IB Chemistry 2014 Study Guide: Oxford Ib Diploma Program (IB Science 2014)

My personal favourite IB revision guide, containing detailed explanations, diagrams and questions on the topics. Fully encompasses the general syllabus and laid out in student-friendly format.

I just got it today, and visually, its good. Although the font is pretty small, it is a medium sized book. Despite buying a used copy even, it is in pristine condition - couldn't even tell it was old. Content wise - it acts like a review (typical for any Oxford IB books), but it only features the SL portion of Chem IB which took me by surprise because I was expecting it would include HL, but oh well - it still works. However, it does include tips and practice for the exam which is good! Overall, a nice review for the class.

Very helpful in condensing down the material for IB chemistry. I was studying for the SL exam so I can't speak to the quality of the HL material but this guide is great if you're a little behind on your studying or trying to study the material in a more concise format so its less overwhelming. That being said, in chemistry, there is no substitute for practice questions and I found that my own notes I was familiar with were often more helpful than this guide. It can sometimes take extra time to understand the way the guide explains concepts. One thing I didn't like was the way they structure worked examples. Not enough information in the steps and the format of the solutions can be confusing. However, super concise info and overall very helpful.

Met/exceeded expectations as well as facilitated greater understanding of subject material.

Helpful addendum to the textbook for my son in an IB program.

This book is ideal for preparing for the IB chemistry exams as all information is broken down into little chunks which allows for better understanding. Furthermore, what I really liked is that there isn't any irrelevant information as in other books which significantly reduces reading time. However, I do not recommend only using this book for IB chemistry as it is more of a 'summary' for a student at the end of the course.
