Great Upgrade to RV
We love our Torklift steps. Much safer and sturdier than the original steps. Dogs even feel more confident going up and down. Install would have been easy IF we had side walls in the step well. Lots of videos on normal install but nothing on if your trailer doesn’t have metal side walls. I have an older Jayco Designer 31RLS and there is no sides to bolt the Torklift stair frame to. We were able to drill the back rails of Torklift box/frame and through the RV frame in upper and lower rails and then use large Self tapping bolts to secure it in place. My buddy that helped me has a newer than mine Jayco Eagle and his step well is the same as mine. Wish there had been more information out there on non-typical install by manufacturer or YouTube. Other advice I would give is if you are near the upper limits of the height measurement on getting a 4 step or a 5 step go for the 5 step. I was at the max height for the 4 step but when we got to various campgrounds the ground was uneven and I had to build up with blocks to use the stairs. I added a 5th step and it now works perfect. It was more expensive to add the extra step than if I had just ordered it in the first place ( saw another reviewer that mentioned this and should have listened to his advice). All in all we are very pleased with the product and would buy again and recommend to others.

So much better than the factory steps!!!
LOVE these steps. I am so glad we invested in these. The factory steps on our 2016 fifthwheel were so clunky, heavy, and did not fold up well. We also wanted something that would go to the ground. We researched all the available aftermarket steps and settled on these once we weighed all the options. We thought we would go with the solid moryde steps at first. But then it was odd to decide which size to get and still looked like we might have to do some deconstruction on our door to make it fit based on some others views with our model camper. Then realized with those you still have to lift and put the dirty steps into your camper. Hmmm. And then what if you are in a super tight spot where you might not have the clearance to bring those steps out. So we reconsidered and then stumbled on these torklift steps. They are so light and easy to use. So kept weight down on our capacity and easier to handle especially if you have a bad back. One issue is that the spacer kit is too much. They should sell by the single. We only used one spacer and based on their readings we needed a set and I think like 4 come in a set or something like that. So it is super expensive and wasteful. And i think we could have gotten away without it. Not sure I have noticed the glow from the stickers at all so not sure I would buy it on that account but otherwise we love them.

Replacement for factory stairs
Our Grand Design travel trailer came standard with the foldout 3-step aluminum stairs. We felt that we would be better served if there were 4-steps instead of the 3. Installation was simple with only a couple of bolts required to mount the new stairs. The stairs work well and are a welcome replacement for the originals.

Great stability, Poor attention to details
Was hoping to give this product five stars, but unfortunately, struggled to even give it a 4 star rating. To start with, the instructions are confusing. Particularly where it talks about how to install using two people vs one. (BTW, I was able to install this without assistance.) The instructions indicate that there should have been 4 3/8 bolts, nuts and washers and 4 5/16 bolts, nuts and washers. Almost true. Except got 8 5/16 bolts and no 3/8. Instructions also indicate that there should have been a 3/8 slot and a 5/16 slot to accommodate different stair frames. However, mine only had 3/8 slots which was a problem without any 3/8 bolts. The bolts were cheap grade 5 zinc plated hex head screws. Sure, I could have contacted the manufacturer for replacements or ran down to Home Depot to get some. Fortunately, I retained the 3/8 bolts and nuts that came with old stairs. These were far better quality mushroom head carriage bolts with 3/8 lock nuts. They did the trick perfectly! It's also very difficult to align the stairs. There are three positions. However, there is no visual way to determine which position the stairs are in. You have to re-engage the locking handle. Then slide the stairs to the next position until the handle catches it. I've yet to be able to find a setting where the stairs sit level. They typically point downward. Also, the locking pin has nothing to grab ahold of it except for the retaining wire which I'm reluctant to use as a handle. It's difficult to align the holes to where the pin will slide in and out easily. So, you have to rock the locking lever back and forth to be able to remove the pin and even then it can be very difficult without having the additional leverage of some sort of handle or ring to grasp it with. Given the price (the most expensive stair replacements I've found), I find myself disappointed in the lack of attention to detail. The stairs are stable when deployed and ultimately that's what we were after but I'm not certain I could give a very strong recommendation to someone who may be shopping for a stair replacement.

Horrible at stowing for travel.
Bought these in November of 2020. They are really great steps and have served me well. However, prolonged extension makes it nearly impossible to fold back up to store for transport. We've sprayed them WD-40,we've used PB blaster, and we've even greased them, all for not. Now, they won't even fold up at all. They're really great steps, just horrible for long term use. I've moved my fifth wheel 4 times and the last time, I just had to raise them up and secure them to the hand rail. Also, they're not illuminated. They have "glow on the dark" stickers that lose their ability to "glow" after a while.
