The Ecobee smart room sensors provide the thermostat with a window into the climate status within areas of your home that wouldn't normally be controlled. For instance, if you place it in an office, you can see the temperature in the office in the Ecobee app. You can name the sensors whatever you'd like. The thermostat calculates the average temperature throughout the home using these sensors. It then uses the result to determine how much or little to control the climate in that room in order to keep it within the range set at the thermostat.In addition, it can tell if someone is using the room where it's located in order to save power. Not in the room? Ecobee disregards the averaging feature for that room. Once someone enters, it begins again.They're very easy to use. There is no need to turn them on or off. They are extremely sensitive and reliable, and they have a very clean design.

The ecobee Smart Sensors hook into the app and ecobee thermostat super easy. Really little to no configurations at all, simply scan the QR code on the sensor and the app finds it and adds it to your thermostat.Not everyone needs additional sensors, but for me this was a must. The only thermostat that is installed is in the ecobee Smart Thermostat and it is installed in an area that does not see people cross its path very often. When it thinks that there is no one home it then stops heating or cooling to save energy (good thing). The bad part is when we don't go past the thermostat it thinks no one is home and the house either gets super cold or very hot until we go past the thermostat or manually adjust in the app. With these little sensors, you can have them in areas that people are in and it registers that someone is home and keeps the Heat or AC running.Some people may say why not turn of the the ability of the thermostat so it just stays on. Well, that defeats the purpose of a smart thermostat, and I do want it to be able to automatically turn the heating off and on if we are really not at home.Overall these are great little sensors and I think very well designed. I'm am pleased with them and happy that I have purchased them.

Works as described. No complaints. It does not help you save energy, though. Bills may even increase as the sensors will tend to make the HVAC unit to balance the temperature over the entire house. Very easy to use and install.

These are a great accessory to the Ecobee thermostat. They were so simple to set up and start using. Have had these in a few rooms for a while and we can already see an improvement in temp control for our whole house. I highly recommend adding these to your existing Ecobee system.

Had to buy these Ecobee thermostat sensors due to my old sensor failure after the battery was depleted. Replaced the battery from my collection of spare batteries but it won't synchronize with the thermostat due to replacement battery voltage at 3 volts. I bought new replacement batteries at 3.3 volts and the old sensor started synchronizing properly with the thermostat. I am glad I did not throw away this old sensor as it still works. Now I have more working sensors in my house.

Total game changer. Before installing these, the room we spent most of our time in it was always freezing because the room where the thermostat was was always three to eight degrees warmer and a/c was constantly kicking in. Put two of these throughout the house and it does a great job of averaging out the temperature. Set up was ridiculously easy and fast. So glad I switched away from my Google Nest Ecobee products!

When I was swapping from another thermostat and security system to the Ecobee to consolidate some devices and get out of rising subscription fees, I kinda brushed these sensors off as unnecessary until I set up the one that came with the thermostat and started playing with the features. I now have five of them that are spread throughout my house and have them doing the “follow me” thing where it detects occupancy in a given room then averages that room’s temperature into the other active sensors to keep the living spaces comfortable. I have a couple rooms that are usually quite a deal warmer or colder than the others and trying to target them at certain points of the day has led to other rooms being uncomfortable to accommodate. Not so with this setup. The temperature still varies from room to room but these do an outstanding job of preventing me from having to manually fiddle with the thermostat. I might grab a couple more to outfit my remaining rooms.I also like that it is natively imported into HomeKit so I can build additional automations if I want.

I have used Nest for over a decade and recently friends suggested trying Ecobee. Bought the thermostat, then read how the room sensors help to run furnace based on presence. Since buying 2 sensors, my furnace run more efficiently than with my previous thermostat. Love the follow me mode. You do not need more than 1 zone, it performs well.Had the thermostat professionally installed due to needing a C wire. Otherwise setup was a breeze.
