Expensive - but allows you to check the state of pretty much ALL batteries
Expensive - but allows you to check the state of pretty much ALL batteries, including those 18650 ones you use in torches and the CR3 ones in my house alarm. Great bit of kit.

More sophisticated than more basic battery testers.
More sophisticated than more basic battery testers. I really like this batterytester as it checks voltage, resistance and capacity, so it will tell you how much life is still left in the battery if any. You will know if the battery is dead or your device. Some reviewers say that it can be difficult to read the dial markings and the non-backlit display. I found the display to be quite readable under normal indoor light. A backlight would have been cool, but would inevitably make the unit more costly. The settings around the dial are printed rather small, but again I found that I could read them quite easily with my reading glasses on which I need to see at this distance anyway. All in all, I can say that this is a good piece of equipment for the purpose.

More adaptable than simple testers
Seems to work well. It is good to have the voltage and the power percentage and this is linked to the type of battery, The numbers round the dial are small and I suspect that they may wear. The instructions are badly translated eg No2 of Operations "Insert the USB test cable with USB female seat in the bottom of the product" - it does not have a USB lead or socket! and No 3 of Operations "Open type gear knob switch to be measured battery. LCD screen will display full screen 5 seconds.". Fortunately, the operation is basically the same as a standard multimeter so is straight forward.

Perfect!
Yes, It does exactly what it is advertised to do. As a professional engineer, I'm happy to recommend it to others.

Slightly fiddly to use but built to last
Having had a couple of very cheaply made battery devices where the very thin wires they use snaps internally and you find you also need to buy a soldering iron, solder and a metre of spare wiring to be able to repair them. I thought I’d get one that has half a chance of lasting on it's own instead so chose the one someone else suggested in the review for a similar battery charger I’ve had in the past that had also failed on him. definately glad that I did. I agree you need a suitable surface to place the battery and battery tester on to or you’ll need 4 hands to hold everything in place while testing. The other type of battery testers don’t enabling you to test batteries far easier. Thankfully this comes with a short but a useful set of instructions , can’t vouch for the German and Japanese language instructions, but the English instructions were enough to be able to use the device. Worth reading through the instructions and keeping them to hand just in case, as with out you may come to the wrong conclusion. I’m no electrical expert so I’ve not a clue what the Ohmage means when I have an AA Alkaline battery reporting 1.39v along with 956m ohms. This device reports says the battery should have no charge but yet the battery works in my wireless mouse OK. It may be indicative that the battery I have may start leaking and fail sooner rather than later anyway, but also the fact the device I’m using will happy work with a battery down to 1.1 volts and can be used with either an alkaline battery as well as a rechargeable one. As I need to be able to check batteries and with this design of tester I’ve also been able to check desk plug fuses (handy when a packet burst and got mixed up with a few already dead ones) by adding a battery into the circuit gives me a much needed added functionality. This device definitely fills me with the confidence that it should last more than the typical 50-150 battery tests the cheaper hand held options (that don’t need additional batteries installed to work) typically last for. Thankfully the device comes supplied with 2 AAA batteries it needs. It also looked a lot easier to use than a standard volt metre device would have been. I can’t vouch for it’s accuracy but for my needs it enables me to be able to distinguish between a dead battery or one that needs charging and one that doesn’t or needs replacing, or I've got a dead wireless keyboard or mouse in a work environment.

Works but not how you would expect
This device measures the impedance of the battery and not the internal resistance only. Meaning there is a reactive component to the reading. The impedance reading will not tell you about the remaining capacity of the battery it will tell you just if the battery is in good shape and can hold charge. It’s a relative measure meaning you need to discover some base values yourself. E.g.: A cheap new 1.5V alkaline battery measures 250mO while Amazon basic battery measured 63mO, meaning the latter can hold more charge so is of better quality. Also lots of people complain about inconsistent readings and that is because of the contact between the battery terminals and the tester. Is very sensible to small changes in resistance and that happens with just tilting a bit the tester lead contact.

Easy to use and well made
I have been looking for a device to measure the voltage of batteries under load for some time. This seems to be one of the few available and it does the job really well. Most testers only measure the battery voltage which is not sufficiently accurate. This is easy to use and appears well made. My only slight complaint is the display is not illuminated which can make it slightly difficult to read the figures. This is not a major problem and I would still highly recommend this device.
