No more worrying about burning the pasta due to hot spots, the pasta insert keeps the pasta from contacting the walls of the pot and thus ensures it cannot exceed the boiling temperature. When done, slowly pull out the insert, draining the water, and set it in a wide pan.

I odered the IKEA Pasta insert pan to go with my pots and pans set. My children love pasta! Pros: The 4 to 5 quart pasta insert fits perfectly into my Cooks Home 5 quart pan. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect match with two different manufacturer's pans. Cons: Upon opening the pasta pan I noticed right away that it was dented on the bottom corner and wondered why items aren't inspected before shipping. It's not severe, but enough that if I bought it in a store, I'd choose another pan. I hate returns and the having to wrap/box it up, so dealing with it.

Would be better if there was a way to hook it on the pan to drain the water without having to carry it to the sink.
