might recommend the plastic ones with a spring in them, but for a bolt-action rifle, these are exactly what's wanted.
