My very tatty copy dates from 1975, in hardback it has survived the years of frequent use though now needs a bit of sticky tape to hold the spine. Today (2017) I was looking at a game and got out this book to see what it had to say about the opening, that says it all really. I have quite an extensive chess library but the book I went back to was this old favourite. The only downside to the book for me is that it does not really cover modern openings/defences such as the Najdorf Sicilian but it offers a whole chapter on the Sicilian itself and teaches a lot of the basics of how to play the game of chess. Highly recommended reading, I hope you enjoy it for as many years as I have!
