QSC GX5 500-Watt Power Amplifier

I usually don't leave reviews but if your thinking about dropping 400 dollars every bit of info helps....so. Very solid and compact amp. I bought the seismic 15inch loud speakers that every review was talking good about. Hooked up the amp and everything sounds great. You can have the amp cranked and not have distortion, just a tight, clean sound. Had my brother check it out (always willing to make me look like an idiot) and he was even amazed by the setup. When I was in school about 8 years ago we helped tear down the stage in our gymnasium. They were going to throw away some older qsc amps so i quickly nabbed them and found out about the company's quality. Another selling point was the free 6 year warranty. I find that amazing in the audio industry. Very happy with my investment. I might buy the g7 down the road.

I don't go lower than 4 ohms on any channel in my system so this amp worked out nice for the price. Also I don't need the excessive power that comes from bridging an amp as I have a 3 way stereo system that utilizes the entire QSC GX line, the GX7 for bass, GX5 for mids & GX3 for highs. The sound is incredible, full, clean and tons of headroom. The speaker / amp setup is: GX7: 2 Cervin Vega Jr. Earthquakes (JE-36C) GX5: 2 Peavey PV115 (2way 15 inch woofer and 12 x 12 compression horn midrange / tweeter) GX3: 2 pairs of JBL 075 bullet tweeter cabinets with 4 bullets in each cabinet DBX DriveRack PA+ Mutli-processor (2 or 3 Way Crossover, Parametric EQ, Graphic EQ, Compressor, Limiter, Feedback Suppressor, Sub-Harmonic Synthesizer, etc. When setup with a calibration mic the sound is way accurate) Samson D-1500 Real Time Analyzer

I use this as an alternative to a keyboard amp for my rock and roll band. As a multi-keyboardist (korg sv1, nord electro 2, yamaha motif rack, and nord lead 2) I need a lot of power to spare between all my keyboards. I use this to power my mix and the sound is so full! I recommend this to anyone who needs a good amount of power. A bit heavy (30lbs) but it is totally worth it when you think of how clean the sound is!

I would have given this amp five stars but for two reasons. 1) The translated instructions are grim and & sparse. 2) There is not a way to run a double set of speakers using the unbalanced RCA connectors. You can run one set balanced and one set unbalanced. I bought this to DJ with two sets of unbalanced speakers. Other than that, it's clean power and a lot of punch....especially for the money.

nice amp...looks pretty,and sounds great, tried it on two 8inch beta eminence for mids sound really good, tried it on selenium drivers, it sounded clean...and really sweet highs ,lol..and i tried it on my pair moofo 12's....which by the way takes 1500w rms each...and the gx5 played them nice at 4ohms on each channel...and for less power that the speakers need, it sounds good..no hum...no hiss from this amp

I purchased this amp so I could have more headroom for my hard to drive KEF 107/2 speakers. The first thing I did was replace the noisy fan with a quieter one. Yes, it voids the warranty but it will most like not have any problems since they have a good reliability history. The stock fan is simply way to loud for a home theater setup. I honestly can't tell the difference in sound quality compared to other amps I've owned over the years. You're getting a lot of bang for the buck with these amps. They don't look as cool but I was out for performance to dollar value.

This amp was chosen for it's class H technology more than for the power rating. Unfortunetly though, the cooling fan sounded as if the blades were impacting something within. This was unacceptable. Product was returned and return shipping was not covered. I would caution the buyer to read the return policy carefully as there is no recourse if the product ships from a seller other than Amazon.

When you register your amplifier at QSC's website they offer extending their standard three year warranty to six years. Clean, quiet PA amplifier. But don't mistake using this amp for casual home listening. This is after-all, a professional entertainer series PA power amplifier geared toward use in a high decibel public entertainment environment. If QSC quality is desirable in a home listening application I would suggest consideration of the purchase of either a QSC studio-quality RMX Series or Cinema sound DCA Series amplifier. I'm using this gear for DJ dance music paired with Seismic Audio Dual 15-inch mains with a 100 decibel sensitivity of 1 watt @ 1 meter for a total kickin' max output of 134+ decibels! This is a great power amplifier. It has good clean power. I’m using it to power my Polk Audio Rti A9’s and it’s driving them beautifully. I’m going to be purchasing 2 more to complete my home theatre. Some people complain about the fan noise but honestly I don’t hear the fan at all especially at reference levels. If your looking for solid power for a good price this is the amp for you.
