These Joy-Con shells are absolutely stunning - the Sonic-themed design looks fantastic and the build quality genuinely rivals OEM Nintendo parts. My son was thrilled with how they turned out for his birthday, and honestly, people would believe these came straight from Nintendo. What Works: The shells themselves are top-notch. The plastic quality matches the original Joy-Cons perfectly, with no flex or cheap feel. The fit is precise, and once assembled, they feel indistinguishable from official Nintendo hardware. The Sonic artwork is vibrant and professionally applied - no concerns about it wearing off. The Challenge: Installation took about an hour, which is manageable but requires patience. The biggest issue is the included screwdriver - it's not magnetized, which makes handling those tiny screws unnecessarily difficult. I'd strongly recommend purchasing a proper magnetized precision screwdriver set from Amazon (usually £5-10) before starting. This single upgrade transforms the experience from frustrating to straightforward. Tips for Success: Watch YouTube tutorials beforehand - they're invaluable Clear a large, well-lit workspace Set aside 60-90 minutes without interruptions Keep a small container for organizing screws by component Seriously, get magnetized screwdrivers Overall: These shells punch well above their price point in terms of quality. With proper tools and preparation, this is a rewarding project that delivers professional-looking results. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to customize their Switch, just don't rely on the included screwdriver.

Pro: The installation is easy and it comes with quite a few extra screws and springs. Con: In the parts package there is an unknown white, round plastic part, which appears to neither fit anywhere, not is mentioned at all on the YouTube video description for the assembly. The plastic of the shell is too soft - through no effort at all several screw holes have been wound through as there appeared no difference from winding the screw in to "no further". This means several holes have no grip and the shell is rather loose. Specifically the ZL button appeared to be a particular pain in the backside which has destroyed some connections on that part when clipping it in - making the controller pretty much useless. Not only have I spent £32 on two shells which are basically broken - I now have to find myself two new left joycons. Gutted. Absolute waste.

Firstly I'd like to point out this is not a 'snap fit' style kit, you will have to take apart your joycons and you will need the right tools and confidence to do it. This kit is brilliantly well made and the parts are fantastic quality. The difficulty factor is on Nintendos part manufacturing their products in such an obtuse manner. That being send with plenty of patience and good lighting you can easily manage it. The set comes with full housing for the internals, replacement screws (you'll definitely want to use these as triwing screw are the worst) buttons and everything else in between including the tools to fit it. The red set I chose has the 'soft touch' effect and feels really well made, the contrast against the black of the unit itself looks really good. The original button fit with the casing so you can choose to keep them, as I did, or you can use the replacement one the set comes with, it's entirely up to you. Sadly, and this is the only downfall I have, is that the set comes with no instructions what so ever. Whilst this can make it challenging to go ahead and attempt to fit the new covers (in some cases it took me and the other half as on pair of hands just wasn't enough lol) the result is definitely worth it and I love the new look its given my Switch. I will point out I found a fantastic step by step guide on YouTube that helped me fit this set and its really worth having a look yourself for one to watch watch of before you attempt it if in anyway unsure... I've included during and after after pictures for anyone curious.

If you haven’t done anything like this before I would recommend practicing taking apart the joy-con first as it can be quite fiddly. The shells themselves feel very soft the the touch but do feel a bit cheaper than the ones originally on the joy-con and on my left joy-con there is a slight noticable seam between the two halves when you have it in your hand but this is very minor. The colours are very pure and look great on the console, I often find myself just staring at them in awe at how good they look. Overall the quality is very good but not quite nintendo quality and the assembly was difficult but do-able.

First time reshelling my joycons so I didn't know what to expect. Found the process pretty easy with a good youtube tutorial and all the spare screws/springs etc included in this set. Like most, I chewed the old screws with the supplied screwdriver but I think that says more about the screws themselves and how cheap and rubbish they are. I used the spares to fasten the joycons back up and the quality difference is obvious. I didn't bother changing the buttons as I prefer the blacks ones, however I would have liked some matching sl/sr buttons which I didn't receive in this kit and thought odd. Had to keep my old ones which are the original colour scheme. Bit disappointing but you don't see those very often so not too bothered. The shell cases feel nice. More matt than nintendo joycons but I quite like that. Can't speak to the button qualifty as I opted not to use them. I'll probably buy some more in the future to shell my other set of joycons. So yes, I would recommend these if you are thinking of doing it. The spare parts are a life saver, between chewed screws and a spring that disappeared into the cosmos, they came in very handy.

Der Umbau selbst war ne ziemliche Fummelarbeit und hat Ewigkeiten gedauert (so um die 3 Stunden für beide), ist aber bei der Größe der Joy Cons auch kein Wunder. Die Verpackung hat alles recht gut zusammengehalten. Der Schraubendreher, der dabei lag, scheint qualitativ recht wertig zu sein, allerdings wurde er abgesehen vom Umbau aber auch nicht auf Qualität und Haltbarkeit überprüft. Cooles Plus: Die Umbauanleitung ist im Internet (YT, um genau zu sein), daher der beiliegende Zettel mit Sicherheitshinweisen sehr flach gehalten, aufs Nötige beschränkt und wenig Papiermüll. Wärmeleistung und Haltbarkeit nach dem Umbau hab ich noch nicht ausreichend getestet, allerdings ist bisher (ca 3 Wochen nach Umbau) alles super. Schrauben hatte ich fast alle existierenden genommen (die fürs Case gewechselt aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Schlitze), da bei ihnen farblich klarer waren, wo sie hingehören. Allerdings ist der ein oder andere Knopf kleiner als das Original, so zum Beispiel der Homebutton am rechten JC (der wackelt bei mir ab und zu ein wenig). Zwei Wünsche hätte ich allerdings an den Hersteller: - Ich hab mich beim Umbau bei einer Schraube vertan und jetzt in dem Case eine kleine Erhebung, in der ich die zu lange Schraube rein gedreht hab (stört mich aber nicht wirklich). Cool wäre es, wenn bei der Anleitung kurz spezifiziert welche, welche Schraube verwendet werden sollte für Leute, die zum ersten Mal so einen Umbau machen (zum Beispiel mit Nummern, die kleinste hat die 1, die ganz Äußeren fürs case die 3 oder ähnlich) - Ich hab auf der Webseite recht lange suchen müssen, um die Anleitung für meine Art vom Umbau zu finden und schlussendlich einfach über YT direkt gesucht. Da würde ich mir einen separaten Punkt wünschen für den Umbau vom Case, ohne dass man am linken JC die Knöpfe zum Kreuz wechselt. Alles in Allem bin ich ziemlich zufrieden. Sieht super aus, weil's jetzt auch farblich zu dem Rest der Switch passt und fühlt sich genauso an, wie neu gekaufte JCs.

Great texture, very high quality shell. But the buttons imo arent as great as the original and the shell precision isn't as great. Overall highly recommended, much better than other brands.

This is pretty much the best third-party Joycon replacement you can find. The package contains everything you need to change the shell including the screw drivers and replacement screws. Plastic does not feel cheap compared to lower quality ones and quite close to the original ones by big N. Would have liked an instruction manual for tear-down and installing the shell, so this product is mainly for hobbyists who know what they are doing
