SHANY Bamboo Makeup Brush Set - Old Packaging and Style

I love the way the brushes are soft and the variety of brushes. The lighter color is nice so you can see what is on your brush. They are very durable. I love the carrying case for travel. The price is right.

Not sure what the fuss is about... The brushes are actually really nice quality. The size makes them perfect for travel or everyday use. Don't be freaked out by the word "synthetic" -- we all know what those cheap-quality "bristles" feel like (the ones that practically leave claw marks across your blushes and eyeshadows then feel about as smooth as a mustache as you rake them across your skin). These are NOT those. Instead, these are soft (but not too soft) and smooth "hairs" -- not bristles. I'll update my review if I learn otherwise but these brushes give every indication that for a mere mortal/normal makeup user they'll last a long, long time (i.e. there's no need to worry about mileage as if you're a professional makeup artist...). Here's the low down: A) the brushes don't smell, B) I would have NEVER had cause to sniff the case if I hadn't read the other reviews claiming its scent was horrifying but...if I had to describe it, it smells exactly like anything else you would order online that's new (think new shoes, for example). C) As for "airing out" the case to get rid of the smell, I'd actually recommend putting the case inside a ziplock bag filled with 2 cups of dry, uncooked rice for 4-6 hours before...I'M KIDDING. By the time I finished taking pictures for you guys, the case smelled exactly like a pair of new shoes that had sat out of the box for EXACTLY as long as the case had sat out of its box while I photographed it. D) Regarding the quality/durability of the case: do I think it'll be around for me to clutch lovingly as I lie on my deathbed? NO. But if that's your expectation, you've probably sniffed a few too many newly-unwrapped products...

Quick take: Used for a long time. Great quality, hairs don't shed, colors of hairs don't fade, good for POWDER applications. 10/10 would recommend. -- I got these brushes a few years ago as a gift, and most of them have help up very well. This was my first brush set, would totally recommend. I use some of these brushes nearly every single day. Overall, this had impressed me for a 12$ set, and is fantastic for people taking their first steps into makeup. The brushes have maintained their colors with washing, the hairs have yet to shed, and they are INCREDIBLY soft. Brush #1: Overall: Very very soft and fantastic quality for the price. 8/10 This is a massive, fun brush to play with. Very good for light buffing, not I use this as a buffing brush, and most recently to apply finishing powder. Recently, the handle started to separate from the brush head, so when in use, the brush head can be felt moving around on the handle. Hasn't fallen off yet, just feels unstable. Brush#2 Overall: 0/10 Broken :( One side of this brush has a brush for eyebrows, and a comb that I used for the clumps in my eyeshadow. The plastic prongs broke off on the comb side. The brow brush side still works fine, but the ends collect the products you apply on your brows and can often spread a little. Brush #3: Overall: 4/10, lack of versatility in use, don't use very often, fine for monochrome looks It's fine if you just want to slap something on. Using different colors however, is a different story. Sponge applicators don't have the ability that hair brushes do for blending in other colors. The sponge doesn't pick up pigment very well from the palette. Once product is applied to the lid, it's very hard to blend with this brush. Although this tool may not have been intended to blend very well, there is no eye tool in this kit that really allows you to create a good look. Plus, if you have product at this tip, it may transfer onto unwanted placed. Brush#4 Overall: 10/10, soft, use all the time!!! Favorite brush in the set. This is the thin brush, the smallest in the set. The brush is thin, firm, and soft. It has served very well, and it's an everyday brush. Brush #5 Overall: ?/10 Only used once. Brush #6 Overall: 10/10 Don't use as liquid brush, leaves nice finish, distributes evenly When first starting out, I mistakenly used this as a foundation brush (don't know why), but I needed something. Don't use any brushes in this set for foundation, they'll absorb too much liquid. AS A POWDER BRUSH: Fantastic. Be sure to use in circular motions. Applies evenly, smoothly, very soft and natural. Brush #7: Overall: 10/10 fantastic for bronzer I use this brush with my bronzer, and although I wished it picked picked up a bit more pigment, it's perfect for a natural, distributed look. The brush is very soft, and has yet to disappoint me.

I was hesitant to buy because there weren't any reviews, but I bought them anyways, mainly because they are vegan made brushes with an organic touch of bamboo handles. I was like a child during Christmas when I opened the package... these brushes are beautiful. For the price you pay for these, I was expecting something much less. The brushes are so soft and hold just the perfect amount of make-up to apply smoothly and evenly. I use powder makeup and these work perfectly with the powder foundation. I will definitely recommend these to my friends and buy more Shany products now that I know they produce great quality cruelty-free products. To compare, I had my grandmothers shiseido brushes. It didn't come with an eyebrow brush or eye shadow brush, and the powder brush didn't hold enough of my powder foundation. Not to mention they were 5 times the price of these. ...Keep these awesome vegan products coming! :) ***UPDATE: Just wanted to say that I have now been using these brushes everyday for the past 6 months now and not one has started to shed. They are still as soft as they came and the bamboo is holding up perfectly as well. I use these for travel as well, since it comes with a perfect roll up pouch for them. Can't say enough how glad I am to have bought these :)

I was looking for a shorter handle set of makeup brushes and these are exactly that. The brushes themselves are nice and soft and don't seem to shed which is always nice. I would recommend these for someone specifically looking for shorter handled brushes. The case is nice as well, sturdy with a great magnet for easy closure.

Me sorprendió la calidad de las brochas, por el precio sinceramente no esperaba mucho, pero supero mis expectativas, son suaves y no pican; su estuche permite traerlas en el bolso sin que se maltraten y el tamaño es perfecto para transportarlas. definitivamente compraré mas productos de esta marca.

This brush set is my favourite. When traveling it is a pain to carry around a bunch brushes with a long handle, so this brush set makes traveling with brushes easy especially with its nice case. This brush set is everything you need for your basic everyday look. I have used Shany brushes before and some of the ones with dark bristles bleed dye, however these ones do not bleed any colour and do not have any foul smell. Excellent set.

This is perfect for travelling and keeping your brushes clean and free from damage. The size makes it perfect to throw in your hand bag when youre on the go. The bristles are soft and good quality!

Me encantó este set de brochas para traer en mi bolsa y sobre todo el estuche. Cada vez que las utilizo las lavo por lo que noto que no se hacen feas. Me agrada que son de bambú y cerdas muy suaves que no irritan mi piel, se nota que son de buena calidad (no soy experta).
