Great knife
Great knife for around the garden. It's sharp right out of the package.

Shockingly good
I am actually pretty shocked at the fit and finish of this knife in a very positive way. For under $10 this knife has the build quality of knives costing 10x what this one does. I am a collector of pocket knives and I also make my own knives, and I have to say on first impressions this knife is seriously very solid. I also used it to prune and the hawkbill is razor sharp and did what was expected. Well worth it.

Great value for money
For $8, I am ecstatic to have gotten an apparently decent knife. The shape feels comfortable in my hand and the blades are solid in their base and came nice and sharp. The blades themselves are fairly thin, but a knife like this shouldn't see much abuse at all. When it first came, blade opening and closing was a bit jerky, but after doing so several times they seem to have smoothed out. Lubrication probably just needed working in. There are two minor imperfections in my knife and the wood doesn't seem to be sealed, which is why I gave four stars instead of five.

Nice looking and well made
I use it around the house to head roses, cut vines, and the like. It is much better than a straight blade for things like that. I also use it to open boxes from Amazon. It was decently sharp when it arrived. I have some diamond honing blocks but did not feel the need to use them. The wood on the handle is stained but otherwise not treated. For the time being I just rubbed some canola oil on it. The notches on the straight blade are not sharp. I have some miniature files I can use to fix that, but have not yet bothered. The notches may be good for stripping insulation from wires. I think this is a good value. ---- update December 15 2018 ---- I still like this knife very much and I have used it a lot. It's been very handy to be able to carry a good pruning knife in my pocket, and the curved blade has also opened a ton of amazon boxes. The wooden sides show no wear even though I have carried it in my pocket every day.

Handy pruning knife at a good price
I have seen reviews that say this could accidentally close, and no, this is not a lockback knife, but if you use any reasonable degree of care, that should not be an issue. Considering the angle with which you would use a hook bill knife, it’s very unlikely. This arrived sharp, good blade alignment, so it closes neatly, and finish is much better than I expected at this price point.

Good, sturdy hook knife.
Hook / Hawkbill knives, as a style of knife, have been around for a long time. Circa, 1920-40, first made as a pocket knife by Case Brothers Cutlery. This type of knife has I think historically, when it comes to using a hook knife as a tradesman, it has been used to cut carpet, or long cuts for linoleum floor covering. I had a hook knife when I was a kid working on our farm. Remember the word I used earlier "historically". I have a little bit of historical perspective myself, since I will have my 71st. Birthday this November 27, 2022. I purchased this "Rite Edge Pruning Knife", just to have and enjoy it, to remember some of my childhood and have it as an every-day-carry. So, enough about me; This IS a credible knife and I WILL be using it as a tool while working in my vegetable garden, cutting string, pruning plants and other tasks. The handle is a smooth synthetic wood and well made, as are the stainless-steel blades. I am enjoying my purchase and would recommend it to others. Having said all that, one last caveat: For those of you who want to purchase American Made USA Knives, this Rite Edge knife is made in China. Hope this helps you with your potential purchase. Best and Blessed to all.. \:O).>>>

Makes quick work opening your Amazon boxes too!!!
Ended up buying another after getting the first one. I originally bought the first for gardening and harvesting which does the job however read another review about using to open and break down boxes. Had to test it out. Surprisingly this knife is easier to use than a regular box cutter. Don’t get me wrong a box cutter works, just this curved hawkbill works just as well too and even handles better imho, gets between the edges quicker and with a straighter cut. I got the second one just for that to open the slew of delivery and amazon boxes more or less. If you get a zillion delivery boxes don’t see this as frivolous, saves time and aggravation using scissors or whatever is laying around. Also use it on the air filler packaging. Makes for quick work compressing boxes and packing material. Oh the gardening, I don’t see reasons for the complaints about the blade not being sharp enough, seems plenty sharp for harvesting vegetables. Anything sharper cut might call for another type of tool. Besides a knife or tool sharpener can make it to your preference. But out of box this knife works fine for my needs. I will say oddly the second knife blade is stamped stainless steel on the blade, first is not, but they are identical in the second pic. Guessing just a manufacturing irregularity. Great buy and bargain for a useful hawkbill knife.

Very stiff and not sharp
To pull out each blade it takes some work as there’s very little give. It’s not very sharp so won’t do much pruning. But this is a perfect pocket knife to use when needing something “sharp” other than a key.

Ah! E veio com lamina torta e pinos do cabo faltando.
