Visually perfect and addictive gameplay.
Alright, before we start, just let me say this about FarCry 5; it was a brilliant game - for me anyway. The thought that went into it was clever, but the negative that stuck in my mind was; howcome the American army or police didn’t just shut it down? Think Waco. Since Hope County (in North America) wasn’t in a state of emergency, why wasn’t Trump down there building walls and getting everyone riled up? Anyway, onto New Dawn. I got this game 48 hours early for some reason, but I took full advantage but I’ll try not to give too many spoilers away. The post apocalyptic world is a PERFECT setting for Hope County. A state of lawlessness where money is no longer of value, so the main method of income is ethanol. The bad guys are the Highwaymen. Spearheaded by two absolute psychotic female twins. You’re introduced to them fairly early on in the game. There’s still most parts of Hope County that’s accessible that was present in FC5. This brings about nostalgia for those of us that fondly remember FC5 from last year. Of course this is set 17 years after FC5, but there’s still plenty of memorable folks from the previous installment, which also includes Jospeh Seed (the Father) some of your old “guns for hire” and the daughter of Nick Rye (can’t remember his wife’s name) whom is one of the main protagonist in New Dawn. The post apocalyptic setting adds more realism to what’s going on around you, given that in the event of a real nuclear war, there wouldn’t be any central government to keep order. You’ll find this out as you progress and see the different factions and what they’re after. The setting 17 years post nuclear bomb exploding are much prettier than you’d expect. I played this on my PS4 Pro and I’m honestly blown away by the graphics. It’s visually more pleasing than any other FC i’ve played, apart from Blood Dragon. Nothing beats 80’s themes! Something I’ve seen people complain about is the levelling up system and health bars. Some saying it’s too “RPG” like or too “Fallout” like. Well you can switch the health bars off, however they come in useful for the heavy gunner type enemies. They feel weird, but actually end up being quite useful - especially if you’re picking them off from a distance. Your main base is called “Prosperity” and you level prospect up in a similar way to now you levelled up your home and Yeti outpost on FC4 and how you upgraded your huts on F.C Primal. This enables you to have a better garden for herbs or upgrade work bench and explosives crafting capabilities, etc. Outposts* I’ve found myself running in more Gung Ho when it comes to outposts. In previous games I liked to creep around stealth killing, or pick off from a distance after disabling alarm. However on New Dawn there’s an increased sense of satisfaction from rushing in with your saw launcher! One thing to note with the outposts on New Dawn, you can choose to “scavenge” the outposts of all ethanol and this abandons the outposts back into enemy hands with increased difficulty. This allows for the harder outpost to be taken again for greater reward. One thing that does bother me is the with the introduction of the health bars I found that clean head shots weren’t killing the enemy. This bothers me. A head shot is a head shot, and if you’re not wearing head gear then a headshot should override your body armour. Finally I’ll add we have new animal companions in New Dawn. First being Timber, a husky you rescue that was destined for death due to killing 3 highwaymen. He’s much like boomer and, of course, a very good boy, since he can sniff out enemies/tag them and bring you weapons. He’ll also attack enemies and wildlife that attack you. Then we have Horatio - A WILD BOAR!! Or is he a hog? A WILD HOG!! either way, he’s brutal and fun to watch in action. I actually found him quite overpowered considering how fast and powerful he is, but regardless, he’s still fun to watch in action! There’s still so much more I can add but it’s all I can think off of the top of my head and I’m still currently playing it myself. Overall I already like it more than FC5. The post nuke world makes a world of difference to Hope County and if you’re reading this then I assume you either have or or thinking of buying New Dawn, which I can 100% recommend you do. EDIT; expeditions actually take you off of the map as we know it for specialist missions, however I’ve only done one of these, so don’t think I could elaborate too much on it. P.S TAKEDOWNS ARE BACK! *rolls around hysterically on the floor like maniac* P.P.S RADIOACTIVE BISON. Bruh.

It’s FarCry, innit
Quick first impressions: It’s Far Cry 5 so if you liked that you’ll like this. Although it’s the same map it all looks very different so in that sense it’s a whole new game, but all the familiar elements are there. You fight to keep alive, you fight to capture outposts and there are treasures to hunt for. As usual, you need to acquire to build resources and better weapons to progress in the game but there’s no hurry so you can play at your own pace in an open world environment. So far I see an excellent game, a must for Far Cry devotees which clearly this game is directed at, it being a follow-on from the original. If you haven’t played the main Far Cry 5 you should play it before this one, but it is acceptable as a stand alone game anyway. Edit: Nearly finished the game, really enjoyed it. If you liked Far Cry 5 you should certainly like this. It's much more than a DLC, although perhaps a little lacking as a full game. But if you can get over it not being the greatest value for money you will get into this and enjoy it. Further edit: Now, later, I’ve just played it right through for the second time and have really enjoyed it. That’s got to be the mark of a good game! Although the game is a little short, it is significantly expanded by allowing you to take the outposts again and through this you can substantially improve the quality of your weapons to the point where you don’t bother to cut off the outpost alarms but have fun just charging in and blasting everyone in sight! So the game can move through stages which substantially expands the experience. Also the expeditions (vignettes which take place outside the normal playing ground of Hope County) add a very real expansion to the game and like outposts you can go back again and again. So I’ve now played it twice and can certainly recommend this game.

Farcry New Dawn. not as good as Farcry 5 but good to play.
I really enjoyed Farcry 5 and all the previous Farcry games on the next and previous gen consoles from Farcry 3 to 5 was amazing, New Dawn I enjoyed quite a bit but there are some things that I wasn't to keen on and I am hoping they get removed in the next games. I didn't like the fact that weapons and enemies were leveled it made gameplay considerably frustrating at times especially when an enforcer is equipped with a rpg and blasts me at point blank range right close to me but at times it got especially annoying if I lost all my weapons like one of the missions in the game I won't mention to much because I don't want to ruin it, but basically your in a prison with no guns. But other then the levelling system the setting was great and the game looks really nice graphically, weapons are awesome and characters are so cool. I also enjoyed the fact that certain abilities were improved like having a knife when taking an enemy down but I could still use punches and baseball bat simaltaniously for attacks also which was cool as.. Vehicles were awesome and I really liked the unicorn bike it sounds so awesome when you drive it...... But I think the leveling system on enemies kind of ruined the game for me quite a bit and the shortness of the story which took 8hrs to complete unless your collecting all the items and stuff which extends it abit. The twins are awesome bad guys though and I was happy to see a few characters return from 5. But so far the best 3 farcry games have been 3,4 and 5 in my opinion and I'm hoping they go back to the non levelling system I also miss the main protagonist being voiced like 3 and 4 but these are minor things in comparison to the levelling problem which was my major gripe with this game. I'm hoping they ditch the leveling system for the next game and go back to the way it was before with no levelling up system or anything though I do like the perks and hope they keep that side of things which would be ok. That is why I have rated this 4 stars and would of given 5 if it was longer and levelling system on enemies was removed then it would of been an amazing game but if your a Farcry fan who wants to play more and haven't played this then I would recommend it because it's good even though frustrating at times..

This game is not for people who stresses easily, as this game will make it worse.
This is a great game, frustrating at times when I kept getting killed, but it's the sort of game that u just cannot put it down, know matter how frustrated I get with it, it keeps u engaged the graphics are just stunning, there is only 1 problem that I have with it, and that is once u've completed the game off line, u then have to spend money to play online, that's not fare only because not everyone can afford to play online.

Brilliant Game
I loved all the Far Cry games apart from Primal and this is no different. I’ve been glued to it since I got it and it’s just brilliant! There is soo much to do and it’s like Far Cry has realeased a whole new game even though the map is similar. Well worth getting.

Love the series! Love this game!
Doesn't quite have the great storytelling of FAR CRY 5, I thought the villains in this were brilliant, but a bit underused. However it's just straight up fun! Another brilliant addition to the series.

This should of been far cry 5
This is exactly the same as far cry 5 but gone have the intrusive cut scenes after building up your notoriety meter and forcing you into a annoying part of the game which would be better left out. Now you get to can take a strong hold and turn it back to the enemy, increasing the hardness of the compound. This has made a great addition to the game allowing additional gameplay and an increasing difficulty throughout the game, far cry 5 was a mess compared to this. This is a great addition the the far cry franchise and if far cry 5 put you off this, reconsider as it is a vast improvement.

Feels more like dlc, but enjoyable if you’ve played FC5
I really wanted to enjoy this game a lot, but I completed the whole story within a week (I’m not the kind of person who usually finishes games in a week for reference). The location and the story is great, and I really love the characters, but in my honest opinion, Far Cry New Dawn felt like a £35 dlc for Far Cry 5. And it left me feeling ripped of because, for me at least, £35 should be more gameplay than a week. Another thing I dislike about the game is that rather than having about 20+ strongholds to capture, there’s 8 (I think) and you’re supposed to capture them each multiple times, increasing in difficulty up to 3 stars. It’s the only way to unlock some cosmetic items and it’s extremely repetitive. There are a lot of good things about the game as well, though. The story itself is a really cool concept, a lot of the little references to Far Cry 5 gave me appropriate emotions, sometimes a good laugh and other times sadness. But the game feels like it carries on where Far Cry 5 left off, and I know it’s supposed to be like that, but as someone who’s completed both games, New Dawn just felt like it was tying up loose ends from 5. I was told the game could be played by anyone who hasn’t played 5, and it was supposed to be a stand alone experience, but I wouldn’t understand a lot of the plot if I hadn’t played 5. And where I do love the story, I feel like there was so much more they could’ve done with it. Overall, I think I’ve made it clear that the game feels more like stand alone dlc than it’s own game. I prefer the actual gameplay to Far Cry 5, but the storyline is promising yet underwhelming. A great concept, a great set up, a lacking midpoint and a disappointing conclusion. I would recommend playing this if you’ve played Far Cry 5, however I wouldn’t purchase this again for the £35 I paid for it. Not sure what it’s price is when writing this review however. And for the amazon side of things, I preordered the game and it arrived either on release day or the day after.
