CanaKit Raspberry Pi 4 Basic Starter Kit with Official Case (1GB RAM)

I wanted a new Raspberry Pi ver 4B. Needed new case as a lot of the ports have changed locations. I found this one and it is just what I needed. Everything was there out of the box. Good starter kit for the new Pi. Everything worked when I built it up.

The Pi itself is terrific value for money, a tiny computer that does the job of a full sized desktop from 10 years ago.The CanaKits bring all the bits you need to make the Pi ready to use, with options to leave out things you might already have (like memory cards...)One quirk of the Pi4, particularly on release, it ran hot, and the case would not vent the heat effectively with the lid on. For my purposes, I took the lid off and all was good. Later firmware updates to the Pi4 are supposed to have improved the thermal performance.

This was my first Raspberry Pi product that I've bought. I bought the highest end Pi thinking that I'd need all the power I can squeeze from the little ARM device, but that turned out to just not be true as this little device takes everything with stride. I have it running ad blocking services, file hosting, web hosting, emulation, movies, web browsing, and for programming all without breaking a sweat! I went out and purchased a Pi Zero W and a Pi 3 B+ on sale after this just so I could have more cheap, dedicated computers that can travel with me!For first time buyers, this Pi is more than you'll probably ever need, especially given the tiny Linux distro Raspbian that comes with it, but it doesn't hurt to have the best! It's also a great platform to learn coding on as it can run and compile nearly any language you can dream of and is a perfect platform to learn ARM assembly.

that with the official Pi4 case provided, closed up as intended, there is zero airflow so the Pi 4 will overheat very quickly, even with the supplied heat sinks installed. If you search around online, you will find various DIY articles on how to add a fan. This is a necessity... or run with the lid off, or buy a kit without the official case then pick up a 3rd party case that includes a fan.Other than that, the Pi 4 is a superb upgrade. It's fast and could easily substitute for a traditional desktop for light work (get the 4GB model if that's your intent). I knocked one star off just because of the case provided.

Perfect as usual. Make sure you note that a Micro SD card is not included.

Everything needed is included in this kit, except for the 32Gb Micro SD Card. But biggest problem with this is the case design. My Pi 4 is throttling because the heat has nowhere to go. The heat sinks work fine, as long as you don't put the cover on the case. I had to order a 25mm fan, and cut a hole in the top just to keep the Pi running. No, I don't even have the Pi Overclocked. I recommend another kit with a more ventilated case.

This kit is a perfect combination of everything you need to get started, I like that it doesn't include an sdcard like most others do. Most of the accessories included are the original Raspberry Pi. The case kinda sucks as it causes overheating but that's not on CanaKit. Shipping was fast (bought before it was on prime)! Thank you!
