Best thing you could do for your mini
If you're willing to spend 75-100 on the other legitimate scope mounts for your mini, do your self a favor and spent the extar few 20s on the scout rail. It is the most superior way to scope a mini 14/30. Mounts pefectly and the gas block was easily, evenly mounted back on. Solid as a rock and acts as a truss and heat sink. Scopes are far better attached than any other option. The receiver mounts are a joke and the ruger mounts put your optics in line with the ejection path of the shells and cost an arm and a leg for what it is. Go with this you wont regret it. And it looks amazing. Much better attention to detail than other similar options, full rail end to end and the ability to add more pic rails to the sides for whatever is a huge plus and makes this an easy option. A tad more pricey but it really is worth it . Totally transformed my mini 14 195 series ranch rifle. Customer service is awesome too

It works
Fits fine, small gap between top cover and stock. I cant say for the 580 series, but the 180 series, you'll have to do one small mod to make it work. The barrel retainer that is provided. Has a small lip, that will need to be removed so that it doesn't interfere with the charge handles path of travel. After that minor inconvenience. It work fine. I mounted the Monstrum Stealth, 4x fixed magnification, optic to the rail and everything runs great.

Finally a way to mount a scope and still clean the rifle!
I have a Mini 14 from 1987. I love it, but the iron sights are getting harder to shoot as I get older. I have wanted a mount that would allow disassembly for cleaning without having to remove the scope from the rifle. This fits the bill and is very sleek to boot! Very easy to install gives a new look the the Mini.

The best way to mount a sighting device on an older Mini 14
This mount was easy to install on my 184 series Mini 14. It seems very sturdy and makes a solid mount for a scout scope or other long eye relief aiming device. My only complaint is that there is a large gap between the mount and the wooden stock, and it leaves the operating rod completely exposed. You can't wrap your hand completely around the stock as you could with the original hand guard. I mounted a Weaver scout scope on it, but as the rifle ejects up and forward, cases occasionally ping the scope. As there are no mounting bolts through the mount, the scope can be placed anywhere on the rail as long as you don't run out of eye relief. The manufacturer does recommend the use of a pistol scope or red dot scope that can be placed well clear of the ejection port. If I had it to do over, I probably would have traded the rifle off for a Ranch Rifle that is easier to mount a scope on. For those with an older Mini 14, this mount does provide a very solid way to mount a sighting device.

Great fit, look, and function, but I didn't like it in the end.
I was expecting more from this part. First, it's NOT drop in. You have to dissassemble the front housing on the barrel. It comes with the tools and is not too hard. The material is excellent grade airplane aluminum and the machining is great. Make sure you have the OLD MINI 14 because it will NOT FIT THE 580+ models. Another cool thing is that the rifle now vents to the side. Overall, I would pass on this unless you are a diehard rail fanatic. Looks great and functions great, but I can't say I liked it.

If I need another mount like this I will certainly purchase an Amega
The mount fits perfectly. It provides a rock solid mount for my Leupold EER scope. I had some difficulty putting on, but that was due to my mistakes. If I had paid closer attention I would not have had any problems. I contacted the people at Amega and they answered me promptly with patient and understanding helpful suggestions. If I need another mount like this I will certainly purchase an Amega

Best upgrade to do on a mini 14
Best upgrade to do on a mini 14. Solid for an optic, but you will need one with very long or unlimited eye relief. Ejected brass will hit anything on a cantilevered set of mounts that move the optic closer.
